How can I get a visit into the IIM Bangalore campus?
If you need to visit IIMB for a tour, it is best if you know a current student there or if you can connect with a faculty member on campus and discuss a common subject.
You should also avoid visiting during festivals because you will most likely be barred from all but the common areas and will be unable to find anyone who can tell you anything about the location.
When visiting any secured perimeter, it is more important to appear sincere, and presentable, and not faff around on your intentions or in general. Be open and honest about your intentions. The only issue is that there are too many people talking about being prospective students, and no one wants to take a security risk.
Is the academic rigour of IIM Calcutta more than IIM Bangalore?
Yes, the academic rigour of IIM Calcutta is more than IIM Bangalore. But to a very little extent. Overall the impact is very little.

IIM Calcutta has the largest batch size. So the academic rigor is higher than other IIMs. Also, it has the fastest academic year. There are no breaks between terms, and midterms are wrapped, in most years, within 3 days with 2–3 exams per day. IIM Calcutta has a Grading scale upto 9 with grades very spaced out within the batch, and competition for superior grades often heats up towards the end of Term 3, with average performance spiking up as everyone wants to score high.
The rest is for you to judge. But keep in mind that the competition vigor at every IIM is the same.
Why did you choose IIM L over FMS Delhi? I heard that FMS is at par with ABC and much better than IIM L.
- Placements: While median/average salary is one way to judge placement quality, considering the roles offered at summer and final placements is a more comprehensive way to get an idea of the quality of placements. In terms of finance and consulting firms visiting the campus for summer and final placements, IIM BAC received more diverse offers. MBB firms have begun to visit IIM L as well.
- International Reputation: IIMs BAC is one of the world's top business schools. Even if IIML is not widely known in the international community, the fact that it is part of the IIM family lends credibility to its name. FMS does not appear in any international rankings.
- Student Exchange: IIMB has over 150 outgoing students and over 90 incoming students. The figures at IIML would be lower, but significantly higher than at FMS.
- Pedagogy: The pedagogy at IIMs is a mix of case studies and class-based theoretical discussions. This provides a more in-depth understanding of various topics.
- Campus Life: Campus life at IIMs is vibrant, whereas it is almost nonexistent at FMS.
- Research: The research output of IIMs at BAC and even L is higher than that of FMS. You could, for example, work with a professor to publish a paper or write a case study as part of your course.
What is good about IIM Bangalore?

I wouldn’t say that as a student of IIM Ahmedabad and also a resident of Ahmedabad, visits from your family members will be a problem. This is because the maximum duration of your day will be spent in classes, studying for exams or assignments. You will not even have the time to be disturbed by your family members. It’s not that big of a factor that might change your decision to go to IIM Calcutta or Bangalore rather than IIM Ahmedabad. Moreover chances are that you might face some health issues and it's to your advantage as an Ahmedabad resident that your family members will tend to you so that you can recover quickly.
What is life like after receiving an MBA from FMS-Delhi as compared to top IIMs?
After receiving an MBA from FMS Delhi, life became quite simple owing to the following reason

Excellent placement, and a variety of offers from different fields made it easier for the students. FMS Delhi maintains a stable placement record over years. Students receive lucrative salary packages every year. This year too was no different. The highest salary stood at INR 58 LPA. Can a person with 98 percentile get a call from IIM Bangalore?
Whether you will get a call or not depends on a lot of factors. For general category students, IIM Bangalore cutoff stays around the 99 percentile. However, for interview shortlisting, IIM Bangalore considers a lot of factors - 10th, 12th, graduation scores, bachelor's field of studies, work experience, etc.
If you have a decent academic record and 2 years of work experience, you can expect a call with 98 percentile.
Can I make it to IIM A B or C if my 10 score is 93, 12 is 82 and grade is 73 and from a tier 3 college?

Now considering your profile, you need the following CAT score to get into IIM A B C
IIM Ahmedabad: If you are a non-engineer you will get a call easily but if you are an engineer you will need work experience and at least 99.5+CAT score
IIM Bangalore: You will need work experience to compensate for poor academic record or at least 100 percentile to get a call
IIM Calcutta: you will need 98.8+ if you are a girl. For boys, it is around 99.6+.
Is it mandatory to reside at the IIM Bangalore hostel if one gets admitted for the PGPM course?
Yes, if you enroll in the PGPM program, you must reside in a hostel for the first year; you can choose to live off campus in the second year, but no one does.
It is truly beneficial that one must live in a hostel; otherwise, it is extremely difficult to complete all of the submissions and work in groups. Group project meetings are usually held at 11 p.m. or later, around midnight, making it difficult to attend if you are not on campus.
Furthermore, because subscriptions for these resources are validated using IP addresses, you will be unable to use them outside of the IIM campus.
However, the amazing part is that the campus is so beautiful that once you start staying there, you will despise the idea of staying anywhere else.
