How good is IIM Lucknow PGPSM course in terms of placement?

MB
Muskan Bhati Posted On : February 8th, 2024
Studied at IIM Lucknow

The PGPSM course of IIM Lucknow is fairly new, and has a small batch size. The placements for this course are good enough, and the average package is comparable to the flagship PGP course of IIML.

It is quite easy for a college of this stature to get such a small batch of students placed. But PGPSM is conducted from the Noida campus, so the students lose out on the facilities and opportunities available at the main Lucknow campus.

But this course is recommended for those who want to build a career in Sustainable Management.

What exactly will I miss out on if I do my MBA from IIM Lucknow instead of IIM A/B/C?

AT
Akshana Tiwari Posted On : February 2nd, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Lucknow

There are several candidates who have this query of difference between IIM Lucknow and IIM A/B/C. Discussed below is what can be gained in IIM Lucknow, and what are the factors to be missed.

  • The IIM Lucknow campus is beautiful and has a calmness all around the surroundings.
  • The mess food is as good as any restaurant, and no way close to any hostel food. There are comments mentioning its quality, the unlimited supply. There are several facilities like a juice counter, paratha counter, egg counter, etc. There are facilities for night mess and that too in-room service.
  • Talking about sports facilities, the count is huge. Football field, futsal field, squash field, cricket ground, volleyball/throwball courts, basketball court, tennis court, Gym, swimming pool, indoor games including table tennis, pool and snooker, and even sauna are there inside the campus.
  • There are a number of ways inside the campus for the all-round development of students. There are several student-run cultural clubs (Dance/ Choreography, Singing/ Music, Drama, Photography, Spicmacay, etc.). There are committees managed by students for academic development in Finance, Consulting and Strategy, Marketing, Operations, etc. There is a committee for Media management too. There is also a committee that works towards the betterment of society through its activities.
  • There is a gender diversity of 30-50% girls as well as 70-80% engineers in IIM Lucknow, which is opposed to other IIMs having 90+ % engineers.
  • IIM Lucknow provides immense opportunities for business ideas and E-cell helps students in converting those ideas to life. There are several student-made ventures already running inside the campus.

Other than the above points, the placement of IIM Lucknow is as good as top IIM A/B/C, having the same companies recruiting from all the top IIMs. Overall, these factors can help build perspectives for choosing the right institute for CAT rankers and especially, IIM aspirants.

How were your 2 years at IIM Lucknow?

HN
Hardik Nagar Posted On : January 16th, 2023
IIM Lucknow

Only two issues were present during your two years at IIM Lucknow, but they were enough to ruin your life.

  • Placement Group:

The placement team at IIM Lucknow is utterly corrupt on a divine level. It is the only IIM where our placement report has never been revealed. Not even the funded numbers released by IIM I & K.

Despite IIM L, being one of the top ten B schools in the country, the overall average and median package offered was INR 31.03 LPA and INR 29 LPA, respectively. After more than a month, 10% of the batch remains unplaced. Deserving candidates are doomed in a system dominated by such greedy and unethical individuals.

  • Faculty:

The next two years of your education will be spent being tormented by extra assignments whenever a good company visits campus by money-minded, egoistic professors who know nothing and teach an outdated curriculum. Around 10% of professors are divine.

Another 20% are somewhat average and do a good job of teaching, but they are limited by the useless curriculum. However, 70% of the professors are just pitiful; they don't know anything and don't know how to teach it. They are only concerned with making commissions on anything they can in order to sell businesses their useless MDPs.

How is IIM Kozhikode in comparison to IIM Lucknow?

PP
Pratik Parikh Posted On : May 15th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

IIM Kozhikode and IIM Lucknow are both highly reputed institutions in the field of management education in India offering top-quality education. However, they seem to have some differences in terms of their focus areas and curriculum.cIM Kozhikode focuses more on research and academics with an upper hand in the areas of finance and economics. IIM Lucknow on the other hand is known for its focus on management education and its strong reputation in the areas of marketing and human resources. My friend was a student of IIM Kozhikode but stayed at IIM Lucknow for a while so he had a picture of both the institutes.

  • IIM Kozhikode fairs better in terms of climate and weather conditions than IIM Lucknow
  • IIM Lucknow has a better quantity and quality of recruiters during the placement season
  • South Indians are more friendly than people in Lucknow
  • IIM Kozhikode has better opportunities in terms of student Exchange programs.
  • IIM Kozhikode offers a better campus view and has a serene ambiance in comparison to IIM Lucknow which is mostly arid dryland.
  • The food offered at both the institutes may highly vary in taste but the quality is equally good.

Both institutes have a strong alumni network and good placement records. Ultimately, the choice between the two will depend on the individual's interests and career goals.

Which previous years did IIM Lucknow conduct the CAT, and what should be the strategy to write the CAT when IIM Lucknow is conducting it?

AS
Ayushi Srivastav Posted On : September 19th, 2022
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Raipur

IIM Lucknow conducted the 2017 CAT after 7 years. The institute is known to be quant-oriented. The quant section is generally most difficult on years, IIM Lucknow set the question paper. But an overall balance is maintained in terms of difficulty. If the quant section is difficult, the other section will be comparably easy.

It is natural for B-Schools to stick to their forte. But that does not mean you need to change your preparation strategy. Rather than trying anything new, you should try to strengthen your skills.

What is the USP of IIM Lucknow?

TC
Tanuj Chandra Posted On : January 16th, 2023
PGDM from Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (Graduated 2018)

The curriculum that students will follow will be IIM Lucknow's USP.

The time spent on campus at IIM Lucknow, including academics, committees, extracurriculars, and, of course, friends and parties, is one of the most hectic periods a student can experience in the country. At IIML, you work six days a week and have projects, assignments, and exams on Sundays. So you have almost no weekends. It's the equivalent of working three months straight to earn seven days off (term break). The combination of summer heat and winter cold will give you goosebumps.

But, once again, this is what distinguishes the students. They are prepared to thrive and excel in even the most difficult environments.

Should I choose IIM lucknow over Calcutta for marketing?

SM
Srinjini Mukharjee Posted On : May 2nd, 2022
MBA from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (2021)

You should choose IIM Calcutta. It is better in terms of peer group, faculty profiles, ranking across the country and abroad, location, alumni base, and placements. You will get better opportunities at IIM Calcutta.

As per the recent statistics, IIM Calcutta placements for the sales and marketing sector are pretty good. Almost 14% of students received placements in General Marketing and Marketing sector. The average CTC offered by the companies in this sector is INR 29 LPA.

IIM Calcutta also has a better brand value compared to IIM Lucknow. In the long run, you can benefit a lot from that.
