Prof. Devendra Jalihal is the current director of IIT Guwahati. Prof. Jalihal assumed the position of the director of IITG on 15 May 2024, succeeding Prof. Rajeev Ahuja (former Director of IIT Guwahati).

Before Prof. Jalihal was appointed as the Director of IIT Guwahati, he was a Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Madras. Prof. Devendra Jalihal completed his B.Tech. (Hons.) from IIT Kharagpur, and his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Duke University.
