Which is better for CSE Tezpur University or SLIET Sangrur?
I have friends from both Tezpur University and SLIET Sangrur. Based on the conversations I had with them, I will say for CSE TU is far better.
- The CSE department of Tezpur University has a great faculty base. It is definitely better than SLIET.
- The university focuses on practical approaches rather than theoretical knowledge. Apart from this, it provides an amazing opportunity for students to work with the Government of India-funded projects.
- The placements at TU are any day better than SLIET. According to the recent placement highlights the average CTC offered was between 3.5 LPA-10 LPA.
So, TU is better than SLIET in all respects. It is in fact the best option to do CSE after IIT-G.
How are the placements for CSD in IIIT Delhi?
Placements in IIIT Delhi are dependent on individual profiles and skills. The college can just invite good IT companies but the package they will offer depends on you alone. IIIT Delhi has many big shots coming for placements including Qualcomm, Microsoft, Amazon, Google, MathWorks, Dell, Synopsys, Adobe, IBM, Accenture, Complex Systems Laboratory, etc. Some of these companies may not allow CSE students to sit for placements but that is rare. As long as you fulfill a certain GPA criteria and clear the test you will be interviewed.
In order to clear the coding tests, one must be proficient in computer programming and have enough knowledge of DBMS, OS, and AMD development be it Android ios web. To add value to your profile, you must do internships, projects, research, and good grades.

Is CSE at IIIT Delhi really a core CS course or an IT based course?
I am a first-year CSE student at IIIT Delhi. All the related subjects in CSE have more theory than required by an average Computer Engineer.
Here are some details on each subject you’ll learn during the 1st and 2nd semesters of this course:
1st semester-
- System Management: You’ll learn the theory part through video lectures. You’ll learn a lot about concepts like the Anatomy of a recording disk, the difference between file systems, etc. The practical work will include disassembling an electronic device, video presentations, hardware projects, general shell scripting, etc.
- Intro to Programming: It is a usual programming language course. You’ll learn a lot of theory in it.
- Digital Circuits: You’ll study theory about the smallest of operations possible in a processor and basic computer architecture.
- Linear Algebra: It is a math course, but a prerequisite for courses like Image Processing. It includes a lot of theory.
2nd semester-
- Computer Organization: You’ll learn Computer Architecture in this. The subject is more theoretical and less practical. You won’t have regular labs. But the prescribed book for this subject is pretty good.
- Data Structures and Algorithms: It is the best subject according to me. You’ll learn concepts, pseudo concepts, time and space complexities in lectures, and actual codes in lab sessions.
By describing each subject during the first year of CSE, I tried to resolve your query to some extent. The curriculum will move forward in a similar manner for the remaining years.
Which college should I choose: Jadavpur University CSE or NIT Trichy CSE in terms of placements?
Both institutions offer great research and placement opportunities in the CSE branch. NIT Trichy gets you an INI Tag and the hostel-life over there is great. On the other hand, the fees at Jadavpur University are incredibly low. Also, Jadavpur University allows you to experience University culture.
I personally know alumni from JU and NIT Trichy CSE and all of them are doing well in their careers. I would suggest you talk to the recently graduated alumni from both institutions to get a closer look at the present-day ground reality.
According to me, whether you choose CSE at NIT Trichy or Jadavpur University, you will not regret your choice. Also, consider other grounds like location before arriving at the final decision.
How is the IT branch at IIEST Shibpur? How are the faculty and placements related to IT branch? Is it comparable to CSE here?
IT at IIEST Shibpur can be good but you need to utilize the opportunities you get properly. The infrastructure at the institute is good. Microsoft also recruits students from campus placements. In the past students have bagged good internship opportunities. One of the students was accepted for Google California (Internship). Compared to the CSE, the IT branch is a little behind in terms of salary packages offered. However, this branch has good diversity.
Faculties for CSE and IT branches are comparable and the IT department even has better faculty members for a few of the subjects. The main difference between CSE and IT is that IT is a sandwich branch of CST and Electronics. So, naturally, you will need to study some Electronics subjects too. For Communication Systems, the IT branch does not have decent faculties. Adding to that, the subject is also not that useful for the future. Despite that this subject eats a chunk of the time of IT students.
Another difference is CST introduces important subjects like algorithms in the 2nd year itself. Whereas, IT introduces these topics one year later.
Basically, the essence is the same for the two branches, there are some minor differences in curriculum and lab work. How you do in placements depends on your hard work.
What is the expected cutoff for CSE in IIT Gandhinagar?
This question varies on a lot of factors as students generally have the tendency to opt for the branches and the institute based on opening and closing ranks of the previous years.

IIIT Vadodara has been established with an aim to develop new knowledge technology and provide manpower to the global standards for the IT industry. Practically the institute lacks facilities that are required to meet this objective.
Problems with IIIT Vadodara:
- The institute is far from the minimum standards that an institute of national importance should have.
- DAICT is decent institute but has not mentored IIIT Vadodara properly.

- The institute’s faculty is young and struggling to match the standard quality of teaching. More new faculties with rich experience are required.

IIIT Kota:
- The institute has excellent hostel facilities with internet, mess, and canteen.
- Library is well-equipped with all books and digital library.
- The institute has decent sports facility, medical and IT facility.
- The institute is government-run, so there are various opportunities for scholarship.
- The placements are also decent. The highest package offered was 30 LPA while the lowest package was 3.5 LPA. The top recruiters were TCS, Amazon, and MAQ Software.
