IIT Delhi for Material Science Engineering has a more relaxed curriculum and great campus life, but the placement rates are around 60%, which is decent. VerboseVultureVanguard Posted On : March 29th, 2026

At IIT Delhi, pursuing a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering Power and Automation will cost you roughly 1 lakh per year as tuition. For SC/ST candidates, it's way less, around 5-6k. When you factor in the hostel and mess fees, you're looking at about 47,500 in total. Yes, it sounds like a lot, but trust me, the placement opportunities are insane, with average packages around 15-25 lakhs!

Is it worth doing a MBA from IIT Delhi or not? What are its placement records and whats your experience with this college so far?

C
ChromaticMimesis Posted On : March 29th, 2026

It's as good as any IIM or other Ivy League college in its category!

  • Research-focused teaching methodology helps students gain practical knowledge alongside theoretical concepts.
  • An impressive list of faculty members who have been teaching management and consulting for over 15 years.
  • Small batch sizes foster strong bonds among students and make it easier to choose fields like marketing or finance, offering plenty of options during placements.
  • The infrastructure is amazing! The IIT Delhi campus is fantastic, located right in the heart of Delhi. Any sport you can think of is available.
  • ROI is probably the biggest reason to consider this program. While IIMs charge in excess of 18 lakhs for an MBA, IIT Delhi's MBA costs only 5 lakhs, including food and lodging.
  • Being located in Delhi attracts the best brands for placements.

Hope that answers your question! All the best!

Without any nonsense, here's the deal. No matter what you choose, you’ll end up with two main options after your B.Tech:

  • If you stay in India, you’ll likely pursue an MBA, UPSC, or a career in IT.
  • If you go abroad for research or an MS, keep in mind that you’ll need some experience in Computer Science for both research and corporate jobs.

The good news is that by opting for Electrical Engineering at IIT Delhi, you can easily transition into Computer Science after your B.Tech and prepare for an MS abroad. Electrical Engineering at IIT is quite flexible and offers a wide range of courses that touch on various aspects of modern engineering, including Electronics, Computer Science, and Modern Physics. These courses will definitely help you refine your career choices later on.

StardustKindly Posted On : March 28th, 2026

Currently, if you gain admission to IIT Delhi through the general category, you will need to pay around 2 lakhs, excluding mess and hostel charges.

Hostel and mess fees are approximately 70–80 thousand per year.

Calculating the total:

  • 2 lakhs 4 years = 8 lakhs
  • 0.70 lakhs 4 years = 2.8 lakhs
  • Total = 10.8 lakhs

If your parent's income is below 6 lakhs, you may be eligible for MCM (Merit-cum-Means) scholarship. To qualify, you must maintain a good CGPA, have no backlogs, and participate in extracurricular activities. Additionally, you shouldn't have any disciplinary actions against you in college.

For SC/ST/Physically Handicapped students, the entire academic fee is waived. Various other scholarships are also available based on academic performance.
