Which is better IMI Delhi or Great Lakes Chennai?

AB
Arushi Bhasin Posted On : March 7th, 2023
Economics honours from University of Delhi (Graduated 2017)

In my opinion, IMI Delhi is a better option than Great Lakes, Chennai. Let’s discuss some key highlights of the institute

  • Location: The campus is located in Qutub Institutional Area, Next to IIT, and is in the vicinity of the outer ring road. It’s located within city limits and is surrounded by Central Government offices.
  • Infrastructure: The campus comprises both, Academic Blocks and Hostels for Second Years The hostels for first years are at a distance of 2 km from the campus and there is a facility of late night shuttle bus service to and fro at the institute and hostel.
  • Faculty & curriculum: IMI has experienced faculty for all domains be it Finance, Marketing, HR, or Operations. The additional visiting faculty adds to the already competent faculty pool and provides diverse experience and exposure.
  • Placements: The placements are pretty decent with students getting desired roles during the summer internships. From my friends, a marketing major was offered an internship at J Walter Thompson India. Another HR major got an internship offer from Capgemini HR Consulting.
  • Alumni: Established in 1981, the institute enjoys an excellent reputation and legacy and thereby boasts of an elaborate alumni network.

All these factors combined make IMI Delhi a very good option over Great Lakes.

Are placement figures of New IIMs, IMT Ghaziabad and IMI Delhi inflated or genuine?

DR
Devesh K Rathi Posted On : January 25th, 2023
Works at Accenture (company)

I can say with certainty that IMT Ghaziabad’s placement figures are highly inflated mainly because my own sister was a victim of the same. The placement committee portrays the inflated packages in different ways. The situation is worse at IMT Delhi. The students who join such colleges are mainly drawn because of the placement reports feeling wronged and rightly so.

IMT Ghaziabad’s summer placements witnesses most of the batch receiving stipends of around 15-20k only. Some students even have to go for unpaid internships. Most of the students get placed in start-ups only.

The final placements are all the more inflated with so many hidden variables that make it even impossible to identify the root cause of inflation. A major part of the batch receives an in-hand salary of around 60-65k only.

The new IIMs also have inflated placement figures but this problem is way more serious at private institutes like IMT, NMIMS, SIBM, and SCMHRD. The real average package offered at IMT Ghaziabad is around INR 10 LPA only. Many students are offered packages as low as 5-6 LPA while many remain unplaced.

How difficult is it to get a loan for IMT Ghaziabad, MDI, IMI Delhi, or TAPMI?

SP
Sanat Puri Posted On : January 27th, 2023
MBA in Marketing & Information Technology, Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad (Graduated 2020

IMT Ghaziabad offers financial assistance through various Educational loans. Many Nationalized banks have decent loan schemes for students of such prestigious B Schools.

One such Central Government scheme is the Vidhyadhanush wherein, students from IMT, MDI, IMI, Depts of IITs, and other elite B Schools are offered unsecured education loans with interest rates as low as 8.3-8.5. The maximum loan amount one can get is around 20 Lakhs. You can compare the schemes of different banks on the basis of interest rates, eligibility of your B Schools, and collateral schemes. It’s best to avail of the Central Government scheme to get the advantage of zero interest rate till the moratorium period. You can save as much as 1.5 Lakhs through this scheme.

The procedure to secure an education loan is very simple and quick. All one needs to do is study and compare various schemes and choose the best for themselves. Right after induction, many branches of banks put forward their loan schemes in front of the batches.

Which is better, a PGDM in banking and financial services at IMI, Delhi or a PGDM general in LBSIM, Delhi?

RP
Rajan Patel Posted On : March 3rd, 2023
PGDM Finance, Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad (2018)

I can speak with certainty that PGDM at LBSIM is a far better option than PGDM in Financial services at IMI Delhi. My brother is a recent pass out from LBSIM and the following highlight of the institute are based on his personal experiences

  • The IIRF ranks LBSIM 25th among private colleges
  • It has a spectacular ROI in terms of placements and fees
  • LBSIM is famous for its student culture
  • You can get an insight into various angles of the industry you will be dealing with in the future
  • You can avail an abundance of opportunities through live projects and get to have a detailed experience in your specialization.
  • The institute prioritizes a practical approach over theoretical knowledge through academic activities outside the classroom
  • Various academic and non-academic clubs make the environment a friendly one
  • The institute boasts of a 100% placement record
  • It has an elaborate alumni network that is spread across top companies like Big Four’s, Arcesium, Marsh & Mclennan, Asian Paints, Crisil
  • LBSIM collaborates with various international universities for its student exchange program. Some of them include Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, Northern Illinois University, USA, European Higher School of Economics and Management, Bulgaria etc.
  • A unique feature of the B School is its Bloomberg Terminal which is restricted to the top B Schools like IIM B, IIM C, and FMS only.

All these points clearly state that LBSIM is a very good choice for a PGDM program.

Why is IMI Delhi not good for somebody with an experience of 2.5 years? I have got a PGDM offer from IMI Delhi and I was looking for honest opinions about the college.

RB
Ranshi Banka Posted On : March 3rd, 2023
Investment Banking Associate (2018–present)

I cannot agree with the claim that IMI Delhi is not good for someone who has an experience of more than two years. My friend told me that her batch in 2020 had an average work experience of 32 months.

Joining an elite B School is not enough. Once you have successfully joined the desired B School, you need to make constant efforts to remain at the top. Just getting admission is not enough. You need to work relentlessly and meet the standards of the institute.

Even if someone has an experience of more than 2 years, he cannot cut down his efforts to remain at the top. He needs to maintain his sincerity toward academics because there is tough competition. Giving your best is the key once you have been admitted to a good B School. Keep aside secondary factors like work experience and pay academics.

Which one to choose between TAPMI PGDM and IMI Delhi PGDM (Banking & Finance)? Give reasons for the choice.

AK
Aditya Kwatra Posted On : March 3rd, 2023
Studied at College of Engineering, Trivandrum

I am certain that if I had been in your place I would have opted for TAPMI PGDM over IMI Delhi PGDM. I even have a friend who recently joined this program and is very happy with her decision so I have more assurance in this regard.

TAPMI is well recognized not only in India but abroad as well, especially in the Middle East. I know many colleagues from my last workplace who relocated to the Middle East and other foreign countries after graduating from TAPMI.

The infrastructure and campus are very beautiful, unlike the NCR campus which is hot and congested. Delhi is suitable only if you are interested in Sales roles. Else for specialization in Finance and Banking TAPMI is the best choice one can make. Some companies that visited the campus during placements are

  • Deloitte
  • Bajaj
  • CRISIL
  • Fincare
  • HDFC Bank
  • Invesco

I think TAPMI is the best option if you are looking for a sales role in a Finance company.

How good is IMI Delhi 'executive PGDM' compared to other 1 year exe-MBA courses in India?

HS
Harry Sandhu Posted On : March 3rd, 2023
MBA from International Management Institute (2021)

IMI Delhi Executive PGDM is a very good choice if you are on the lookout for improving your learning caliber and climbing the corporate ladder higher. It is most suitable for working professionals who join on a sabbatical and don’t leave their jobs to pursue this program.

The faculty is highly experienced and will guide you throughout the program. The placement for their flagship course is better than the executive course. They falsely claim to offer lateral placement support. If you are joining the program be prepared for no general increase in salary or placements. Join the program only if your primary purpose is to learn. Less than half of the students get placed in this program too with below-average packages. If you are ready to face it with a positive mindset, then only opt for this program.
