How did you manage your UPSC preparation while doing an M.Tech from IIT Delhi?

SG
Sushmita Gupta Posted On : April 1st, 2023
studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi

The key to manage your UPSC preparation while doing an MTech from IIT Delhi is to score well in your optional subjects rather than General Subjects. A successful candidate scores 275+ in optional whereas an unsuccessful candidate scores around 240. The General Subjects' scores are usually the same.

So prepare well for optional in MTech because you can prepare for GS in just a year. Focus more on optional as it’s a major criterion for selection.

How can I prepare for the UGEE at IIIT Hyderabad in 10 days?

GM
Gaurav Mishra Posted On : July 31st, 2023
studied at International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad

IIIT Hyderabad UGEE is nothing like JEE Mains as it is highly predictable and you can never guess the weightage a certain topic will have even after going through the previous year's paper. The syllabus is also not fixed so it might be difficult to procure the right study material.

One of my friends was in a similar situation and one week before the exam he decided to browse YouTube to find something to study. He came across IIT prep which had extensive study materials, previous year papers, a detailed paper analysis, and a syllabus. This platform has amazing content and that too free. You can even find PDFs and Books that you can download and read thereby increasing your chance of clearing the first round.

So the best way to crack IIIT Hyderabad UGEE Exam is to go through IIIT Prep.

One of my friends graduated from LNCT Bhopal and here are a few tips for you.

  • Look for industry-based courses online or offline and start doing certifications. It will help you in building your profile and will also boost your placement chances.
  • Try to score a GPA above 7.5 as it will help you in placement offers. My friend was placed in Capgemini and trust me your grades are important.
  • Keep active participation in as many events as possible and receive co-curricular certificates.
  • You must know how to frame good answers as it will help you in getting good grades.
  • Maintain a good rapport with seniors. They may help you someday.
  • Don't rely on the college for knowledge. The syllabus is outdated. Get yourself practical knowledge from anywhere you can.
  • Maintain a good relationship with the faculty members.
  • Plan for the future. If you are planning for MBA, GATE, or Civil Services exams start preparing from the 2nd year itself.

It is up to you only how you want to utilize the time during your college days. You can either succeed or fail. Be responsible and act wisely.

Are IGNOU materials really beneficial for UPSC preparation? Where can I download them for free?

AU
Abhishek Upadhyay Posted On : October 20th, 2022
MA in Political Science, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

IGNOU course material is useful for preparation, but it is not of the highest quality in some subject areas. IGNOU Literature, Social Science, and Science stream books are excellent for preparing for the UPSC civil services examination, but Mathematics stream books are not.

You can get the books from IGNOU's official book archive, eGyankosh. Here, you must first create a login ID and password combination, and then click the "enter your search query" option in the website's search option for the desired search process.

However, there is a disadvantage in that on the eGyankosh website, chapter-by-chapter downloading options are available rather than whole-book downloading, which requires significantly more effort than usual.

What do I prepare for SIBM, SCMHRD interviews?

AD
Aditi Deshpande Posted On : June 2nd, 2023
Lives in Pune,Maharashtra

You can never guess what the interviewer will ask in the interview, no matter how well-read you’re and how comfortable you are with talking about the current happenings. Still, it always helps boost your confidence and gives you a chance to take the conversation in any direction you want.

  • Start with the basics and read your resume 10 times a day before your interview; prepare 3-4 lines on every keyword mentioned in your resume.
  • Be aware of the news that aligns with your interest in any manner according to your resume. For example, if you have work experience and left the company last year, just check if it’s on the news or has undergone any major changes after your exit.
  • Always have a few good achievements examples ready to back your stories up.

Remember, you don’t need to know everything you’re asked, it certainly helps if you know everything but trust me the panel is observing your approach towards a particular question. So all the best!!

Can someone provide any guidelines to help me in the preparation for NISM Equity Derivatives Examination?

US
Utsav Saha Posted On : October 29th, 2021
studied at BIT Mesra (2017)

NISM - VIII Equity Derivatives Examination is one of the toughest examinations in the NISM series. In order to perform well in the examination, you will need a good understanding of derivatives, it’s uses, and their operations. The passing mark is 60% and there will be a deduction of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

One of my friends recently took the examination and according to him, just reading the workbook provided by them is not enough to perform well in the examination. You will need to practice numerical too. My friend used an app called ‘NISM Equity Derivatives See 8’. The app had around 500 questions and solutions. According to my friend it was quite helpful for preparation.

There are no shortcuts for scoring well in NISM-VIII. In order to perform well, you need to have a thorough understanding of Indian derivatives segments.
