Which one should I prefer: IIIT Bangalore ECE, IIIT Lucknow CSAI or IIIT Gwalior CSE?

PP

CS and EC are very different branches. You need to decide which branch interests you more.

EC is about electronics and how the different electrical components communicate with one another. It involves a lot of Physics. It only involves a little programming. CS, on the other hand, is all about programming. It mainly uses logic and math.

If you are interested in programming, CSAI from IIIT Lucknow is the better choice. AI/ML is in huge demand in the industry as most things will be automated in the future. Placements and coding culture are top-notch at all these colleges. Students from IIIT Lucknow and IIIT Bangalore perform well in competitions like ACM ICPC.

All these colleges are good. You should make your choice based on your field of interest.

How are EEE and ECE trades at NIT Jamshedpur?

AS
Anand Sagar Posted On : April 23rd, 2021
Studied at the National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur

What your preference is and what interests you, these two are very important at making the right choice.

If any of the two branches is of your preference and interest, then you should go for it.

If you have no such preferences and interests and you are only looking at the job prospects after graduating, then I would suggest you consider the following things:

  • Government and Public Sector: These sectors provide more jobs in the electrical field. If you secure a decent GATE score, you will get a lot of interview opportunities in the PSUs. Indian Engineering Services is also an option that has more job opportunities in the electrical branch than the electronic branch. There are very limited opportunities for electronics in the public sector.
  • Private Sector: It is the opposite here. The electronics sector is much ahead in the private sector. You will find a lot of companies providing good salary packages in electronics than electrical. However, the job is not core electronics but software profile.
  • Faculty: The faculty at NIT Jamshedpur is better in the electrical branch than the electronic branch.
  • Laboratories: Electrical branch has better labs than the electronic branch.
  • Academic Curriculum: Electrical branch has a lot more pressure than the electronic branch. A few senior faculty members of the electrical branch will make you cry while in the electronic branch, you can secure good marks even by studying less.

All these are relevant factors to keep in mind before making a choice. Now, the choice is yours.

Which is best, ECE at Thapar University or CSE at Jaypee Noida?

SP
Shaguna Pandey Posted On : August 12th, 2021
B.Tech Computer Programming, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (2019)

CSE at JIIT is clearly better than ECE at Thapar. You must have a minimum JEE rank of 51,000 to get CSE at JIIT Noida.

There are no state quota, caste quota, or NRI quota at JIIT but Thapar offers a 50% quota for Punjab state students. This results in a superior quality of students at JIIT Noida than Thapar. Due to quotas and an increase in the number of seats, anyone can get admission at Thapar University.

If a student has a 300,000 rank in JEE Main, he will not be able to gain a seat anywhere, but if he is from Punjab, he may be able to secure a place in Electrical Engineering in Thapar. This explains how Thapar's situation has deteriorated.

JIIT will offer you great exposure which is actually required in CSE with regular industrial visits. CSE has more scope in terms of placements than ECE.

Is joining UIET Chandigarh (ECE) worth it?

RB
Rekha Bose Posted On : May 31st, 2021
Studied at University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Panjab University

Most colleges in India, even the top ones, usually fail to provide good placement opportunities for core branches like Electronics Engineering. The majority of the ECE students find their own way to get into consultancies, IT MNCs, or startups, some also choose to prepare for examinations like GATE and CAT.

UIET provides a good environment for the preparation of competitive examinations. Also, at least 50% of students of core branches in UIET prepare for GATE, CAT, or GRE. If you are expecting placement in one of the core branches, then don't join ECE in UIET rather take branches like CSE and IT.

If you are hardworking and want to prepare for GATE/CAT/GRE/ESE/UPSC then you can join UIET. Chandigarh has many good coaching centers for the preparation of these examinations.

What is the placement scene at IIIT Hyderabad for the B.Tech in ECE course?

GM
Gaurav Mishra Posted On : August 2nd, 2023
studied at International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad

The B.Tech ECE placements at IIIT Hyderabad are decent. Few top semiconductor companies like Nvidia, Broadcom and Synopsys visit the campus with placement offers. Very few students, however, get offers from core companies. Those who are not placed in core companies get offers from Software companies with decent packages. These are the 2022 placement highlights for B.Tech ECE branch at IIIT Hyderabad-

Branch

Placement Percentage

Highest Package

Average Package

Lowest Package

ECE

100%

INR 46 LPA

INR 29 LPA

INR 13 LPA

ECE undergraduates get less salary in comparison to CSE undergraduates. Some reasons for the same are-

  1. CSE companies do not value experience as much as ECE companies.
  2.  When it comes to ECE, there is a huge gap between academia and industry.
  3. In India, there are fewer ECE related companies, hence less jobs in the field.
  4. IIIT Hyderabad ECE branch is not as reputed as the CSE branch over there.

Overall, the average package and placement scenario for B.Tech ECE students from IIIT Hyderabad is quite decent.

How are placements at acharya institute of technology for ECE branch?

GM
Girish Munjal Posted On : February 16th, 2021
BE in Electronics and Communications Engineering, Acharya Institute of Technology, 2017

Acharya Institute of Technology provides good placements within the ECE department. Mostly the IT companies visit very often and recruit ECE students only. Around 90 - 95% of the eligible students get placed. And many students get off-campus placements too.

Placement Stats - ECE (2021):

Placement Rate

70%

Highest Salary Package

29 LPA

Median Salary Package

3.6 LPA

Total seats

120

Students have a relatively higher chance of getting placed if their aggregate score is maintained above 60% and they have good knowledge and communication skills. Since multiple companies visit the college during recruitment drives, all students have to do is appear for these campus interviews and perform exceedingly well by giving it their best shot.

The institute observes a good blend of ECE core companies as well as IT companies, for students who may be interested in getting into the software sector.

Apart from this, your skills, individual performance in interviews, and overall CGPA will determine the results of your placements at Acharya Institute of Technology within the ECE branch.

Which should I choose between PICT, MIT Pune, VIT Pune, for ENTC or WCE Sangli electronics?

AC
Abhinav Chowdhury Posted On : October 16th, 2023
Lives in Pune, Maharashtra, India

Here is a detailed analysis of the aforementioned colleges based on some common aspects

  • Branch: Electronics and E&TC are two very different branches covering many different subjects. So it’s best to go through the syllabus and then decide the branch of your choice.
  • Academics: Academically, VIT Pune and WCE Sangli are better choices than MIT and POCT mainly because both are autonomous and have a pointer scale and thus scoring a good CGPA is easier.
  • Fees: WCE charges the least among these colleges mainly because it’s a government-funded college. PICT charges fewer fees in comparison with MIT and VIT.
  • Location: All three institutes namely PICT, MIT & VIT, are in Pune so enjoy great location benefits

Hope you make a wise choice!

How is Velammal Engineering College Chennai for ECE?

RM
Ritabrita Mitra Posted On : March 29th, 2023
studied at Indian Statistical Institute

Velammal Engineering College, located in Chennai, is a well-known institution that offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including ECE. However, there are some concerns about the college that are mentioned below:

  • Funding: Velammal Medical College and Velammal Schools need money and are funded by VEC, VIT, and Velammal College in Madurai.
  • Charges and Food: VEC charges a breakage fee at the end of the semester, even if nothing has been broken. Additionally, the canteen and mess are overpriced, and there have been reports of bugs and worms in the food.
  • Faculty: Most of the professors at VEC are lazy and are busy motivating their students to do their Ph.D. work. While some professors may be less passionate about teaching, others may be more engaged with their students and committed to providing quality education.

Lab Assistants: Most of them are rude, and the procedure to use lab equipment is lengthy. While this may be a concern, it's important to remember that lab assistants are responsible for ensuring that lab equipment is used safely and effectively. The procedures in place may be necessary to prevent damage to the equipment or ensure the safety of the students.
