Should I join IIT Delhi chemical or top NIT CSE?

SG
Sushmita Gupta Posted On : April 1st, 2023
studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi

Yes, irrespective of the branch, choosing IIT Delhi will always prove to be beneficial for you. IIT Delhi has ties with many big firms that visit the campus for placements and offer great packages irrespective of your branch. One needs to be proficient in DSA and other computer science core subjects such as OOPS, OS, DBMS, and Computer Networks. A good grasp of these will fetch you a high-paying job no matter which branch you belong to in IIT Delhi.

Although most companies that visit IIT Delhi also visit NIT, your IIT tag will always fetch you extra benefits and no one can deny that. For instance, the same role offered to an IITiand will have more salary than that offered to a non-IITian.You can easily switch roles and fields given the brand name of the institute you are associated with. IITians even have more opportunities for higher studies in Foreign countries than non-IITians.

IITians especially from Mumbai or Delhi are always given preference over non-IITians hence it is advisable to go for IIT Delhi in any branch.

How is the chemical engineering department at NIT Rourkela?

AB
Ankita Bhattacharya Posted On : January 15th, 2022
B.Tech Chemical Engineering & American Chemical Society, National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (2021)

According to the student’s reviews online, you should not opt for chemical engineering at NIT Rourkela.

Here are some reasons as to why:

  • The faculty of the department is not good, they are mostly new at their jobs and have very little educational experience.
  • They focus more on theoretical learning than practicals.
  • They prefer when students mug up theories rather than understanding them in depth.
  • The teachers sometimes give so many assignments that it becomes impossible to complete them in time.
  • There is a lot of communication gap between students and teachers.

Lastly, the placement scenario of this department is bad. Most of the students are going into the IT sector and a very few got recruited in core industries and many students did not even receive placement offers.

So considering everything it is suggested you do not pursue chemical engineering at NIT Rourkela.

Which is better, chemical engineering from UICET PU Chandigarh, chemical engineering from Thapar University Patiala or computer science from CCET Chandigarh (affiliated to PU)?

PK
Pankaj Kumar Posted On : August 5th, 2021
Studied at Delhi University (2019)

Having a few friends from both institutes I might be able to share some facts about both the institutes. Chemical Engineering at UICET is better than Chemical at Thapar University or CSE at CCET.

  • UICET is a well-renowned university and has a reputed department.
  • They have brilliant placement records and a strong alumni base.
  • Laboratories and faculty at UICET are better than those at Thapar.
  • Course fees at UICET for chemical engineering are very less than that in Thapar University.
  • Thapar is no doubt a well-reputed university but as far as chemical engineering is concerned UICET is better.
  • CCET is affiliated with PU located in sector-26 Chandigarh. It is well known for its diploma courses.
  • However, UICET is any day better than CCET in all terms.
Categories Chemical Engineering at UICET Chemical Engineering at Thapar University CSE at CCET Chandigarh
Course Fee INR 70,079 13.23 lakh 2.45 lakh
Highest CTC 18 LPA 15 LPA 12 LPA
Average CTC 6.31 LPA 7 LPA 4-5 LPA
Recruiting Companies Honeywell, Reliance, Pfizer, Piramal Healthcare, etc. Reliance, GAIL, ONGC, GlaxoSmithKline, etc. Infosys, Godrej, L&T, HCL, etc.

Your preference order should be Chemical Engineering at UICET> Chemical at Thapar University> CSE at CCET.

How is Chemical Engineering at NIT Surathkal?

SG
Shikha Ghosal Posted On : September 14th, 2023
Studied BTech in Computer Science, National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal (2019)

The Chemical Engineering branch at NIT Surathkal isn’t well-known because of its obsolete curriculum and poor placement scenario. I hope you haven’t yet joined it but if you have known that there is no turning back. It’s better to start working hard to compensate for the poor branch than to sit and regret.

It’s better to opt for Chemical in Trichy or Warangal. Otherwise, you can study hard in the 1st year and opt for a branch change. Even if you fail to get CSE/IT, even civil and mining will do.

I have many friends who joined this department recently and all of them are regretting their decision big time. Some even call it the worst in the institution. So I will recommend you to go for Chemical in NIT Warangal instead.
