In terms of placement, NITIE is the best followed by SIBM Pune, and finally IIM Rohtak. In terms of brand value, IIM Rohtak comes first, followed by NITIE and then SIBM.
Depending on whether you want the IIM tag, you should attend NITIE, SIBM Pune, or IIM Rohtak for Operations. NITIE has a firm grasp on operations and is well-known for it. Furthermore, the Mumbai location is advantageous. If you want to pursue a career in marketing, SIBM Pune should be your first choice.

How was your interview at IIM Rohtak? What kind of questions did they ask?
My sister was an electrical and electronics engineer with two years of work experience. To prepare for the interview she practiced her introduction and some common and structured questions.
- Once she entered the interview room, she was asked to introduce herself and she was made comfortable. Soon after the panelists started asking her technical questions about engineering. Most of the questions were based on fundamental theories meant for practical use. She was able to answer most of them.
- Next, she was asked to solve a mathematical problem in 30 seconds. Owing to the slow speed she chose to explain the procedure to solve the problem rather than solving it.
- Later on, they inquired about her work experience and her role. She told them confidently about the projects she had worked on and her own insights.
- Toward the end, the conversation steered toward the Indian Economy. She had little knowledge about the things they discussed like RBI, imports-exports, etc.
This was a turning point in the interview and ended up ruining her entire performance.
Should I prepare from RS Aggarwal's Quantitative Aptitude book for IPM at IIM Indore/Rohtak?
Preparing from RS Agarwal will not be of much use. Because the questions in IPM or BMS exams are of a slightly higher level and involve more than just conceptual usage, but also a little bit of trickery. These are usually practical questions rather than theoretical ones.
These types of questions are not found in the books of RS Agarwal or RD Sharma. Rather, they can be found in books designed specifically for IPM or CAT preparation. You do not need to go for RS Aggarwal or RD Sharma, but rather for books that are specifically designed for the IPM or CAT entrance exams.
How is the ePGPx program of IIM Rohtak? Is it better to go for EFPM than ePGPx from IIM Rohtak?
The ePGPx program is a 1-year diploma program from IIM Rohtak, not to be confused with MBA or other executive programs. It is an intense course where you need to have at least 100 contact hours (20 days) on the campus and the remaining is online.
The course curriculum is quite rigorous and does not make you feel like it's an executive one as the modules and professors are the same with a blended approach of both offline and online classes.
One of my friends is about to complete this course at IIM Rohtak and here’s what he has to say:
- You will be amidst the challenging campus modules that give you the feel of IIMs and real-world management culture.
- You will get eminent professors that are hands-on and drive the curiosity of thought.
- You can enjoy the huge and lush new campus (largely being constructed) with good hostels if you get a chance to stay.
- ePGPx emphasizes first-hand learning of general management concepts making it absolutely helpful for you to enter and survive in the corporate world.
- The current fee structure and flexibility of classes from anywhere in contrast to other IIMs make it a great choice for many people who live far away.
- Unfortunately, if campus placements are your priority, the course doesn’t provide it yet.
All in all, ePGPx at IIM Rohtak is quite a comprehensive learning experience. Since it’s the only IIM in the NCR region growing at a fast pace, it’s a good idea to be a part of the campus. However, the major downside lies with the fact that they don’t provide placement for this course, hence, choose wisely.
What do you think about IIM Rohtak for an MBA?
IIM Rohtak is one of the most prestigious business schools in India and the oldest amongst the newer IIMs. It has recently been completed for ten years. Many of my colleagues have done their PG from IIM Rohtak. Based on the brief interaction I had with them here are some interesting details about the campus:
- IIM Rohtak has an advantage of location proximity to NCR and because of this, the institution has a robust corporate connection as Rohtak is only an hour away from New Delhi. This gives IIM Rohtak an upper hand over other new IIMs
- The factor which differentiates IIM Rohtak from other IIMs is that their placement reports are CRISILaudited which only a few IIMs do.
- IIM Rohtak is also one of the few B-schools in India that is CFA-affiliated.
- Its course curriculum is aligned with the CFA curriculum. This is a plus point for all those who want to or are pursuing CFA along with their MBA or are planning to do it after their MBA.
- IIM Rohtak has a diversified culture with a unique mix of students from all backgrounds with the right mix of engineers and non-engineers.
- Every year a cultural fest is organized named Infusion,a three-day event held in January.
- The IIM Rohtak campus is among the best of the new generation IIMs, with lush green surroundings and a very calm and positive atmosphere.
