The placement rate for CSE is around 100%. Microsoft, Deloitte, Adobe, American Express, Ericsson, Capgemini, etc. visit IIIT Naya Raipur placements.
Which is better, chemical at IIT Kharagpur or CS at IIT Mandi?
Choosing Chemical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur is a better option as compared to CS at IIT Mandi. IIT KGP is a much older institution with a rich legacy and a stronger alumni network. Other than that, Chemical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur has an active research culture.
On the other hand, IIT Mandi may not be the best option because of its recent establishment. Although the IIT Mandi placements seem promising, they are nowhere near IIT KGP placements.

The preference is always given to BITS Goa as it belongs to the most reputed family of BITS institute. One of my friends has studied there and he loves the campus from all aspects.
The major reasons as to why BITS Goa is to be preferred are:
Scope
- CSE has more job opportunities in the market as compared to other branches of engineering.
- If you even go for a core organization in the chemical field; the highest package is not more than 6 LPA.
- In the case of CSE, if you are into coding a good package can be cracked.
- The highest package is close to 1.40 crore in BITS Goa. The average also stands at a decent place.
- The prominent recruiters are - ADM Argo, Adobe, Bajaj Auto, Capgemini, CGI, Cisco, DE Shaw, EXL Services, Razor Pay, Reliance Jio, Freshworks and Goldman Sachs.
Faculty
- The computer science faculty cannot be compared with chemical engineering.
- CS faculty is amazing having well-equipped knowledge in the field to deal with real competition. They all are efficient in imparting real practical skill set to their students in a proper manner.
Campus
- Goa is a place people look out for holidays, and having a college in Goa makes it even more fascinating and attractive.
- Certain limitations are also imposed on students. You cannot leave the campus before 5 PM and you should return back by 11 PM.
BITS Goa makes it a better option on all fronts whether its faculty, campus, or scope. Having this outlook will help you get to a good institute. The stream can be a point of interest but other factors also matter.
Which is better for Chemical Engineering, NIT Rourkela or ICT Mumbai?
My suggestion will be the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai. The reasons are mentioned below.
- It is solely dedicated to chemical engineering, unlike NIT Rourkela.
- It is famous for producing brilliant chemical engineers for years now.
- It has location benefits as Maharashtra and Gujarat are home to many industries. This helps in easy internship opportunities and placements also.
- Many good companies and even PSUs participate in the campus placement drive. Even if you have low CGPA points, you will get hired if you do well at the interview.
- The professors are the best in their respective domains. They also have good connections in the industry. They can help you get placed in any industry with just one letter.
Chemical engineering is a part of many departments in NIT Rourkela or any other NIT but ICT Mumbai specializes in it. Hope it helps.
Will it be a good choice to choose the chemical branch in LNCT Mains Bhopal?
LNCT Bhopal is without a doubt Madhya Pradesh's most reputable private engineering college. In addition, LNCT is the only engineering college in Bhopal that offers Chemical Engineering among the 65 private engineering institutes. This institution provides appropriate guidance as well as practical analysis.
But Chemical Engineering at the institute does not enjoy the same exposure as branches like CSE or IT. If you want decent placement opportunities then you will have to work for them on your own. In 2021 placement drive Chemical Engineering students from LNCT were recruited by Indian Oil, Tata Chemicals, Reliance Petroleum, etc.
