I always advise my juniors to choose their branch of study only on the basis of their interest and not what the crowd is following. Today CS and EE might be major crowd-pullers but that does not mean it's the right branch for everyone. I assume you are choosing Chemical Engineering because of your interest in it.

Jadavpur University and IIEST Shibpur are both considered as one of the best institutes in India to pursue Engineering. Both fall under the top 50 institutes for engineering according to the NIRF ranking. Jadavpur University is considered to be a tier A university whereas Shibpur University is not that popular.
Discipline:
First of all, it is important for students to research the difference between mechanical and chemical engineering before choosing it for their career.
Ranking:
IIEST Shibpur and Jadavpur University are both excellent colleges for education.

Placements:
The choice of University and course completely depends on the student’s interest and their JEE ranking. Both these subjects are relatively difficult to get but if the student is determined and smart at studying, nothing is unachievable.
As an alumnus of B.Tech Chemical at NIT Durgapur, I will throw some light on the faculty and placements of our course.
The faculty of Chemical Engineering is good. Some professors help students find internships in industries and research institutes. They are- Dr. Tamal Mandal,
Dr. P P Gupta, Dr. S. Dutta, Dr. JP Sarkar, and Dr. S Haldar.
Some professors aren’t very strict on attendance. They are- Dr. Jaya Sikder, Dr. Swapan Paruya, Dr. M K Mandal, Dr. Bimal Das and Dr. Gopinath Haldar.
My favorite professor is Dr. P Pal. He has a deep knowledge of his field and great teaching skills.
Now, coming over to placements. The students are placed both on campus and off campus. As per the official data, 83.33% of students from B.Tech Chemical were placed at an average salary of INR 8.87 LPA during the 2023 placement season. The placements are good overall.
NIT Durgapur is a decent college for Chemical Engineering. You will have a good time here.
Both Metallurgical Engineering and Chemical Engineering at VSSUT are relatively new. Here are a few points of difference based on some common aspects
In all, both branches offer decent opportunities with chemistry offering slightly better opportunities as compared to metallurgy. This is because it's open to a wider range of companies and this branch has great scope abroad.
The situation of B.Tech Chemical at MANIT Bhopal is much better on paper than in real life.
The curriculum looks brilliant on paper, but the department faculty is relatively inexperienced to stick to it in a proper manner. The placement scenario is average, yet better than the situation of some other core branches at MANIT.
In case you want to choose Chemical only to switch to some other branch later on, make sure to maintain good grades in your first year. However, at the same time, research on the opportunities in Chemical Engineering. You might not get a branch switch. Under such circumstances, you’ll have to stick to Chemical for the remaining part of your B.Tech degree.
This field has a lot of opportunities in the government sector, private sector, IT sector and research. Chemical Engineers are considered as mainstream engineers in process and manufacturing plants. So make sure to research well before choosing Chemical Engineering.
You won’t regret joining Chemical at MANIT. At the end, everything will depend upon how much effort you are willing to put in.
The B.Tech Chemical program at VNIT offers a good faculty and decent placements.
The Chemical department performs really well in competitive exams like GATE, GRE etc. As for placements, both core and non core companies bring job offers. The list of recruiters includes core companies like Reliance, Exxon mobil and L&T limited, and non-core companies like fidelity, GEP, Quantiphi and ZS associates. All the visiting companies are highly reputed.
Apart from the names already mentioned, Godrej Chemicals, Pidilite, Jubilant, Reliance Petrochemicals, Reliance Industries, etc. also visit the campus during placement season.
However, the Chemical Department suffers from a few drawbacks. These are the non-working labs, lack of transparency in case of feedback, and too much authority.
In Spite of these shortcomings, the Chemical department of VNIT Nagpur is good. You’ll be offered decent facilities and placement during your B.Tech Chemical from this college.
Being a student of Anna University, you should first consult your Chemistry teacher for the study materials. You can also ask your seniors to recommend some books for the same. There is a chance that they might inform you of a PDF that will help you get good marks.
Apart from this, some websites that provide PDFs are
Library Genesis
PDF Drive - Search and download PDF files for free.
Both these websites will help you gain access to the required PDFs. Another simple option is to simply browse google and look for the pdf of the book.
Some of the JEE books that cover similar topics taught in Chemical Engineering UG are:
I appreciate your decision to link your UG course with the basics studied in JEE. This way you will be understanding the concepts taught in class and not mug them up.
