Here we compared two different courses and colleges with different alumni network and branding in the market, so it is tough to choose one over the other. No doubt IIT Madras has consistently been ranked amongst the top 3 colleges in the country, but IIT Tirupati is also making progress and has highly qualified faculty providing ample opportunities to excel in the field one chooses.
I will throw some light on the harsh reality of Chemical Engineering at IIT KGP or in India generally.
Chemical Engineering in India is almost non-existent and the job prospects of the same are nill.
One of my friends recently took a drop year just to get BITS Goa. It has always been his dream college and he is glad he left NIT for BITS Goa. Several factors combined helped him take this bold step. I have mentioned the core reasons below
I think these points summarize well the fact that BITS Pilani is a far better choice than NIT Surathkal.
One of my close friends is a third-year undergraduate student in the Department of chemical engineering at IIT Kanpur. After considering all the other choices that his rank allows he finally chose Chemical Engineering.
A majority of IITians take non-core jobs because of their easy availability and much better packages. If you are one of them, then definitely go for Chemical instead of Mechanical. This is because Chemical Engineering has a lesser workload and rigor in comparison to Mechanical, which gives you a lot of time to prepare for non-core jobs. However, it’s important to note that this is applicable only if you are targeting non-core jobs in finance or coding.
But if you are planning to go for Civil Services preferably IES, it’s better to opt for mechanical because you cannot prepare for IES along with chemical engineering.
For core jobs, going for an old IIT like IIT Kanpur is the safest and best you can make Hyderabad doesn't even stand a chance in that case.
Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur is part of the premier NIT engineering institutes of India. It is ranked 28 overall by NIRF 2020. It is also considered an institute of national importance, according to the government of India. It provides a number of engineering courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. levels.
Institute of Chemical Technology has received an A++ accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council as well as the Ministry of Human Resource Development. It has been claimed to be the 18th best institute for Engineering by NIRF rankings.

Thus it completely depends on the students and which college they want to pursue for their future.
It depends on how passionate you are in either of the fields. If your interest lies in Chemical engineering, you cannot go wrong with BITS Goa. Being ranked 30th for engineering in India by NIRF 2020. BITS offers a BE degree in Chemical engineering and has a faculty-student ratio of 1:15 with highly qualified and experienced professors.

Both BITS and PESU are prestigious Institutes in India that offer quality education. The deciding factor here is the field in which you dream to build your career. It is to be mentioned that opportunity is quite less for Chemical engineering students when compared to CSE at BITS or anywhere in India in general. But if you are passionate about the subject you should go for it.
Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) is a public engineering university, situated in Varanasi. The institute has tie-ups with the University of Cambridge (UK), University of Oxford (UK), University of Sheffield (UK). The course offers great scope as placements at the institute are also very good, with students landing great placements. Students may also pursue post-graduation in any engineering branch or an integrated chemical engineering course at the institute. Students can head into petrochemical industries, petroleum refineries, cement factories, food processing, and technology units, and various other industries after completing the course. Students with an interest in the subject should opt for the course at IIT BHU.
For Chemical Engineering, St. Joseph Engineering College is average at best.
St. Joseph is a decent option for Chemical Engineering. But if you have better choices, go for them.
