Remarks
I did one year Diploma course from the Institute Of Hotel Management And Catering, which is regarded as the best hotel management college in India. I have to say I wasn’t disappointed. I already had the experience in the catering business and a certificate from IHMC helped me get a strong footing in the market. I am very helpful for the significant support from the faculty members.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course covered a wide range of topics. We learned the various classifications of hotel accommodation, process of arrival and departure of guests, types of billing, concierge services and rooms reservation functions. The course curriculum also made it compulsory to have at least 6 months industrial exposure.
Placement Experience
One of the assuring things about IHMC is the placement process. Your academic performance will decide if you will be placed in a good organization or a decent one. However, there's a fair chance that you will not be getting satisfactory placement. All the top-notch hotels with good packages arrive in the beginning, and some students get placed there with decent packages. But after the drives conducted by these hotels, the quality of placements deteriorates rapidly.
College Events
We would also celebrate Independence Day, Sports Day, Holi etc. Our institute also organised many industrial visit and other adventure and hiking trips to enhance team bonding and mutual growth structure.
Campus Life
Campus life was pretty ordinary. Infrastructure is not what I expected, but there weren’t any major issues in terms of classrooms. Classrooms and labs are all updated so that was a relief. There’s no ragging or harassment during my session.
Alumni/Alumna
Seniors were quite co-operating and accommodating. We had great fun. They even guided us for the placement process and in preparing the internship reports. Many of our seniors are placed in close proximity to the college. Rest are placed in the top hotels and companies like hyat, the Oberoi, etc.
Admission
For degree program the application fee is Rs. 500 and application process for a certificate course is Rs. 300. I still don’t understand the point of such high application fees.
Faculty
Faculty members were from the Hospitality and tourism industry. Every teacher had the necessary industry knowledge. Faculty members also pushed us to consider entrepreneurship.
