Both Mechanical and CSE are good branches and offer ample placement opportunities. In this case, you should choose between the colleges.

IIT Delhi is one of the top Engineering colleges in India. They have the finest faculty, and IITD alumni have the highest number of unicorns in India. With an IIT tag, you can easily grab a job in top MNCs. Being an IITian opens great opportunities for you to pursue your higher studies at US/European Universities.

IIT Delhi Placements are top-notch. Even its Mechanical branch records an average salary close to 12 LPA. Several Finance, IT, and non-IT MNCs are open for every branch during placement season at IIT Delhi. So, you can switch to an IT career later on. For UPSC/GATE aspirants, Delhi is the ideal location.

CSE is a more in-demand branch at present. However, IIT Delhi offers much more opportunities to its students than NIT Surathkal. Therefore, I would suggest you choose ME at IITD rather than CSE at NIT Surathkal.

Both IIT Mandi Patna and IIT Jodhpur are well-respected institutions for mechanical engineering. However, it ultimately depends on which one aligns better with your personal preferences and career goals.

IIT Mandi Patna has a strong focus on research in the areas of energy, materials, and manufacturing, whereas IIT Jodhpur has a wider approach to mechanical engineering and has ties with many leading companies across the globe.

Personally, I am more in favor of IIT Jodhpur. I have a few pieces of information regarding IIT Jodhpur Mechanical Engineering.

IIT Jodhpur provides an opportunity to go for an industrial summer internship in the first year itself. Companies that recruit students for internships are Mahindra & Mahindra, TATA Motors, TVS, L&T, and others.
IIT Jodhpur IIP or the Industrial Immersion Programme offers an insight into the industry and allows you to take projects of Industrial interest as your B. Tech. Project.
IIT Jodhpur faculty is very much research-oriented, especially in the fields of thermal, robotics, and materials and manufacturing. This gives the students an opportunity to pursue a master's or PhD after graduation under their mentorship.

Which is better, a BTech in mechanical engineering from GEC Thrissur or BTech in safety & fire engineering from CUSAT?

There is no better course as the choice of a course depends a lot on one’s preferences and future prospects. You need enough passion to like a course because every course has its good and bad parts.

BTech in Mechanical Engineering should be considered only if you are interested in it genuinely because it’s quite challenging. BTech in Safety and Engineering is mistakenly considered to be the easiest BTech program but the reality is far from this. This course covers topics from Mechanical, Civil, and even Chemical. As a result, this branch ends up being the Jack of all trades but the Master of none. The students of this branch are capable of handling HSE in almost any type of industry.

The placements of the Safety and Fire Engineering program are decent despite the limited opportunities. Companies like Reliance, BPCL, IOCL, ONGC, and VEDANTHA make good offers here.

So my verdict is to go for Mechanical if you are sure about your interest in it else Safety and Fire Engineering is a good choice.

Which is the better college for BTech mechanical engineering: FISAT Kochi or SCMS Cochin?

FISAT Kochi has been ranked at 96th for Engineering among Indian Engineering colleges, and SCMS Cochin has been ranked 85th in the same list. Both the colleges are private institutes, approved by AICTE.

Admission Process:

Admissions to the FISAT BTech program is based on the scores obtained inKEAM/JEE Main, followed by counselling, and admission to the programme through management quota is based on the rank in the merit list. 50% of total seats are reserved for centralized allotment by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, and the remaining 50% are reserved for management quota (including NRI)
At SCMS Cochin, admission is through counselling based on rank obtained in Kerala Engineering, Architecture, Medical (KEAM), and the same is for the Management quota.

According to recent reviews and ratings, the mechanical engineering program at IITMandi is well-regarded. The program lays a strong foundation in the field and prepares them well for careers in industry or further study.

Mechanical Engineering at IIT Mandi has a well-structured and flexible curriculum that bends as per the recent trends in the industry.
The first 3 semesters have common IC courses that are common to all branches.
In the first semester, you will be taught Engineering drawing which is the foundation course of ME.
In the second semester, the number of courses increases. Some of the common courses added are Thermodynamics, Mechanics for waves and particles, and Product Realization Technology.
The second semester also witnesses mechanical lab sessions that help transform your theoretical knowledge into practical implementation. You become familiar with many machines.
The second year welcomes another set of courses like Machine drawing, Rigid Body, and Materials Science

Basically, students are taught a few courses on ME every semester till the 2nd year, and starting from the 3rd year, they are taught core courses on ME.

You are comparing two different engineering branches which are core and are perfect in their own place. Also, the selection of the branch should be primarily based on your interest and future plans. It is very important you choose a branch of your interest, as you will spend 4 years learning it. So, decide on the basis of your interest.

NIT Jamshedpur is much better than BIT Mesra in placements except CSE. CSE has slightly better placement in BIT Mesra than NIT Jamshedpur but then the gap is decreasing year by year. So, you can easily opt for the choice of field you want.

Core Jobs:

Both the branches have an equal number of core jobs and both mechanical and electrical engineers are needed at any manufacturing firm.
So in this case, it primarily boils down to your inclination towards either of the two branches.

Non-Core Jobs:

Electrical Engineers also have the opportunity to switch their career to software engineering without much difficulty.
Mechanical Engineers generally don't have this Liberty.

Government Jobs:

Mechanical Engineering has the highest no. of vacancies in PSUs and Engineering services.

Several core companies come to campus at Jamshedpur in TATA town, TATA Powers and TATA Motors pick many students for jobs as well as for internships. Now, this brings a great advantage for both Mechanical as well as Electrical branch students.

Talking about infrastructure, BIT Mesra has a more beautiful campus than NIT Jamshedpur. If you want facilities, you should go with BIT Mesra. But, placement wise NIT Jamshedpur is far ahead of BIT Mesra, which is again proving NIT Jamshedpur worth over bit Mesra.

Based on the above parameters, you can decide for yourself. Regarding the two colleges you mentioned, both are equally good and have roughly the same student quality. BIT Mesra has an edge in software profiles and NIT Jamshedpur in Core Engineering placements.
