No, NIT Hamirpur is not a very cold place. Its surrounding area of snow-clad mighty Dhauladhars might give the impression that it's extremely cold here but in reality, there isn't any snowfall. This is because the campus is situated approximately 4km from the main town and is at a higher elevation.

The climate here is very pleasant and the vegetation is also impressive. Even during the hottest days, the temperature does not go beyond 27°C). During winters, the temperature ranges between 16-18°C, and it is mostly sunny outside.
