BSc.(Hons) Chemistry from Daulat Ram College, Delhi University (2018)

Both these colleges are good options for pursuing a BCom honors. The quality of academics offered at these colleges is decent. However, being situated at the North campus, Daulat Ram has an edge over Gargi College. The faculty base is great at DRC. You will get decent exposure along with the advantages of being on the north campus.

With 95% in CBSE, should I try for a B.Com (Hons) from DU or pursue a BBA from Christ University?

AS

Lives in Bangalore

Both the colleges are well known and the degrees that you want to pursue are in high demand. However, it depends on your interests and preferences. A BBA degree from Christ University focuses on the various aspects of marketing, business administration, management, operation and human resources. The B.Com degree from Delhi University focuses on finance, commerce, economics and accounting. Another factor that you must consider is the location of the college and which is more comfortable for you. Both the colleges have active campus life but Christ is the winner because of the multiple events, fests and club activities that take place every day. The placements for both the courses are satisfactory. So, give it a thought and choose the degree that you are passionate about.

How is Mithibai College Mumbai for a B.Com?

RG
Riya Gaur Posted On : January 14th, 2022
B.Com from Mithibai College (2017)

According to the reviews online, if you are pursuing a very demanding professional course, rethink about joining Mithibai college.

  • Firstly, you will need to maintain at least 75% attendance, missing that you won't be able to sit for your examinations.
  • Due to autonomy, they have got powers to change the examination system according to their will. While all other colleges have just one internal (FC), here they have internals for every subject.
  • These internals include a written test of 25 marks for Maths, Economics and Accounts.
  • For the other subjects, they want you to do projects and make PPTs and give a proper presentation.
  • All these take away your time for your professional exam studies.
  • This is a problem because you also have to study for the semester exams.
  • So while every other college's CA students study once at the end, students here have to study throughout.

If you are pursuing B.Com, it is suggested that you go for other options like HR and NM. The teaching faculty is better than other colleges, so that is a plus. Lastly, it completely depends on your choice to pursue B.Com here or not.

Which is better: Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, Sri Guru Gobind College or Dyal Singh College for a B.Com programme?

SD
Sidharth Dua Posted On : January 13th, 2022
B.Com hons. from Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, University of Delhi (2022)

According to the reviews online, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce (SGGSCC) is a very well maintained institution. They have a proper infrastructure with a good faculty and student crowd. Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (SBSC) is also academically a good institute.

It is suggested that you do not go for Dyal Singh College (DSC) but opt for anyone among the other two mentioned.

Between SGGSCC and SBSC make your choice based on the location. If you belong to South Delhi, Noida or Gurgaon, then choose SBSC. If you are from any other part of Delhi choose SGGSCC.

If you are from an outstation choose SGGSCC as overall living cost in North Delhi is cheaper than South Delhi and you can also stay near North Campus which will help you interact with a much more diverse set of people.

Which one of them is better for a BCom honours, Seth Anandram Jaipuria College or Heramba Chandra College?

SD
Sayan Dasgupta Posted On : November 20th, 2021
B.Com from Seth Anandram Jaipuria College

Heramba Chandra College is one of the top-tier Commerce colleges in West Bengal. It is better than Seth Anandram Jaipuria College. Here are the pros and cons of joining Heramba Chandra College.

Pros:

  • Great faculty base.
  • Good ROI.
  • Various clubs and associations that you can join.
  • The one and only Commerce lab in Eastern India.
  • Great Library with online access.
  • Regular workshops and seminars.
  • High-speed internet access.
  • Great alumni base.
  • There is a computer center, i.e. ASCII.
  • The campus is ragging-free.
  • There are smart classes.
  • Good placement record.

Cons:

  • The college does not have hostel accommodation. But there are good PG facilities near the campus.
  • The classes are non-AC. Also, there are no lifts.

At Jaipuria there are almost no placement opportunities. Also, the campus has high political influences.

The peer group at Herambachandra is better too since the cutoff is higher. Overall, it is a better prion for pursuing a B.Com degree.

Amit Chaturvedi Posted On : June 4th, 2022
B.A from University of Delhi (2020)

Yes, DU SOL is a good option for pursuing B.Com. To score well, you will have to be self-disciplined. You need to complete the syllabus on your own with the help of teachers and instructors. This course is especially good for people doing professional courses on the side.

Scoring 60% in the final year is not that difficult. The final year syllabus has more focus on practical subjects. To score well focus on these subjects.

studied at Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi University (2018)

Among Sri Venkateswara and Ramjas, the former is the better option for a B.Com program.

The administration at Venky is quite good. It has many active societies. Everything at the institute is online. You can easily get your admit cards or pay your fees. It also offers better academics and faculties.

Which college is better for a BCom honours: Gargi college, Indraprastha College for women or Daulat Ram College?

MC
Manisha Chakraborty Posted On : February 1st, 2022
B.A. Philosophy, Daulat Ram College, Delhi University (2019)

Among these institutes, Daulat Ram Collge has a great Commerce faculty base. The professors are well-experienced and dedicated. They help students with their doubts even after college hours.

It is situated on the north campus. It is a fun place to be. There is always some event going on. Also, Daulat Ram has a great fest called Manjari.

Gargi College and Indraprastha College for Women are also good alternatives. If you clear the required cutoff for all these colleges, your preference order should be Daulat Ram>I.P>Gargi.

What are the recommended books for b.com hons 1st year for SOL DU?

DS
Devdutta Sharma Posted On : September 29th, 2021
B.Com Studying & General Knowledge,School of Open Learning,University of Delhi (2017)

One of my friends graduated from SOL DU and here’s what I got to know from him. He mentioned that the recommended books vary from student to student.

  • If any student prepares for an exam just before one day, then they should opt for Ten Years of that subject, because the Ten Years has the solutions for the past years’ question papers.
  • Students find it easy because they get an idea about what type of questions are asked in the exams and revise 2 to 3 papers. This is enough to get passing marks in the exams.
  • But if you revise the summary of each chapter from SOL study material and then try 1 or 2 sample papers of that subject then it will increase your confidence and you can secure good marks. This method takes 2 to 4 days for every subject.
  • Attend S.O.L. PCP classes and there you will get recommendations from lecturers.
  • Also, you can check the syllabus book provided by S.O.L. for the recommended books of each subject.

Do not forget to study the S.O.L. books and Ten Years. Study hard, because scoring good marks will help to enhance your aggregate percentage.
