Remarks

If any want to do Engineering course do not go for this college. As Engineering is the thing on which you are going to make your career and rest of life. So you are supposed to be a good Engineer. Better go for coaching and get admission in good colleges.

Entrance Preview

I scored only 31 marks in AIEEE exam. All India Rank was not good. I am native of Himachal Predesh so as the rank was not good I thought of taking coaching for Engineering Entrance Exams. But one of my friend's father told me about KC College of Engineering and IT Nawanshahr. I went with my father to see the college, unfortunately we did not inquired much about the college facility and infrastructure. Me and my friend paid the tuition fee and joined the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

It is affiliated to Punjab Technical University so the course curriculum was the standard one. You will study all the subjects which an IIT student reads. So no doubt in the curriculum as it was having everything to make you a complete engineer.

Internships Opportunities

Internship was the part of curriculum so we have to do that. We didn't receive any assistance from the college side. No company visited to offer internship program and we ourselves struggled to do internship program.

Placement Experience

0.5

Frankly speaking, no company visited for placement. It was not the case for our batch but I have seen my seniors telling the same problem. During my stay in college no company visited for four years. Present situation is also the same. I was the topper of my batch with 76% aggregate marks in all 8 semesters. I didn't receive any call or mail from the college placement cell providing information about any company's visit or the placement drive.

College Events

0.5

We celebrated the Tech fest continuously for 3 years. There were no others events to celebrate. For conducting tech fest also students used to struggle hard to get funds from college administration.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It was feasible. I had paid 35000 per semester as my tuition fee and 21000 per semester as my hostel fees. There were some concession for SC/ST candidates

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarship were provided by college to the the candidates who scores more than 75%. There was no loan facilities provided to the students.

Campus Life

3

Campus life was good as I was there with my friends. But there were no extracurricular activities, sports competition, robotics and debates programs. labs were in poor condition.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel facilities were poor. There was no sport to play in hostel. There was a little space in front of hostel to play some outdoor sports. Mess food was good. Residential and washroom facilities were good.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors were friendly with me or with other hostel mates also. They were helpful in clearing yours doubts if you get any. Alumni network is good as all are on facebook

Exam Structure

Final Exams were conducted by the university (PTU). Exam structure was good. It was as per syllabus. But I heard my batchmates complaining about the marking if answer sheets.

Faculty

3

The faculty of college was not good. Teachers were only having Bachelors degree. The way of their teaching and explaining things was not at all good. Administrative staff is non-cooperative. The teachers don't teach for the entire semester but during givi

Placement Experience:

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Placement Experience:

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
