If you have the option of dropping a year and preparing for CAT, XAT, or other entrance exams, it may be worth considering. You can use the extra time to study and improve your scores, which could lead to better opportunities in the future.

However, if you have decided to pursue an MBA this year, there are several factors to consider before choosing between IMI and GLIM. You should look at the return on investment (ROI), fees, faculty, location, and placement records of both institutions to determine which one is a better fit for you.

It is important to note that neither the Business Forensic & Fraud Management (BF&S) program at IMI nor the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) program at GLIM are the flagship programs of their respective institutions. You may want to research the other programs offered by each school to see if they align with your career goals.

Personally, I would recommend GLIM over IMI. However, you should make your decision based on your own research and preferences, taking into account factors such as the curriculum, faculty, industry connections, and career prospects. It is important to choose a program that aligns with your career aspirations and provides the best value for your investment in terms of education, skills, and networking opportunities.

Is an MBA (PGPM 1 year course) from Great Lakes Chennai worth 19 lakhs?

GM
Gaurav Mukharjee Posted On : August 7th, 2023
Great Lakes Institute of Management

It is based on your interests. Great Lakes is a comparatively good institute that offers effective academics and the best infrastructure facilities, especially in the IT sector. But if you are interested in concentrating on other fields like HR, Finance, and so on, then opt for NMIMS, SIBM, SCMHRD, XIMB, and the New IIMS.

Most of the leading B schools are charging close to 20 lakhs for this course, so it is worth paying around 19 lakhs at Great Lakes Institute of Management as it has better placement support

The recent Placement Statistics at GLIM are mentioned below:

Highest Package

INR 12 Lakhs per annum

Average Package

INR 6.55 Lakhs per annum

I have been selected at Great Lakes, TAPMI, IRMA and IIT -BHU, KJ Somaiya (MBA - HCM). Which one should I take? I am totally confused.

First of all, congratulations on your acceptances to these colleges. Great Lakes would be the best option for you if you’re interested in a one-year MBA program, especially in the IT domain, given the current COVID situation. If you’re interested in rural management instead, IIRMA is considered the best program for that specialization.

I would advise against choosing IIT-BHU and recommend KJ Somaiya only if you’re specifically interested in pursuing an MBA in HCM. TAPMI would be the best choice for someone looking for a general MBA program without a specific interest in any of the specialized areas mentioned above.

Which one is better, IIM Jammu or Great Lakes Chennai?

S
Sagardeep Posted On : January 11th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India (2000–present)

Some students pursue an MBA/PGPM to learn about various aspects of business and management; others pursue it to network, and still, others pursue it to gain expertise in a specific field. However, everyone does it in order to succeed for the whole of their long career and advance their professional prospects. Management positions, consultants, human resources professionals, and entrepreneurs are all possible career paths.

Having said that, an MBA/PGDM program should be objectively evaluated as well as subjectively positioned. The structure, outcomes, exposure, and career services of the program should be updated on a regular basis.

  • Looking at Great Lakes Chennai, both its PGPM (with 2+ years of work experience) and PGDM (with 0-2 years of work experience) programs are designed to incorporate global recurring changes into themselves, to transform management graduates into future-ready executives, and to instill in graduates a sense of compassion and social responsibility, both of which are essential for managers of tomorrow.

Great Lakes' application-oriented teaching-learning pedagogy and holistic learning environment enable it to provide its graduates with excellent career opportunities.

For PGDM, the average CTC offered to the Class of 2022 increased by 13% to INR 12.5 LPA, with a multinational consulting firm offering the highest domestic CTC of INR 25.8 LPA. Bain, McKinsey, JP Morgan Chase, Adobe, Nestlé, EY India, HP, ITC, PayU, Accenture, Cognizant, ICRA, Crisil, TAS, Société Générale, Deloitte, Swiggy, Standard Chartered, and Wells Fargo are some notable recruiters. The Class of 2022 (PGPM) had an excellent season, with the batch's average CTC increasing by 31% from 13.6 lakhs p.a. to 17.86 lakhs p.a. A major multinational software products corporation offered the batch the highest domestic CTC of 35 lakhs per year. Major recruiters such as Microsoft, Accenture, ADP, Bain, Bristlecone, Deloitte, Cognizant, EY GDS, FedEx, HCL, Infosys, Incedo, Optum, Tiger Analytics, Zoom, and ZS Associates participated in the season.

  • When it comes to IIM Jammu, despite being a relatively new institute, it has come a long way, with significantly improved and fairly decent placements available to its graduates.

While the IIM brand is one of the most obvious advantages of IIM Jammu, leveraging the IIM brand would take years. People should not join the institute solely for the IIM brand. During the 2022 placement drive, 119 companies participated and 217 students applied for placements, resulting in a high number of placements.

The entire procedure was carried out virtually. The average CTC increased by 13% to INR 13.53 LPA, with the highest CTC at INR 32 LPA. The institute also released its summer internship placement report for the class of 2022, in which 100% of students were offered internships and the highest stipend was INR 3 Lakhs, while the average stipend was INR 44.8K. Accenture, Amazon, Aditya Birla Group, BYJU's, Deloitte, CollegeDunia, HDFC Bank, Infosys, ICICI Bank, Optum, and PwC were among the recruiters who took part in the 2022 placement drive.

The first choice between the two is GLIM, Chennai, which offers a fantastic and promising career.

A PGPM course at Great Lakes might be a better option, which has a lot of advantages. If you are dedicated and determined, then your academic journey will be easier. Let us have a detailed look at the course structure and the institute.

Academics – You have to attend 6 to 7 hours of class followed by 2 hours of pre-reads and assignments every day, which is a bit hectic. You can also take part in healthy class discussions, which are highly beneficial. This institute has a well-designed course structure that covers a wide range of topics

Faculty – Great Lakes is gifted with excellent faculty support and they encourage interactive classes

Other Activities – Apart from academics, Great Lakes also conducts various cultural and sports events every year.

Placement – Various companies with decent salary packages visit the institute every year. Currently, the average package is around 10 lakhs per annum. The students from an IT background are given ample opportunities here, and they are satisfied with the salary packages.

So, choose the option Great Lakes Institute of Management for better studies

When you follow your interests and passions, the result will be magical. This is the apt answer to your question. The primary importance should be given to your career and interests, not the institution. Of course, institutes play a major role in giving foundational support to excel in your career, but never waste more time in the selection process of the institution. Follow your mind, and if you are not sure about SP Jain, then opt for Great Lakes, as they ensure great academic support and the best infrastructure facilities.

It is comparatively difficult to secure a seat at the Great Lakes Institute of Management. They usually give preference to candidates among the top 500 ranks in the CMAT. So, it is better to strive hard and come up with a good score or try another entrance examination like GMAT, CAT or SAT
