Yes, you can prepare for GATE while doing an M.Tech from IET Lucknow. You will have to self study and make a schedule that works for you. There are GATE coaching centers near IET. If you opt for hostel accommodation, you can easily manage your coursework and preparation for GATE.
How is the M.Tech course in Mizoram University? Is there a placement in an MZU M.Tech?
M.Tech in the Mizoram university is very new and will take a bit to settle, so the placement is not quite good.
The students collaborate with NIT Mizoram students to send the companies so that the process of placement could be completed. But the package they offer is not at all satisfying for the students.
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has started M.Tech. and Ph.D. Programme from academic session 2017-18. Along with this 2 more M.Tech. programmes in Computer Science and Engineering, Power and Energy Systems Engineering; Ph.D. programme in Electrical Engineering started their academic sessions from the year 2018-19.
The placements will take time to improve but currently it is average, so if you prefer self learning and training only then opt for MZU, otherwise go for more experienced colleges.
Which M.Tech program at ISI Kolkata is better, CS, QROR or Cryptology?
After doing some research online, I would say that all the courses at ISI Kolkata are amazing if you know which field you have to choose. Everything depends on your choice of the field as every field is distinct from one another.
Now, I would mention that for M.Tech CS & QROR, these are already well-established Programs and need no introduction.
QROR:
- It’s a course based on subjects in applied statistics and business analytics.
- If you want to be in Business Analytics, it’s better than CS & Crypto.
CS:
- It has theoretical CS as well as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Courses.
- This will give you ample opportunity to do a Ph.D. as well as jobs in Data science positions.
- If you like coding and discrete mathematics etc then this is a zone to play in.
Crypto:
- ISI has India’s best Crypto people.
- And this is the first year of M.Tech Crypto so there is not much data available.
- But if you are not good in Abstract algebra Number theory then say not to this course.
- Research opportunities after M.Tech Crypto will definitely be better than that of QROR or CS.

Does IIT Bhubaneswar provide hostel to M-Tech Students?
Yes, hostels are provided to M.TECH students at IIT Bhubaneswar, Earlier, both these hostels were outside the main campus of IIT Bhubaneswar because the campus was still being constructed. From 2019 July onwards IIT Bhubaneswar gives accommodations to MTech students in the permanent campus in Argul. Two new hostels came up last year with the names Brahmaputra Hall of Residence and Ganga Hall of Residence. The Brahmaputra Hall of residence accommodates all the boys from MTech, MSc, and Ph.D. branches to go along with the BTech first-year boys and the Ganga Hall of Residence accommodates all the girls. Each MTech student has his/her separate rooms inside the hostel and the hostel is equipped with all the facilities ranging from washing machines for laundry to the gymnasium.
