What is the difference between EEE, EnI and ECE at BITS, Pilani?
BITS Pilani does not offer an Electronics and Communication Engineering Program. When comes to ENL and EEE, there are some key points you should keep in mind as an applicant, which are listed below
Opportunities – In the current scenario, EEE opens up more opportunities than ENL. For Instance, the Indian Engineering Examination is only applicable to students from ECE and EEE
Campus – BITS Pilani is far better than BITS Hyderabad as they have well-equipped lab and infrastructure
Placement – The three batches can sit for the placement, but the companies give more weight to Communication and Digital Signal Processing
So, it is better to choose EEE than ENL at BITS Pilani.
How is EEE at NIT Calicut?
If you are considering studying at the National Institute of Technology Calicut, here are some important points to keep in mind:
Academics:
- The curriculum was last updated in 2017, and there is very little emphasis on practical applications.
- The syllabus is designed to help you crack exams like GATE, but there may be pressure in some semesters and a lot of free time in others.
- Simulation software is not taught as part of the curriculum, so it's a good idea to attend workshops conducted by various clubs and student groups.
- Despite these challenges, many students secure admission in various IITs and IIMs every year.
Faculty:
- While some of the faculty members are enthusiastic about teaching, others may not have a strong grasp of the subject or may not be interested in teaching.
- Because there is a shortage of permanent faculty in some departments, some courses (especially electives) may be taught by ad-hoc staff with little or no teaching experience.
- It's important to choose your electives wisely to ensure that you get the best education possible.
Infrastructure:
- The classrooms are well-equipped, and there is usually no shortage of equipment in the labs.
- However, the UG labs may be crowded, and you may need to do experiments in groups of 3 or 4 students in hot and humid weather conditions.
Placements:
- Many core companies like Bosch, Schneider Electric, ABB, Larsen, and Toubro visit the campus for placements.
- For electrical profile jobs, the packages may not be very high.
- For electronics profile jobs, companies like Texas Instruments and Tektronix hire students from EEE backgrounds.
- There are also many software and consultancy companies that hire EEE students.
- The average placement rate is usually around 70-75%.
Going abroad:
- The department has a good record of students being accepted for MS programs in renowned universities abroad.
- If you have plans to go abroad for an MS, it's important to choose your electives carefully and select your project and guide wisely to get a strong recommendation.
What is better: EEE at BITS Hyderabad or CS at VIT Vellore?
As a former EEE student at BITS Goa, I would not recommend taking up EEE at BITS Hyderabad if you want a career in the field of software engineering.
Here are the reasons why-
- The coding involved in EEE is not enough. You’ll code in MATLAB, which is rarely used in the IT sector. You’ll have to devote extra time to learning Python, Java, and other languages.
- CS involves much more than coding, all of which you’ll miss out on.
- Elective courses like OS, DSA, Comp Arch have very limited seats, and not everyone gets to pick them. Also, you’ll get these courses by your third or fourth year. By then you’ll either be under too much pressure to complete your main syllabus or it’ll be too late because the placement season will have begun.
- Top IT companies don’t open for non CS candidates, and even for the companies that do, you’ll have to compete with CS students.
- BITS will give you all the necessary exposure, quality education and opportunities. However, as a non IT student you’ll still find difficulty in getting an IT job via campus placements.
Based on all these points, I would recommend choosing CSE at VIT for better job prospects in the IT sector.
Which is better for EEE, NIT Trichy or NIT Surathkal?
NIT Trichy is a better option for EEE. The department has a brilliant faculty. Professors are well-experienced. The peer group is great. You will be among talented students. EEE has a 100% placement rate. Students receive salary packages in the range of INR 4 LPA - 20 LPA. Microsoft, Uber, HLS Asia, etc. are among the major recruiters that take part in NIT Trichy placements.
What should be the preference order for the following: NIT Surathkal EEE, NIT Warangal EEE, NIT Trichy EEE, MANIT Bhopal (hometown) EE, MNNIT Allahabad EE, NIT Calicut EE and MNIT Jaipur EE?
According to the NIRF rankings in India 2020, NIT Surathkal was ranked 13th, NIT Warangal was ranked 19th, NIT Trichy was ranked 9th, MANIT Bhopal was ranked 65th, MNNIT Allahabad was ranked 48th, NIT Calicut was ranked 23rd and MNIT Jaipur was ranked 35th for their B.Tech courses. Admissions to all these institutions are given on the basis of rank in JEE Main.
The preference order among these colleges would be as follows:
NIT Trichy > NIT Surathkal > NIT Warangal/MNNIT Allahabad > NIT Calicut > MANIT Bhopal > MNIT Jaipur

- NIT Warangal:
- 86.4% was the placement rate in NIT Warangal for EEE department.
- Some of the top recruiters at the institute include Amazon, Ford, HP, Intel, Oracle, Nestle, Microsoft, Jio, Loreal, Bank of America, L & T, etc.
- Students received an average package of INR 7.97 LPA and the highest salary recorded was INR 30 LPA.
- NIT Trichy:
- NIT Trichy witnessed a total of 95% placement rate in the recent placement drive.
- The students were offered an average salary package of INR 4.5 LPA whereas the highest package offered was INR 40 LPA.
- The top recruiters that visited the institute are Mahindra, Berger, Adani, BHEL, TCS, HCL, Wipro, Sonata, Hexaware, TechMahindra, etc.
- MNNIT Allahabad:
- 96.97% was the placement rate of MNNIT Allahabad for EE department.
- Gati Infrastructures, GE, Indian Navy, Dell, Canon, BHEL, E-bay, Adobe, Bharat Institute of Technology, etc are some of the companies that visited the institute for placement drive.
- Students received an average package of INR 8.01 LPA and the highest salary recorded was INR 23.84 LPA.
- NIT Surathkal:
- Some of the top recruiters of the institute include Axis Bank, Oyo, Microsoft, Amazon India, Samsung R & D, Myntra designs, Byjus, Uber India, Wipro Limited, Oracle India, etc.
- The students received the highest package of 39 LPA and an average package of INR 14.15 LPA.
- MANIT Bhopal:
- Microsoft, Infosys, Amazon, Maruti, CEAT, Bharat Petroleum Cooperation Limited, Hero, Bajaj, Oracle, Wipro, Cisco, TATA Consultancy services, etc are some of the top companies that visited the campus for recruitment.
- The students were offered an average salary package of 6.23 LPA whereas the highest package offered was INR 27LPA.
- NIT Calicut:

Students can also choose by seeing the city and campus life of the institutions which suit them better, as at the end of the day all of them are NITs.
What is the average and highest package for the EEE department in NIT, Trichy?
My friends had studied at NIT Trichy in CSE and EEE. The placements for both of these branches are top-notch.

Which one is better: aerospace engineering in IIT Kanpur, aerospace engineering in IIT Madras, mechanical engineering IIT BHU, or ECE in IIT BHU?
I am a student of B.Tech Aerospace at IIT Madras. IIT Madras is a top engineering institution in India, and a degree from here can easily land you an offer to complete your higher education in Ivy League colleges (if you are among the top 10% in your batch). You may even land a job offer at prestigious institutions like ISRO once you graduate.

It is evident from the following data that in terms of placements, the Mechanical and Electronics branches of IIT BHU are better. But if you have the slightest interest in Aerospace Engineering, IIT Madras will open plenty of opportunities for you in this sector.
If research/higher studies interest you, IIT Madras is the best option due to its superior reputation. You’ll get to work at some of the best organizations like HUL, ISRO, and DRDO. Moreover, you’ll be exposed to world-class infrastructure, and some of the best professors.
So if you have an interest in Aerospace Engineering, I would suggest you opt for IIT Madras over all the other options.
How are placements for EEE at BIT Mesra, and does the big electrical MNC visit the campus?
The placements for EEE at BIT Mesra differ according to the year. However, they are not as good as they were a decade ago. Since the advent of GATE for the recruitment process of PSUs, they have stopped recruiting students from the campus.
A wide range of companies allows BIT Mesra EEE students to sit for the placement process-
- Coders are offered packages from Goldman Sachs, DE Shaw, Direct-I, etc.
- Freescale offers jobs to those who are good at core electronics.
- TATA Steel, Maruti, Mahindra, L&T, Trident, Mitsubishi, Orient, etc. offer positions to those who are good at core electrical.
- EXl, Mu-sigma, Stellium, etc. recruit students with good analytical skills.
Unless you are passionate about coding, as a EEE student, it is unlikely for you to be good at it, that is too good enough to beat a CSE/IT candidate. Also, EEE at BIT Mesra is negligent towards electronics. Therefore, in reality, only the last two categories are left for EEE students.
Thus, as a EEE student at BIT Mesra, you can get placed in the core electrical companies or companies like EXE, Stellium, etc. But if you wish to go for core electronics or coding, you will have to strengthen your knowledge and skills in these domains, all by yourself. The above-mentioned companies are the big MNCs that visit the campus with core electrical profiles.
Which is better: IIT Gandhinagar, other new IIT electrical, or BITS Pilani electrical and electronics?
IIT Gandhinagar is a better choice for Electrical Engineering than choosing BITS Pilani for Electrical and Electronics.
- IIT Gandhinagar is a relatively new institution but has grown in popularity due to the excellent academic standards and research facilities that it has to offer for students.
- IIT Gandhinagar provides a BTech full-time undergraduate program, the average course fee for the first year is INR 2.29 Lakhs.
- The placement records for the 2023 Electrical Engineering department are great with 86.67% of students being placed.
- The median package and average package were INR 16 LPA and INR 17.91 LPA.
- Some of the top recruiters were Accenture, Amazon, Dell, and more.
What is your review about NIT Trichy EEE branch?
B.Tech EEE is the most hectic course offered by NIT Trichy.
As a B.Tech EEE student, you’ll have classes and labs all day long. The faculty is experienced. Most of them are friendly and supportive, but you can only rely on self-study. You’ll have some of the brightest students as your peers. Try to befriend some of them as they will help you a lot in studies.
NIT Trichy is comparable to some of the old IITs, in terms of placements. Almost all the students of B.Tech EEE are successfully placed each year, and some of them even bag multiple offers. Those who don’t sit for placements, opt for higher studies in prestigious Indian and foreign universities.
NIT Trichy will offer you an awesome campus culture, and lifelong memories. Its EEE branch is hectic, but rewarding at the same time.
