Is Aligarh Muslim University good enough for a B.Tech, compared to private universities like VIT, SRM, Manipal and Thapar?

Studied at AMU

AMU is better than VIT, SRM, Manipal and Thapar in many respects. AMU offers top notch facilities like these private colleges, but its fees are way less in comparison.

Here are the goods and bads of joining AMU-

AMU has very good placements for CS, Electronics and Electrical branches.
The cost of study and hostels is extremely pocket friendly.
The campus is great and very safe for girls.
The faculty and infrastructure are both top notch. The CS and Electronics teachers have worked in the past for MNCs like Cisco and Microsoft.
The library and book banks allow easy access to books for those who suffer from financial difficulties.
The core branches (civil, mechanical and chemical) do not get core placement offers on campus. But one who knows his/her subjects well and has a good CPI, can easily acquire a good core job off campus. Core branches usually receive software related jobs offers during campus placements.
Some freshers might feel a cultural shock at AMU, but they’ll eventually adapt to their new environment.

Aligarh Muslim University is a more reputable brand in comparison to private colleges, and its education is much more affordable. You must work hard and get a good rank to get admission into AMU.

Yes, Aligarh Muslim University is way better than private universities such as VIT, SRM, Manipal, and Thapar for B.Tech. AMU is a central university and is widely recognized. Many times students prefer AMU prefer NITs.

It has international-level infrastructure and a great faculty base. Many professors from CS and Electronics branches are past employees of top MNCs like Microsoft, CISCO, etc. The placements are pretty good for B.Tech. AMU B.Tech placements 2021 had an average CTC of INR 5.62 LPA.

The industrial exposure is less compared to the other institutes. But as AMU is located in the vicinity of NCR, the location advantage makes up for it.

AMU is government funded while the rest are private which contributes to the infrastructural and cultural differences otherwise all are almost at par with each other. Thapar and Manipal have world-class sport-complexes. It is on the individual’s determination and hard-work to make a career.
