The choice must be done purely based on your interest. If you are not that interested in coding and if you take a lot of time to understand the core language, there is no point in opting CS even if it's in high demand. Once you enjoy what you are learning you will succeed in your job position. Otherwise, there is no point in being hung up in a course which you don't enjoy and for four years or even for the rest of your life.

My friends have been studying in both NIT Hamirpur and PEC Chandigarh and according to their first-hand experience, PEC Chandigarh holds an edge. Here’s why:

• It lies in a prime location viz. Chandigarh. The city has better and numerous opportunities. It is an education hub in the North, hence making it easier to plan and implement your higher education goals. There are ample coaching centers as well in case you want to prepare for government exams.

• PEC has better placement and internship options as well, again it is due to the location advantage.

Overall, while both the colleges offer good education, NIT holds a big brand name. However, factors like location and opportunities come first when in such a dilemma. Also, as you are getting the same branch in both the colleges, choose PEC Chandigarh any day.

• The department of Civil engineering, has highly experienced and knowledgeable faculty. 
• Most of the faculties from IITS, NITS and others esteemed institutes such as NITTTR, Thapar University and other great universities from India.

• The university provides the best infrastructure possible for all courses.

Also, for masters Adams University, Kolkata is the only university in Kolkata that offers M.Tech in Environmental Engineering and Structural Engineering. Therefore, one should definitely choose this university as the university is growing and suitable for the civil department course.

Out of the two branches, Civil Engineering from CUSAT is the better choice. The following reasons will justify the choice.

• The median package offered by the branch is INR 4.5 LPA.
• The branch has a cut-off of 2313, i.e., quality people get admitted.

• The Civil Department has excellent and experienced faculty. They provide quality learning to their students.

• The campus is vast, spread across 180 acres. You can enjoy life with academics.

• There are extra-curricular and practical learning opportunities throughout the years.

• The curriculum followed by CUSAT is quite decent and well-framed. It is considered to be more rigid than other universities. But it is not very difficult to grasp if you put in hard work.

The placements of both the branches are bad. Civil Engineering packages are not excellent across India, but CUSAT is a preferred choice.Civil Engineering is decent for the students if they want to work in core companies. However, if you are choosing EEE, then you can appear for civil services examinations and a job guarantee will be there.
