Remarks

The labs and the high tech instruments provide an ideal setup for intensive research projects. I did my post-graduation in Marine Culture and cleared NET JRF and went on to join the Central Institute of Brackish Water Aquaculture. The institute is affiliated to the IARI. It is the best research institute for aquaculture research. Academic learning and corporate exposure is pretty decent. I learned a lot from the teachers and the practical classes. It shaped my career in a professional way.

4

The course curriculum of the PhD program holds the national leadership in agricultural research, education, extension and technology assessment and transfer by developing new concepts and approaches and serving as a national referral point for quality and standards.

College Events

4

We also had many field trips to the other regional stations of IARI, which was a fun part between the tedious research schedule.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The Ph.D. was government sponsored and we used to get grants from the government. Hostels were also paid for and had some pretty decent facilities. Medical facilities are also available within the campus premises.

Fees and Financial Aid

Candidates selected for the PhD program are eligible for the fellowship program.

Campus Life

4

The Chennai campus has hectares of irrigated land. The overall infra is good. The CIBA library is loaded with all the basic publications including the journals published by the institute itself. The library also consists of online journals, CeRA, OPAC, etc. The administration will also provide basic training for online information research.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel facility is also available within the premises of CIBA. Hostel allotment is on the basis of merit.

Admission

Admission is based on the entrance exam, which is followed by the Interview in the respective discipline. My interview revolved around my masters’ subjects and the projects I have worked upon. Apart from that, I was also asked about the reasons for showing interest in the CIBA.
