What is it like to be a pass out from XLRI, Jamshedpur with a degree in HR? Also, is HRM better than BM in XLRI?

GK
Gauri Kapoor Posted On : February 13th, 2023
Studied at Xavier School of Management.

In terms of outlook and objectives, the HRM and BM programs offered by XLRI Jamshedpur differ significantly. The BM program, for example, includes only two courses in Organization Behavior, whereas the HRM program includes three courses in the same subject.

The HRM program is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a successful HR manager in today's fast-paced corporate environment. As a result, if you want to work in human resources, the HRM program is the best option. XLRI Jamshedpur is regarded as the best HR education institute in India, and being a part of the program gives you access to a rich alumni network of over 60 years, many of whom are in HR roles. This is a significant benefit. Similarly, the BM program has advantages, but the program's objectives differ from those of HRM. If you are admitted, you should not consider any other options.

AA

XLRI and IIMs have different strengths and specializations. IIMs are known for management education, while XLRI is noted for its HRM program.

In 2021, NIRF ranked XLRI 4th in India and IIM Ahmedabad 2nd. Academic reputation, research, faculty, facilities, placements, etc. might affect rankings.

Unlike other business schools, XLRI emphasizes ethics and values. Its alumni network encourages students and helps position them. XLRI and IIMs are major Indian management institutes with different strengths and specializations. They have varied admission standards, programs, and reputations, making comparisons impossible. Preferences, professional goals, and fit determine the winner.

Is an MBA from XLRI worth it?

RD
Ritu Dixit Posted On : November 4th, 2022
Business Management from Xavier School of Management

There are various parameters through which it can be measured whether XLRI is worth it or not.

  • Money: You will be able to appreciate it more if you consider network and learning a part of it. About 200 students cannot afford the fee and must take out a loan to pay it to find it well worth it.

  • Time: There is also an opportunity cost involved. It's worthwhile if you believe that peer learning and classroom learning are a good use of time.

  • Effort: The true worth of your efforts becomes clear only after you see the results. Every year in XL, over 500 people recognize that value and trust their experience, and another group of students embarks on the same journey to discover their own.

  • Sacrifice: At various ages, people make various sacrifices in order to pursue their XLRI dream. Some postpone a wedding, some drop out of their campus placement, and some resign from a job they're not sure about. This has less to do with XLRI and more to do with the decision to pursue management.

You can't go wrong with XLRI if you believe a Management course will make a significant positive difference in your life.

Which is better XLRI or IIFT?

XLRI and IIFT are both excellent. What matters is which one you are able to enter. Simply focus on each exam and consider it important, and you will be admitted. When you have a choice, you can make a decision. In terms of the alumni network, corporate connect, international collaboration, placement, PPOs, and offers, both Business Schools rank higher than many IIMs.

Although you can consider XLRI slightly better than IIFT because of the following factors:

How was your interview experience at IIM, FMS, MDI, XLRI, SP JAIN, NMIMS, SIBM, SCMHRD, etc. being from a commerce background ?

VP
Vinay Padmakar Posted On : May 19th, 2023
Studied at IIM Kozhikode

I can tell you about my interview experience for IIM Kozhikode.

I am a working professional with three years of work experience in the Ed-tech field. My 10th is 9.4 CGPA, 12th is 80% , both from CBSE, graduation score is 71.2% and I graduated in BBA in 2018 from a college in Indore .

I gave my interview in the afternoon slot (there were a total of three slots, morning, afternoon, and evening, the morning slot is best).

The interview was in online mode (due to covid). First, they asked me to verify my official ID cards. There were two people taking my interview, one male and one female.

They started by asking about my hobbies, I told them about gyming and cricket, and the male interviewer started asking me about cricket. He asked me who scored the maximum t20 runs in the previous year, what reverse swing is, top five bowlers who could bowl reverse swing. Then they started asking me about the firm in which I worked, the valuation of the firm, its reputation, the work culture, the future of the industry, who the CEO is, and all.

Then the next person started asking me questions from my undergrad, and I wasn't able to answer the question related to that. She seems a little unsatisfied with my answers.

I was waitlisted at the end and could not be able to convert the college.
