Remarks

College is doing everything to make sure students get the best education they can.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

It's a semester based course. There are 4 credit points for each subject. BCA is a new course, ergo making its syllabus relevant to the current market. The professors make sure that we get up to date industrial knowledge. Unfortunately no industrial visits are organised but experts in the industry are called to give guest lectures which are very effective as they increase industry awarness between the students.

Placement Experience

4.5

There's competition for in-campus placement. The companies always want the best so they organise an entry test to filter through. Companies like Larsen and Toubro, Persistent, tech Mahindra, TCS and many local IT companies. Mock interviews are held to make students familiar with industrial interview. About 10-15 students are selected in-campus

College Events

3.5

Every department conducts different events so every class can participate. Cultural event is a huge hit in the college. Cultural event is followed by departmental events, like Computer science department conducts events based on tech. Hackathon, blind programming, programming competition, etc. are some of the events held.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees are feasible and there are no concession given to anyone. They can only be paid through an online portal. The college provides receipt which provides fee-breakdown. No additional fee is required to secure admission but every semester exam fees are taken.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college offers scholarship only to underprivileged students. Students are selected through an organisation which helps underprivileged students

Campus Life

4

Gender ratios differ from course to course and year to year. My class has about 55%-45% ratio. Laboratories are well equipped but not so properly maintained. Hostel regulations are strict so I don't think they have parties inside. Students from every background, race and economic status are present in the college. There's a strong Right wing movement in the college but they keep their views to themselves, if you don't agree with them, move on. The college is conservative.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni keep on contact with their beloved professors. They make sure to tell what to do to secure good grades whenever they pay a visit to the college.

Admission

I applied online for the course. It was between BCA or BSC computer science. I choose BCA because it was deeper in programming unlike BSC computer science which heavily focuses on theory. Abasaheb Garware College is one of the best college in Pune for BCA. The faculty is well experienced and up to date with current technological knowledge.

Faculty

4

The faculty is very experienced and professional. They can see potential in students. The more the student is hardworking, the more the faculty is helpful. Average age is around 40 years old. PhD and MPhil is common between the faculty. 50 hours of lectures with practical are taken each week. Most of the elder professors offer consultancy services to the local IT companies.

Placement Experience:

Our college typically initiates campus placements from the 5th semester. Companies like Infosys and Wipro, TCS, Capgemini, etc. do come to campus and the average packages are around ?3-4 LPA and the highest can be around ?7-8 LPA depending on the student, their skills, and matching requirements. Around 60-70% of students get placed while adhering to the eligibility criteria and have taken the placement training sufficiently. Personally, I am currently focus on being better at my technical skills and wish to pursue an opportunity as a software developer following my graduation.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because game development seemed facinating to me. But after studying for few months, I lost my interest completely. The method of teaching is TRASH. Faculty : student ration is 1:30. For the Pune branch only 1 exam will be conducted at the end of the each sem(6 semesters = 6 exams) i.e end semester exam. Questions are asked from what is taught in the class or from given study material
