How is life at NIT Warangal for a CSE student?
First year at NIT Warangal Is common for students of all branches. The first year is the most exciting year filled with a number of dynamic events round the year. The first year witnesses two annual festivals
- SpringSpree , the cultural festival
- Technozion , the technical festival
These festivals give you enough memories to last a lifetime.
First-year students are allotted the Ultra Mega Hostel also known as 1.8k which is Asia’s biggest hostel. The hostel has a total of 9 floors connected with lifts and endless corridors. Life here is never dull even for a second.
The students are provided 24/7 high speed unlimited internet connection and WiFi. Additionally, the vast DC++ internal college network provides instant access to hundreds of TB of movies, TV series and games.
The CSE department has an excellent academic environment with a plethora of job opportunities in huge firms like Google and Microsoft. Additionally, you get the chances to pursue research internships or MS top foreign universities.
So, the life of a first year student at NIT Warangal is filled with a lot of exciting events and memories!
Is IIT Mandi or Bits Pilani better for studying Computer Science?
BITS Pilani is better for studying Computer Science. It is an old and reputed technological institute with an excellent placement record. BITS Pilani placements 2022 witnessed the highest CTC of INR 1.33 CPA. The average CTC stood around INR 28.99 LPA.
Due to the no reservation policy, the student crowd of the institute is excellent. You will share your classrooms with talented people. BITS has a thriving research culture. From the 2nd year onwards, you can take part in study projects/computer projects/lab-oriented projects. Also, the compulsory internships can be a great value add to your resume.
How is Sharda University for CSE?
One of my friends studied at Sharda University and according to him, it was the biggest regret of his life. He pointed out some good and bad things about the college, which I will be sharing with you.
There is no ragging and the infrastructure is pretty good. It is the only thing good about the college.
The university has many flaws like -
- The crowd and the overall exposure are not good.
- The tests conducted at Sharda are extremely easy and you do not need to study for more than a day before the exam.
- A GPA of 8+ can be easily scored, yet a majority of students are stuck around a GPA of 5 to 7.
- The university has attendance criteria of 75% which is very strict. For students who travel via Sharda bus or metro from Delhi, it is very difficult to keep up with this.
- The administration of the college is not good either. The complaints are mostly ignored.
- Many workshops are conducted but the students are not able to attend them because of the attendance criteria.
- The hostels are in pretty bad condition too, so, it is better to opt for PGs or Private Hostels.
- The faculty is not enthusiastic about teaching or researching in their field.
- In the first semester, a lot of time is wasted in learning Physics, Maths, Chemistry, Moral Science, EVS, Multimedia, AutoCAD, Mechanical in your B.Tech CSE. None of these subjects are related to the branch.
If you scored badly in JEE or any other competitive exam but are willing to improve yourself and do not see any other options available, then you can join Sharda University.
Should I join NIT Warangal for CSE or a new IIT with civil engineering?
I always recommend people give preference to branches over the institute. This is because if you go for a less preferred branch, you will end up taking a software job anyways. So it’s better to choose a NIT instead of an IIT provided that you get CSE.
If you join the CSE branch at NIT Warangal you will develop software skills and succeed in the field rather than taking up the job just because you had no other options in Civil. The exposure offered to CSE in NIT Warangal is great and students can be seen participating in coding competitions that enhance their coding abilities tenfold. You end up becoming a skilled programmer and not an average programmer who had to choose the field unwillingly.
So, joining NI MT Warangal CSE is a better option than joining Civil Engineering at a new IIT unless you want to get government jobs like IES, Civil services.
What are the future prospects of Maths and Computing (MC) at DCE(DTU)?
MC is a new branch at DTU so very little is known about it. My answer will surely help you gain help you consider it as a prospective choice.
Brand value: DTU's brand value has been able to attract a good crowd of students and recruiters over the past years. Despite having average faculties, it gives you enough resources and opportunities to pursue your passions in versatile fields. DTU offers exposure at the level of NITs.
- Alumni network: Although the branch specifically has a small alumni pool. Let me tell you that overall DTU alumni are spread across the globe in successful careers and are very helpful.
- Culture: DTU promotes programming through a number of societies and groups for DCE coders. You will find many Android/Windows/PHP developers that are very approachable.
- Placements: The CSE placement scenario at DTU is excellent and at par with Software engineers and Information technologists. Around 75% of the companies offer a non-tech profile or a core computer engineering profile.
- Research culture: This branch is a great choice for research enthusiasts as it is a perfect blend of mathematics and computing useful in a variety of research projects such as Data Mining, Big Data, Machine Learning, etc The professors will guide you through these projects but you will have to approach them frequently.

It can be safely concluded that the file of computers is incomplete without Mathematics and this branch is here to fulfill the gap between the two. This branch rightly proves that Math and Computing go hand in hand.

MC is going to be one of the leading branches in the near future provided that committed students choose it and give their all to prove this branch's credibility.
I am getting IIT Patna CSE, but being from Delhi, living in Patna scares the hell out of me. How can I deal with this thought?
My friend is a student at IIT Patna and shared his side of the story about city life there. Unlike the general misconception, Patna is rather a safe city.
He visited the city frequently to buy basic things and never did he feel unsafe or comfortable during the 4 years of his stay.
The campus of IIT Patna spreads across a massive 500 acres and is beautifully designed. The campus is still in its development phase but not to the extent that it will hamper your college life experience in any way. Students can be seen roaming around and indulging in sports such as table tennis and cricket.
As for the CS department, IIT Patna is very dynamic and has many clubs that will keep you motivated and interested in the field. I would certainly recommend you to go to IIT Patna and experience the bliss of college life.
Out of NIT Trichy, NIT Surathkal and NIT Warangal, which one is the best for a CSE?
The CSE from all three campuses is extremely sought after and has a high reputation in the job market. They are often compared to IITs. The choice between the two is therefore a matter of personal preferences.
Warangal gives a slight edge to Surathkal owing to its proximity to Hyderabad, the IT hub of India although the difference isn’t much noticeable. Surathkal has a slight advantage in terms of campus life and weather. It is the only college to have a private beach.
Ultimately, there aren’t any major differences between these colleges. If you want a better campus life go for Surathkal but if you want better academic opportunities go for NIT Warangal or NIT Trichy.
Which one is better for a BTech (CSE): Lovely Professional University or Galgotias University?
I did my BTech CSE from Galgotias University, but I will put forth an unbiased opinion.
Here are some factors to compare the two universities-
LPU has good facilities and infrastructure, but I would suggest you opt for Galgotias since it will offer you better opportunities and academics.
- Fees-
- The tuition fee for B.Tech CSE at Galgotias is INR 1.54 lakh per annum. The exam fee is INR 15,000 per annum.
- At LPU, the BTech CSE course fee is INR 1.40 lakh per semester. The exam fee is INR 4,500 per semester. But LPU offers various scholarships to meritorious students. You can visit- https://www.lpu.in/programmes/engineering/b-tech-computer-science for more details.
- Education- The faculty and curriculum of GU are better. Getting decent grades is also comparatively easier at Galgotias.
- Management- LPU has over 10,000+ students in total, which is why it’s difficult for the college management to cater to the needs of each and everyone. The management at GU handles student problems more effectively.
- Campus- LPU has a bigger and better campus as compared to Galgotias.
Which is better: IIT Guwahati CSE or IIT BHU CSE?
Instead of recommending any specific institute, there are some myths that need to be debunked first:
- Placements at one institute are better than the other.
- BHU has a wider network.
- IITG has a cooler administration.
You must compare the two courses based on the following features:
- Academic research
- Placement statistics
- Competitive coding
- Open-source development
- Other club activities
- Climate and geography
- Connectivity (and distance from hometown)
If you're specifically interested in CSE, then the first four points are almost equal for both BHU and Guwahati. When it comes to the other points, IITG has a better climate, while Varanasi may be better connected and nearer to your hometown.
So, it's up to you to weigh the pros and cons and decide which institute suits you better. Remember to make an informed decision and choose wisely.
What should I choose between NIT Surathkal CSE and IIT Kanpur civil chemical
I would recommend you choose IIT over NIT any day irrespective of the branch because it is recognized globally. The quality of packages and roles offered are also better and with the right motivation and determination, one can even change his branch to a better one.
At IIT Kanpur, I would advise you to go for Chemical rather than Civil. BTech Chemical Engineering combined with Masters in Petroleum Engineering is the highest paying bracket in the USA with more than 74000 Jobs available for outsiders in the Middle East, US, and Canada at a five yr median of $ 18600.
Additionally, at IIT Kanpur the ocean of electives to choose from enables you to pursue CS course side by side through certifications in 64/128/256 bit SSL Encryption, Data Structures, and Oracle which have great importance. While CS students can be found everywhere, you will find only a few Chemical Engineers.
Concludingly, it’s best to go for IIT Kanpur Chemical for the long term or IIT Kanpur Civil with a branch change to EEE or Mechanical in mind.
