Is NIT Delhi going to become as good as DTU and NSIT (or even better) in the future in terms of placements, faculty, and campus life?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : July 6th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

NIT Delhi was established in 2010 and is still struggling to make its mark in the education world. As for your question, if NIT Delhi will reach the level of DTU and NSIT soon, I feel that it certainly will. The following points support my stance further

  • Every year, NIT Delhi has at least one student who gets ranked under 100 in GATE
  • A student of NIT Delhi has gone for GSOC more than one time and is now a CERN(European Organisation for Nuclear Research)Geneva.
  • NIT DELHI has highly qualified teachers and one of them worked in NASA, ISRO, and Japanese space organizations and then finally became a professor at NIT Delhi.
  • NIT Delhi's first convocation ceremony’s Guest of Honor was Shri Pranab Mukherjee.
  • The students here actively participate in research work and the Director itself has published 300 research papers in International/National journals.
  • One of NIT Delhi's alumni has the honor of joining IIM Indore.
  • NIT Delhi placement 2021 recorded an 88% placement percentage and top companies like Adobe, Amadeus, Avalara, and Code Nation visited the campus.
  • NIT Delhi has the second fastest internet in India.

NIT Delhi may be lacking in terms of campus and alumni but it’s nothing that cannot be improved in the years to come!

Who are some really good professors at IIT Jodhpur?

SR
Sayantan Ray Posted On : July 27th, 2023
B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IITJ) (Graduated 2021)

Honestly, IIT Jodhpur has very few gem professors. My sister who studies there mentioned 2 of her favorite professors and why she considered them a gem

Shanmuganathan Raman: He deserves all the love and respect he gets from his students because of the kind of teacher he is.

  • His knowledge of his subject is excellent, sometimes leaving you speechless.
  • He has a great rapport with the students and you will be surprised to know that he remembers every student's name.
  • His South Indian accent is very charming and humorous.
  • His classes are intriguing and you won’t be bored even for a minute.
  • His explanations of the concepts are what makes most students his fan.

Kiran Kumar Hiremath: As a whole, he is somewhat like Raman sir only.

  • He has a very charming smile and he has a sweet nature.
  • He is proficient in his subject and delivers the concepts excellently.
  • He maintains a friendly bond with students often lightening the classroom tension with his jokes
  • He is a person filled with enthusiasm and gives off positive vibes during the lectures that motivate the students.
  • He adopts a decent grading system.

Additionally, she also mentioned Vivek Vijay sir who is a mentor to many students.

Is the computer science branch in MNIT Jaipur good (in terms of academic facilities, faculty, placements etc.)?

KS
Kalyani Shrivastava Posted On : October 9th, 2023
MNIT Jaipur

The CSE branch of MNIT Jaipur is one of the best branches of the institute in comparison to all other NITs. The branch has a dedicated pool of faculty that adopt modern pedagogy to deliver CS concepts. The branch has state-of-the-art lab facilities that assist in cutting-edge research.

MNIT Jaipur CSE placements have recorded decent stats over the past few years. Although no official data has been released on the same, a few acquaintances at MNIT Jaipur shared the statistics with me.

  • Almost 98 students got placed
  • The highest salary package offered by Apple was INR 64 LPA.
  • The lowest salary package offered was INR 6.75 LPA.
  • Top recruiting companies were Apple, Amazon, Flipkart, Adobe, Deloitte, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, etc

Lastly, the NIT tag plays a big role in improving your future prospects and improving your job opportunities. The campus has a diverse crowd and the overall ambiance is quite lively. However, MNI TJaipur lacks in terms of coding culture. So, if you want to participate in competitive programming, you will need a lot of self-motivation.

Ultimately, choosing the college is important but not more than the branch. That being said, the CSE at MNIT Jaipur is better than any core branch at the top NITs. So, if you are willing to work right after graduation, go for it!

DS
Devesh Saraf Posted On : August 19th, 2023
Studied at NIT Calicut

According to my brother, these are the best teachers at the Department of CSE, NIT Calicut-

  1. Dr. Vineeth Paleri- Dr. Paleri is the best teacher at CSED, NIT Calicut, according to popular opinion. His professionalism, vision, ideas, and clarity of thought are unmatched. Sir’s attention to detail and perfection leave you motivated and charged. You will learn a lot if you get to do your project under his guidance. He taught my brother the Principles of Programming Languages and Compiler Design. His personality inspires my brother to work hard and excel in life.
  2. Dr. Muralikrishnan K - Sir is a highly passionate teacher and it is not easy to score grades in his subject. He doesn’t care much about attendance, but it is a huge loss for you if you plan on missing his classes. He taught my brother Computational Complexity and later on, Combinatorial Algorithms. He teaches theoretical concepts in the most interesting manner providing his students with a different perspective. Computational Complexity is the most difficult course in CSE but sir turned it into quite an interesting one.
  3. Dr. Vinod Pathari- Sir taught my brother Computer Security. He researches his course well in the beginning and keeps on improving upon his teaching methods through student feedback. His class delivery is unparalleled. In Computer Security, sir makes you do projects that turn out quite well in the end.

All these professors have immense trust in the integrity and potential of their students. All of them have a great connection with their students which enables them to deliver their lectures in the most perfect manner. Thus, these are the teachers at CSED, NIT Calicut who inspired my brother to work harder for his goals.

Here are some details about the CSE department of NIT Durgapur-

  • Placements- NIT Durgapur has a good placement record, especially for its CSE department. Any decent student can get a job during placements. The average CTC offered for CSE was 21.45 LPA while the placement percentage stood at 85.71%.
  • Infrastructure- NIT Durgapur has a decent infrastructure, not at par with top NITs and IITs. However, developments are constantly taking place on campus.
  • Internship facility- There aren’t many on-campus internship offers for the students of NIT Durgapur. But you may get a chance at brands like Microsoft, DE Shaw, etc. Off-campus, the NIT tag will surely help you secure a good internship. Startups seek IIT and NIT students for internships/jobs.
