basically Amity has two admission buckets — non-sponsored (NS) is normal merit-based admission, and sponsored (S) is for students who don't hit the cutoff but still want in.

sponsored category means:

  • eligibility bar is ~5% lower (55% PCM instead of 60% for BTech)
  • fees are noticeably higher — around Rs.1.5–2L extra per semester vs NS
  • same classes, same degree, same placements as everyone else

here's what most people actually wanna know — sponsored vs NS does NOT appear on your degree certificate. employers will never know. so career-wise it makes zero difference.

is it worth it though? Amity BTech already costs ~Rs.16-17 lakhs total for NS. sponsored can push that to Rs.28–30 lakhs. for a college where avg placements are around Rs.4–5 LPA, that ROI is genuinely questionable ngl. explore other colleges at similar fees before committing to sponsored at Amity.

Amity University has categorized admissions as sponsored and non-sponsored. The sponsored category students include those candidates who have low merit in the required qualifying examination.

The university reduces the eligibility and cutoff criteria for such students for which they are charged comparatively higher fees. In most of the courses available at Amity University, the institute has provided a 5% relaxation in the eligibility criteria to students who are willing to take admission under the sponsored category.

The table below shows the difference in the cutoff criteria for admission under sponsored and non-sponsored categories for an MBA at Amity University Noida:

Exam Cutoff 2024 (Non-Sponsored Category) Cutoff 2024 (Sponsored Category)
MAT 650 Scores 600 Scores
GMAT 550 Scores 500 Scores
CMAT 200 Scores 150 Scores
CAT 85 Percentile 75 Percentile
XAT 85 Percentile 75 Percentile
NMAT 250 Scores  200 Scores

From the table given above, we can see that the cutoff for all exams is lower for sponsored category students. The first-year semester fee for Amity University MBA sponsored category is INR 5,83,500 (Noida campus) whereas the per semester fee for non-sponsored category students is INR 3,89,000. The fee structure for both categories has a difference of around INR 2 Lakhs which is a huge amount to be paid for six months.

Students who come from financially well-off families are usually admitted in the sponsored category and do not have to worry about scoring more in the examinations held.
