Remarks :
I completed my B.Sc. Chemistry from MES Kvm college. In my opinion, MES KVM was a pretty good college for me, which introduced me to a vast knowledge I didn't imagine to assimilate in my course duration. The college also provided us with a number of opportunities for placements. The Counseling Cell also introduced us to a variety of good speakers which helped us open our thought process and taught us how to excel and be our better selves. The college is also accredited with grade 'A' by NAAC and is also ranked 51 among the colleges of India because of its ever-evolving education and facilities provided to students.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course had equal focus on electives, core and additional subjects in starting semesters. In last semesters, the focus fully shifted on core subjects and respective practicals. The course is prescribed by the University of Calicut, as it provides college with affiliation. The examinations are held on a semester-basis as B.Sc is a semester-based course. SO, the examinations are held twice a year. The college also holds internal examinations to evaluate the performance and preparations of students for the end-sem examinations.
Placement Experience :
The college has a dedicated Placement and Counseling Cell, which holds the responsibility for grooming the students for placements. The Cell holds regular motivation and training sessions for students, and calls speakers from outside campus to given speeches and resolve doubts of students regarding the approach to life and help them open up their thought process and become their better selves. Many renowned companies are invited to the college for placements and job fairs are held by the help of the Cell for students and provide them with good job opportunities.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fee for my B.Sc. Chemistry was Rs. 2300 charged per year and the overall fee of the course was Rs. 6,200 which I consider being a lot feasible compared to the college status, education and placement opportunities provided to the students.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
There are a number of scholarships supported by the college. But there are no scholarships directly offered by the college. There are a number of merit-based and caste-based scholarships offered by the government which students can apply for, from the respective websites.
Admission :
The admission to the college is on a merit basis. I applied through the window system of the University of Calicut, and certainly I got seat allotted to me in the 2nd allotment of seats. Afterward, I visited the college to carry on my admission process. I was interviewed by some teachers and then I provided them with my documents to verify them and have me proceed with my admission. After that, I submitted a portion of the fee and ensured my admission to the college.
Faculty :
The faculty of our department were a number of good and skilled chemists. The faculty of the college was friendly and always tried to pour as much knowledge into the students. The teachers always tried to teach the students, the best way possible and provide them with the necessary knowledge even apart from the syllabus.
