Parmar Chandresh's Review On Government Arts College, Gandhinagar

I did my BA English from Government Arts College, Gujarat. It was a great experience for me when I was a student there. Everything from faculty to alumni network was awesome of the college. A great thanks to the faculty for teaching us so well that we were able to move further in life. Alumni network also supported a few students there land some decent jobs. The college has a good library and decent infrastructure, and the parking of the college is good too.

The syllabus is followed here is drafted by the Gujarat University because the college is affiliated to it. And has to follow the guidelines provided by it strictly. In the starting the semester, it comprises of basic subjects with 2-3 core subjects and 1 additional, and slowly the number of core subjects increases as we approach final semester. BA is a semester-based course, so the examinations are held in December and June for 2 semesters respectively. Sessionals are also held in college itself to have a track of students' knowledge.

There are scholarships available at the time being offered by the college directly and are posted on the notice board or you can consult the faculty regarding it. Although, one can also avail State scholarships offered by the government, if you’re eligible and meet the basic criteria.

The college infrastructure is pretty good, including parking, well-furnished classrooms, well-equipped and spacious libraries, computer labs managed well. The college also supports students for sports too, and help them in any way, if they are a good sportsman. The faculty also makes sure that students are now safe within college premises.

The College has a decent alumni network spread widely across India, which helps the college to increase its reach to provide students with possible placements. Alumni is very helpful in motivating students whenever an alumnus pays a visit to our college. The senior students also guide the juniors well, guiding them and sometimes teaching as well.

Admissions are completely based on merit, firstly everyone is supposed to fill in the application form for the college, and then apply at the college. After some time the merit list is declared for people who are eligible for intake in that particular course and are contacted to visit the college and carry on their admission process further. When I completed the whole process, I was also asked to submit a portion of fees and provide my documents for verification at earliest.

The faculty of the college is skilled and have lots of experience in their teaching domain, and keep sharing their knowledge to students to invoke curiosity regarding applications of the topics. The faculty also quite supportive and understands the students, and also tries to solve the queries of their students to their very best, helping the students learn better and get a better understanding of the subject.
