At IIT Delhi, the total fees for pursuing B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering is roughly 20 lakhs. This amount is just for tuition, so remember to budget for hostel and mess fees separately. The curriculum is designed to equip us for real-world challenges, and the opportunities for internships are fantastic, which makes it a great choice!

How do the placements really compare between IIT Delhi B.Tech Computer Science Engineering and IIT Kharagpur B.Tech Electrical Engineering?

S
StoneZephyr Posted On : March 31st, 2026

IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering offers a robust curriculum focused on AI/ML, which is highly relevant today, while IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech in Electrical Engineering has a strong reputation as well. Campus life at IIT Delhi seems vibrant with plenty of extracurricular activities, and the faculty is highly experienced and supportive, which is essential for mentorship. However, IIT Kharagpur also has a good faculty and social environment, though it may not have the same level of industry connections as IIT Delhi.

Given the strong internship opportunities and the tech-driven focus at IIT Delhi, I would personally lean towards IIT Delhi for those looking to dive into the tech field, while IIT Kharagpur would be great for those interested in a broader engineering foundation.

Which one should I opt for IIT Delhi B.Tech Civil Engineering or IIT Guwahati B.Tech Mathematics and Computing

D
DancingDarkChocolateCake Posted On : March 30th, 2026

IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Civil Engineering is a great choice if you want a strong ROI, especially with a fee structure of around 4-5 lakh for those eligible for fee waivers, compared to IIT Guwahati's B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing, which likely has similar fees but may not offer the same level of placement opportunities. IIT Delhi boasts top-tier companies like Google and Amazon, making it an attractive option for placements, while internships are also plentiful. If you're looking for a solid financial choice with excellent placement prospects, go for IIT Delhi. However, if you have a strong interest in mathematics and computing, IIT Guwahati could be a fit, but the financial benefits may not be as pronounced.

Should I go for B.Tech Textile Technology in IIT Delhi or B.Tech Instrumentation Engineering in IIT Kharagpur?

W
WhisperedWordsmith Posted On : March 30th, 2026

IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Textile Technology and IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering both have their merits, but when it comes to fees and ROI, IIT Kharagpur might be the smarter financial choice. While IIT Delhi has a higher fee structure (around 13-14 lakhs) and offers excellent placements with high packages, IIT Kharagpur typically has a better balance of cost to placement outcomes, especially with strong average packages that are competitive. If you're focused on starting a career immediately after graduation, IIT Kharagpur may provide better value for money.

However, if you’re inclined toward a specialized field like textiles and can leverage the strong placement network of IIT Delhi, it could also be worthwhile. In short, go for IIT Kharagpur if you want a broader engineering scope and potentially higher ROI; choose IIT Delhi if you're passionate about textiles and are okay with the cost.

What is the total cost for MBA in IIT Delhi??

F
ForgottenPolaris Posted On : March 30th, 2026

1. A CAT score of 97+ is typically required for IIT Delhi or IIT Bombay.

2. Having 2-3 years of work experience can give you extra points during the admission process. However, keep in mind that more experience in IT may reduce your chances in fields like Finance or Marketing. Companies often prefer candidates with less than 3 years of experience.

3. The fee structure is lower compared to IIMs. You can find the latest fee details on their website, but it shouldn't exceed 10 lakhs.

4. Placement opportunities are strong at both IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay, often surpassing those of some newer IIMs.

5. One downside is that you won't have the 'IIM' tag.

All the best! If you find this answer helpful, please upvote. Thanks!

Which one should I opt for IIT Delhi B.Tech Electrical Engineering or IIT Kharagpur B.Tech Mining Engineering + M.Tech Safety Engineering

T
TerraEcho Posted On : March 30th, 2026

Absolutely, it’s IIT, my friend!

But let’s not get carried away…

Here’s the thing: every branch has its own scope (just to illustrate, even the most obscure fields have their opportunities). What truly matters is being in a good college and achieving good grades.

  • IIT Delhi is a prestigious institution, and the name itself carries weight.
  • The grades? That’s all about your hard work and dedication.

Hope this helps!

Good luck!

Should I go for B.Tech Electrical Engineering Power and Automation in IIT Delhi or B.Tech Electrical Engineering in IIT Kanpur?

V
VelvetVelvet Posted On : March 30th, 2026

IIT Delhi's Electrical Engineering (Power and Automation) and Electrical Engineering (core) are quite similar, with only a difference of 3–4 courses. There are department elective courses that must be completed as part of the degree requirements, allowing students in the Power and Automation program to take core Electrical Engineering courses. Therefore, students in the Power and Automation track can become equivalent to those in the core Electrical Engineering program. Ultimately, there is no significant difference between IIT Delhi's Electrical core and Power Automation. IIT Delhi's Electrical Engineering is also ranked above IIT Kanpur's Electrical Engineering.

I got selection for BE/B.Tech in IIT Delhi but the fees is fairly high. I will have to take an education loan for it. Is it worth the entire effort and money??

S
SerpentineLace Posted On : March 30th, 2026

No. IITs themselves are not worth it. Not even worth half the effort students put in to secure a seat. There are countless issues deeply embedded within the system.

Here’s a bitter truth: aspirants often don’t realize it, but they don’t prepare to study in IITs. They prepare to study with IITians. The fame of IITs comes primarily from their students. They attract the best minds in the country through a rigorous entrance exam. Students learn more from their peers than from professors. When surrounded by such talent on an IIT campus, it’s impossible not to elevate your own skill set.

Outside IITs, top students focus on achieving the best grades and winning medals. Inside IITs, students strive to avoid the worst grades. There’s always a healthy competition. You’re bound to encounter people who are smarter than you.

That kind of peer group and the resulting environment is unique to IITs, and most IITians will agree that it is absolutely worth it!
