How did you get into Loyola College?

I got 87% in the Tamil Nadu State Board exams and was really eager to study mathematics at Loyola College, even though my math score wasn't the best. I decided to apply for physics, mathematics, and chemistry, hoping to get into at least one of them. To my surprise, I got shortlisted for both physics and mathematics. I was over the moon and joined Loyola in 2016, and I stayed happy throughout my time there. Loyola isn't just a college; it's so much more.

I got into Loyola College by applying online after my 12th standard. The eligibility was straightforward; I needed to have passed with at least 50%. I submitted my application and was thrilled to see my name on the admission list a few days later.

The process didn't involve any entrance exams, making it easier for me to secure my place in the Bachelor of Commerce [B.Com] program. The reputation of Loyola played a big role in my decision, as I always wanted to be part of such a prestigious institution.

I got a 90% in my 12th grade exams and applied to several top colleges like MCC and Guru Nanak. I decided to apply for a B.Com at Loyola a few days after the results, which was a bit of a last-minute decision. About ten days later, Guru Nanak College in Velachery informed me that I was provisionally selected and needed to bring ?40,000. After talking it over with my family, I decided to pass on that offer.

At the end of May, one evening, I received another message saying I was provisionally accepted for B.Com (Commerce) Shift 2 at Loyola and had to pay ?40,360 for the first semester. I was so excited I couldn't sleep because getting into Loyola was my main goal during my 12th grade. It truly felt like a dream come true. I think it was on May 27th when I went for admission. The campus was incredible, like a little paradise, with everything neatly arranged. There were trees, birds chirping, and ancient buildings; even the drinking fountains had cups chained so they couldn’t be taken. The environment felt so welcoming. It’s hard to believe that right outside the campus, the city is bustling with traffic and pollution, because Loyola is right in the heart of Chennai. The campus feels like a world of its own.

After finishing up the admission process, my happiness was beyond words. It was quite an amazing journey, especially since I used to struggle and fail in at least two subjects in high school. Now, I'm proud to say I'm a Loyolite.

I’ve talked about my time at Loyola College, Chennai before, but I'm happy to share again. I attended from Pre-University Class through to my Bachelor of Commerce between 1966 and 1970. Coming from St. Gabriel’s High School in Broadway, Chennai, I had pretty good marks on my SSLC exam, which made it easier for me to get into Loyola. That’s about all I can say here.
