What is the placement scenario for the IIM Indore IPM students?
Previous batches of IPM at IIM Indore have performed excellently in placements and bore good results. You will be recruited based on your capabilities during the placement season. Being an IPM student, you can sit with PGP students for placements.
This year’s placements were conducted virtually. The highlights of the placement season of 2021 are:
- In spite of the hurdles created by Covid 19, 100% placement was achieved.
- The average salary offered was INR 23.60 LPA.
- The top 100 students were offered an average salary of INR 33 LPA.
- The highest domestic salary offered was INR 41.50 LPA.
- The highest international salary offered was INR 56.80 LPA.
- 210 recruiters, which included 40 new ones participated in the placement season this year.
- 69% of the batch was recruited by consulting, finance, sales, and marketing.
This year, the IPM students of IIM Indore have achieved 100% placements.
How do I get admission in IIM Indore?
The first step to get into IIM Indore for your PGP is to clear the CAT exam. As there’s already plenty of information online on how to clear the exam, I’ll be moving forward to the next steps.
Once you get a call from IIM Indore, the next step is GD and PI. The GD round is all about speaking. But do not make the mistake of speaking useless things. Instead, make just 2-3 points that are logical and that take the discussion forward. Else, come up with something creative to support your opinion. For example, my friend got the topic- “Advertising: Noise Attracts Attention”. As soon as the floor was open for discussion, he made a loud thud with his foot. This attracted everyone’s attention towards him. In response, he just said- “Hence proved, noise attracts attention.” He cleared the round because of his out of the box response.
The personal interview is mainly a test of your confidence. Read general knowledge material and prepare at least one subject of your interest in depth. You’ll be asked questions on them. If you do not know a certain answer, be honest about it. You can add humor to the conversions, but do not use inappropriate jokes. You must across as a sensible gentleman.
These are a few tips to ace the GD PI round, which will ultimately lead you towards becoming a student at IIM Indore.
Should I join IIM Indore's one-year MBA course (EPGP) or continue working, given the bad placement scenario for the course? Or should I try for better colleges in India?
The placement opportunities for an Executive MBA at IIM Indore or In fact any other IIM are very limited. They depend on the batch itself and may be good or bad depending on the current batch profile and expectations. Moreover, people don’t pursue EMBA to get placed in a high salary package. They already have a job with a high package. What they are looking for is an enhancement of their managerial skills and the IIM tag.
So I will not recommend you leave your high-paying job and pursue EMBA especially if you are looking for a better CTC. Not even other B Schools will get you a high package right off the bat. But if you are still adamant about pursuing the program you may take a study leave I suggest.
An MBA helps you in the long run and not instantly. You should be willing to take the risk for maximum results.
Which is better MDI or IIFT or IIM Indore?
All three of the institutions, MDI, IIFT, and IIM Indore, are comparable, so admission shouldn't be based solely on the IIM moniker. Both IIFT and MDI have excellent lists of recruiters visiting campuses and smaller batch sizes. The IIFT is the best of the three if one is interested in trading or is fine working in general management roles in emerging economies. MDI is the best of the three for consulting-related jobs and a great campus life. Unfortunately, due to its enormous batch size, IIM Indore is no longer regarded as being in the same league as other old IIMs. At all three institutions, the faculty and teaching methods are comparable.
It would be MDI>IIFT>IIM I if you took into account things like placements, faculty, brand value, campus life, and location.
Should I go for MDI Gurgaon or IIM Indore?
Determine what you want to learn in the two years you will spend at either of these colleges. Both colleges have very different offerings. Choose the one that provides you with more flexibility, a wider range of people to interact with and learn from, and opportunities to pursue your interests. These things will be more important in the long run because, after a few years, people will not judge you based on your alma mater, but vice versa.
Inquire about alumni interaction and entrepreneurship support. Even if you never want to be an entrepreneur, such networks can help you complete tasks that would otherwise take months. It is up to you to select the best college for yourself.
Which college is better, IIM Indore or JBIMS Mumbai?
JBIMS Mumbai is better, especially for Finance specialization. It offers a better ROI compared to IIM Indore. The course fees are around INR 6.05 Lakhs. While the average CTC offered is around INR 27.63 LPA according to JBIMS placements 2022. EY, PwC, Deloitte, Accenture, etc. were some of the major recruiters that took part in the placement drive.
The institute has an excellent alumni base, the networking opportunities are ample.
What was the average package given to the students of first batch of IPM course - IIM Indore?
My friend belonged to the first graduating batch of IPM participants. Currently, he is well placed in a reputed company. Here are a few insights you need to know according to his experience back then.
- Most of his batchmates bagged offers from pioneer recruiters like Credit Suisse, Deloitte, Nomura, JP Morgan, HDFC, IndusInd Bank, IBM, ICRA Management Consulting, Tata Sky, UAE Exchange, etc.
- The batch received good feedback from the recruiters in the first placement season of IPM that was highly encouraging. A leading credit rating agency remarked, “We found the candidates to have a good understanding of concepts and confidence to face the demand of the corporate world.”
- Most of the students were offered a finance role with the average salary package being 11.96 LPA, including International offers such as EA to CFO & MD by a leading international foreign exchange company.
Overall, the placement record for the first batch of IPM was surprisingly great. With an average package of 11 LPA and the highest package of about 30 LPA, IPM of IIM was a huge success.
What is the fee structure for IIM Indore?
As per the updated fee structure for PGP program (batch 2023-2025), the course fee for Indian residents is Rs. 10 Lakhs per year. It is Rs. 15 Lakhs per year for International students.
Other fees include a medical insurance premium of Rs. 679 per year, a mess deposit of Rs. 54,000 in the first year, and a refundable caution deposit of Rs. 50,000 in the first year. The course fee and mess deposit is payable in three installments. An alumni fee of Rs. 11,800 is payable in the second year.

Are coaching classes very necessary to get into ipm course at iim indore or is self-study the best option?
The majority of coaching classes often confuse the real purpose and meaning set behind an IPM programme. Surprisingly enough, they mostly treat it as they do to a regular BBA+MBA programme, without actually recognising the difficulty level essentially associated with it.
- The difficulty level of IPMAT is several steps ahead of a general BBA examination.
- Coaching centres function by preparing aspirants for the upcoming CAT exam or a general management entrance coaching.
- Rather than seeking advice from coaching centres, you can avail a specialized mentorship. Either from the students of the respective institute who have recently cleared the IPMAT exam, or choose visiting professors from the admission committee.
- If you think it is not possible, then seek guidance from the alumni network or the current students.
- Follow the previous year’s papers and understand the pattern of the questions. You can also seek help from the internet.
Paying a bulky fee to coaching centers can oftentimes prove to be unnecessary. Your self-study, mostly combined with a vivid general knowledge, can suffice the needs of the exam.
Which hostel does the IPM girls in IIM Indore stay?
I have a few friends from IIM Indore and I learned about the hostel accommodation, on-campus through them.
As mentioned by my friends, the girls from their first three IPM years are given to stay at a recently established Student Residence 10, also known as SR - 16. It is in front of the cricket stadium.
On the other hand, the girls from both IPM fourth and fifth years stay with the PGPs in the SR 11 - 14. The hostel is adjacent to the SR - 18, i.e. the IPM Boys Hostel.
