The full-time 4 year BTech in Aerospace Engineering degree program at Jain University has a Grade ‘A’ NAAC accreditation and has been ranked at 117 by NIRF in 2020. The course is conducted under the scope of IIAEM.

Course Structure: The curriculum is well-designed and spread across 8 semesters offering a good balance of theory and practical subjects. The last two semesters also require students to submit a practical project.

Faculty: Most of the faculties are alumni members from IIT’S, NAL, ISRO, and ADA. The faculty are also known to help students with internships, and placements through their industry contacts.

Infrastructure: For the aerospace department, the university offers multiple practical laboratories, experimental facilities- like the subsonic wind tunnel facility and research collaborations.

Admissions:

  • To be eligible for admissions students are required to qualify and clear the Jain Entrance Test (JET) conducted by the institution.

  • The selection process is based on the ranking. Apart from that, students must also have a minimum score of 60% in 10+2.

Placements: Aerospace engineering is still a developing field in India because of which there are very few companies that hire students directly from campuses. Students who complete the course are usually offered jobs in Tech and IT companies like TCS and Infosys. The average CTC received by the students is 7 LPA.

Hence, for students who are passionate about studying aerospace engineering and are looking for a decent university to enhance their skills, Jain University is a good option.

What is the better option for an undergraduate course from PEC University Chandigarh, mechanical or aerospace?

SC
Sarthak Chaudhuri Posted On : May 25th, 2021

It all depends on your personal preferences and what appeals to you the most. However, if none of these two branches piques your attention, then definitely mechanical engineering in PEC is the way to go.

  • Mechanical is often favored over Aerospace in terms of placement, faculty, or any other criterion.
  • Mechanical is an evergreen branch, as they claim, and they call it that for a reason.
  • It is in high demand. All industries will need the mind of a mechanical engineer today and forever.

Is Malla Reddy Engineering College good for a B.Tech in aeronautical engineering?

DB
Debarati Banerjee Posted On : January 20th, 2021
Mechanical Engineering department, National Institute of Technology, 2019

No, it is not a suitable option for B.tech in aeronautical engineering. A friend of mine has studied there and notified me about its drawbacks. He strongly suggested me not to take admissions to that college

  • There is no separate branch for aeronautical engineering. You won't be able to get the required education and the appropriate syllabus if your aim is higher studies in this field.
  • The quality of education at Malla Reddy Engineering College is not satisfactory. The faculty isn’t helpful nor is the reputation to draw renowned companies for placements. Even the most brilliant students struggle to get a good salary from the companies that recruited them.
  • The degree from this college won't be of much help to you while aiming for high-profile jobs with a strong salary package.

If one is keen on pursuing B.tech in aeronautical engineering then it would be advisable to look at any of the IITs, NITs, or the other top 20 colleges.

  • In the year 2020, no aeronautical based companies visited the campus for recruitment which led to a zero placement rate.
  • The few students who were selected during placements were taken in by the non-core companies.
  • The students were thus left with zero option but to indulge themselves in other streams of engineering.
  • Regardless of this, their starting salary was 2.5 LPA. The salary was not at all satisfactory.

Let's take a look at the factual table to get a better understanding of the situation –

Placement rate for Aeronautical Engineering branch (2020)

0%

Placement rate for other engineering branches (non-core) (2020)

65%-70%

Average package salary (2020)

>2LPA and <6LPA

Quality of teachers appointed

Average (Some of them are good, some are not)

Curriculum

Needs improvement; Modifications required in terms of the current requirement of this field.

Therefore, keeping the above discussions in mind Malla Reddy College is not favorable for pursuing B.tech in aeronautical engineering. One should concentrate on getting admitted to either IITs or NITs, even if one has to wait and prepare for a year or more.

Which one should I choose, Aerospace at IIEST or ECE at Heritage Institute of Technology, given that I'm interested in both?

SM
Shalini Mehra Posted On : September 23rd, 2021
B.Tech Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering,Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology

Seeing your interest in both branches, IIEST has a wide scope of diverse cultures and you will find many students from all over the nation.

IIEST Shibpur offers great exposure in terms of academics as well as extra-curricular activities along with the interactive clubs and fun happening fests. It comes under the Government of India and is one of the NIT.

However, Aerospace Engineering is not a trending branch anymore and it was in the limelight a decade ago. To open up more opportunities, you will be required to pursue a Master’s or prepare for the competitive exams to get a decent job.

ECE at Heritage Institute is more prominent but being a private college, it is not up to the mark as compared to Aerospace Engineering. The placement opportunities at HIT are not good. Therefore, all you can do is to opt for IIEST, get a decent aggregate, and change the branch from Aerospace to ECE in the second year.

How are the facilities of the aerospace engineering department in Karunya University?

TC
Tanush Chandra Posted On : September 9th, 2021
B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering from Karunya University (2020)

The Department of Aerospace was started in Karunya University with the primary objective to produce aerospace engineers for meeting the ever-growing demand for engineers for serving the sectors that are civil aeronautical and defense-oriented. At the same time, the department also aims to employ part of its staff in the expansion of space R&D as the demand for space applications in communication, strategic applications, remote sensing, etc is increasing.

The technologists and entrepreneurs of Karunya University are in much demand by the aircraft design and manufacture as there is still a lack of a viable civilian aircraft and industry sector in the country. A large part of the business still goes out to foreign launch operations despite the presence of large communication satellites that are launched into synchronous orbits.

The experimental facilities at Karunya University have been set up not only to teach but also to evolve as tools of research and consultancy. The specifications of the facilities have been laid out with their eventual research application. You will have to perform testing and generation of data for real-life applications in aircraft, spacecraft, and rockets as opposed to cases that are idealized in the UG curriculum.
