However, this is simply a popular trend, and you don't have to follow it. It is best to make a decision based on your individual preferences.
Doing something that interests you is considerably superior in the long run to doing something you dislike solely for money since, after a few years, money no longer motivates you.
Here are some information to make your decision easier:-
Both BITS Pilani and IT Guwahati are reputable institutions with strong engineering programs. It’s highly recommended that you go through the contents of the curriculum once before opting for any major. Most students skip this and regret it later as they are forced to study courses they least expected. Go through the books of these courses and determine if the matter intrigues you or not.
IIT Guwahati Engineering Physics program covers a wide spectrum of fields. Although the placement scenario is average, it definitely quenches your thirst for knowledge of Physics and also prepares you for higher studies.
Another good option for core physics is MSc at Kanpur or Kharagpur. Although EP will expose you to multiple options, you will require another degree. It’s better to analyze your interests deeply before making the final decision.
As far as the EEE at BITS Pilani is concerned, I am strongly against anyone joining BITS irrespective of the branch they choose. The curriculum is poorly structured and lacks flexibility. The placement scenario is deteriorating day by day. The exposure offered is null and thus BITS Pilani should be your last option when all doors are closed. You will end up wasting your time and money with no solid knowledge up your sleeve by the end of 4 years.
Ultimately, the decision of which program to choose depends on your personal preferences and career goals.
Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) are two different branches of engineering. As some of my friends had these courses, I can share some details about them, later analyzing which you can make a decision.
Because CSE is currently at its pinnacle and will almost certainly reach saturation in the next 4 to 5 years. So, at this time, it would be wiser to choose ECE. regardless of the college, whether it is NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal, or any other NITs or IITs in India.
I have a friend who is an alumnus from the 2007-11 batch of the EEE branch and based on her input, I would highly recommend you to join this campus! In case you miss out on getting into NIT/IIT, trust me, you should go for Amrita as your third-best choice.
My friend had completed her B.Tech from Amrita and went to a top-notch government college for her M.Tech. It would provide you exposure like no other renowned college in the whole of Kerala. My friend and her batchmates were experts in the microcontroller program. Their expertise led them to participate in programming for FPGA.
Therefore, one should always consider joining Amrita for the EEE branch.
When faced with a similar situation different people make different choices. There is no right choice as it’s a matter of personal preference. IIT Indore CSE and BITS Pilani EEE are both lucrative options and thus only your personal choices can determine the right one.
There are some who wish to grab the IIT tag and want to take CS because the branch is a major crowd-puller. While some want to experience the brand and prestige of the old BITS Pilani.
I would suggest you go for IIT Indore as the small batch size has its own benefits and moreover, IIT Indore has been growing quickly and seems to give more promising results in the future. The small batch size gives the vibe of a small family and you will love the bond here. BITS Pilani on the other hand has its own aura with Meritocracy as the mantra but its high fees are a major issue.
Both the institutes are equally good and choosing one of the other wouldn’t be a regretful decision.
For every Engineering aspirant, choosing the branch is the most crucial task as it is an important step in shaping your career. I suggest you take your inclinations into consideration. No doubt, it’s difficult to identify your interests right after class 12th.
CSE in IIT Mandi
The other options available with your rank are
The best way would be to do extensive research about both colleges, make a list of things that you are looking for in your B.Tech program, prioritize and quantify them and then take the final decision.
Jadavpur University is ranked 5th among the universities in India. The Department of CSE at this University is renowned for its placement and academic support
NIT Warangal is also one of the most reputed engineering colleges in India. They have a good infrastructure, a rich alumni network, and provide quality education to their students. The department of EEE is gifted with well-qualified professors and the placement statistics in recent years have been comparatively high at NIT Warangal
Hence, you can choose any of these institutes, and initial priority should be given to your interest in the core subject.
All the mentioned institutions offer good academic opportunities for students. But in my opinion, Electrical from IIT Bhubaneswar is a better choice than IIT Guwahati Civil, IIT Patna Electrical and Electronics and IIT Kanpur Material Science.
IIT BHU and IIT Guwahati are well-established and reputed institutions in India. Both of them have pros and cons. If you are looking to have a career in the mechanical field, IIT BHU is a good option for you. They are best at placement support and academics, and you will have the advantage of the branch change policy. Let us have a detailed comparison between IIT BHU and IIT Guwahati
Placement – The recruiters from major companies mostly give placement to the students from IIT BHU. This institution is renowned for its placement support, and they confirm that they provide effective placement for their students contingent on their caliber in the respective field. At IIT Guwahati, only a lesser number of students got placed in big companies with high-salary jobs when compared with IIT BHU.
Campus – Both institutes offer good campus life to the students. They have good infrastructure and a top library facility.
Branch Change Policy – IIT BHU has a branch change policy that will allow you to change your branch from mechanical to CSE after the first year. Only 10% of students with a good CGPA will get the chance to change branches.
Academics – Students are given effective classes conducted by experienced scholars in both institutes. You will be given study materials and have a library facility for more references.
You can opt for IIT BHU, which is perfect for a mechanical student.
A good friend of mine has pursued EEE in UIET from Chandigarh. I reached out to him to catch up with some details and the latest facts.
If you are wanting to go for IT/CSE- UIET, Chandigarh is a great choice. But if you want to pursue EEE at UIET, then it is not a good choice. If we talk about the placement scenario over there, barely one or two core companies show up for that. A bunch of candidates ends up getting placed in the IT sector- which isn't worth it.
Here are the recent placement statistics for the EEE branch at UIET.
|
Average CTC |
6.5 LPA |
|
Highest CTC |
28 LPA |
Opting for any other engineering college would be a better choice if you want to go for EEE. But then, if you have decided to strictly adhere to UIET, perhaps check out other branches like Chemical Engineering, CSE as they come along with a fine set of faculty and better placement stats.
