Is it worth to take a drop and prepare for IIM-INDORE IPM?

IB

B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Jabalpur (IIITDMJ)

I have a few friends from IIM Indore and according to them, it is risky to take a year-drop to prepare for IPM. Before taking a drop and preparing for IPM at IIM Indore, consider the fees which are quite high. You can even appear for the entrance exam for IPM while continuing your current college. If you end up getting selected for admission, you can discontinue your current college.

Which one is better for keeping further studies as an option, an IPM at IIM Indore or a B.Stat at ISI?

SM
Sujoy Majumder Posted On : September 3rd, 2021
Studied Finance & Marketing at Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (2018)

Both the above-mentioned options are excellent to be considered. The IIMs prepares you to manage people and processes, whereas the ISI prepares you to be excellent quants.

Many IIM graduates work as quantitative analysts, they get the highest-paying jobs. If the ISI course is more appropriate, you could take the Bachelor of Statistics course. Quantitative analysts, on the other hand, tend to wear out soon, due to heavy workload.

An IIM education provides you with a broad perspective on management as well as access to a large alumni network. So, if you want to work your way up the corporate ladder, an IIM would be a better option. At the end of the day, it's up to you to decide where your priorities lie.

Is the selection process for admission to 5 years IPM of IIM Indore fully transparent?

RG
Rohit Gupta Posted On : August 27th, 2021
Studied at Xavier School of Management (2019)

Earlier the selection process for admission in the 5 years IPM was not so transparent. Students had to resort to Right To Information (RTI) to get to know their stats for the admission process. An entrance exam was conducted and students didn’t even get to know the marks scored in the test and they didn’t even know how to evaluate themselves or the evaluation process. 60 percent weightage was given to the entrance exam and 40 percent weightage was given to the interview.

Nowadays it is very transparent. The admission committee views your past academic results mainly 11th and the boards. It grants you admission on the basis of past academic records, entrance exams, and interviews. So it is considered quite transparent these days as compared to earlier.

How long is the WAT-PI process at IIM Indore?

AM
Ajay Malhotra Posted On : August 28th, 2021
B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, National Institute of Technology Sikkim (2020)

For the Writing Ability Test or WAT, you will be allowed half an hour to write 300 words on a topic that you will be given. The topics can be varying such as the Privatization of sports in India, how to solve the problem of water pollution, scarcity of water, the quality of higher education in the country.

The Personal Interview Round is usually around 15 minutes long. It can be longer or shorter than that, though. If you are a fresher, then be thorough with your academics or the questions pertaining to your work experience if you do have work experience. Be aware of current affairs. If you took time off for preparing for the entrance exams, be sure to prepare rational and convincing enough answers as your interviewers will ask you about the gap in your resume.

When comparing business schools, there are several factors that can be considered, such as placements, opportunities, and brand value. In terms of these factors, the Mumbai campus of IIM Indore may be considered superior to IMT Ghaziabad.

IIM Indore, Mumbai campus is known for its strong placement record and a good track record of students getting placed in top-notch companies with high salary packages. The campus has a good reputation in the industry which is beneficial for students to get good internships and job opportunities. How do I crack the IIM Indore IPM test after class 12?

DG
Disha Goyal Posted On : August 28th, 2021
Economics Hons. from Ramanujan College, Delhi University (2020)

Well, right now it is suggested that you should focus completely on your 12th board. After this, you first research a bit about IPM and how much time it will take to prepare. With such data, you can start preparing for IPM and by the time your exam comes, you will be ready.

As much as I know about IPM, it consists of 60% of quantitative aptitude and 55% of which includes higher mathematics, which is basically your complete 11th and 12th mathematics.

  • So if you prepare your maths in the 12th nicely, you don't need to struggle after your boards, especially in the quant section.
  • As for the verbal section, I would advise you to start reading English newspapers. It will help you in the reading section.
  • Verbal section includes questions of antonyms, synonyms; fill in the blanks, idioms & phrases, and analogies which you can prepare from any CAT book.

IPM Aptitude Test Pattern:

  • The exam pattern states that IPM Aptitude Test is a multiple choice objective type paper with 100 questions divided among 2 sections.
  • The duration of the exam is 2 hours.
  • Each question carries 4 marks and there is a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer.
  • Quantitative Ability-60, Verbal Ability- 40

As in the interview, the questions which are asked basically depend upon the subjects you studied in 10+2 and your career aspirations. Be well aware of the current events and trends. If you follow these points, your exam would become a lot easier.
