How good is the PGPEx program at IIM Shillong?
There is often a misunderstanding about placements at IIMs after course completion. IIM Shillong: Founded in 2008, not long before the new IIMs, it has its own interviewing process rather than the CAP. Both the new IIMs and Shillong are progressing at the same rate. MDI Gurgaon is a better option. It has a better location and offers good placement and return on investment. It is situated close to a major city. So, you will get better opportunities in terms of placements, internships, live projects, etc.

How is life at IIM Shillong?
IIM Shillong offers a good campus experience. The professors are friendly, supportive, and well-qualified. You can get their help regarding any academic-related problems. Which is the best institute for an MBA, IIM Shillong, MDI Gurgaon or NITIE Mumbai?
Among these, NITIE Mumbai is the best institute for an MBA. It is considered the Mecca of Operations and SCM. The Ops and SCM job profiles offered at NITIE Mumbai placements are even better than the ones offered from these sectors at IIM ABCL. The final placement record for 2022 showed the average CTC is INR 24.51 LPA. Highest CTC offered this year was INR 49 LPA.
Locational benefits, a huge alumni base, and a stellar placement record are some of the other factors that work in favor of NITIE.
Should I go for an MBA in IIM Shillong or wait another year for better opportunities?

It is suggested that if you’re also stuck in the same situation and confident about cracking the CAT with percentile needed to get admission in older IIMs then only you can try again. Otherwise, go for IIM Shillong as it will prove to be the right choice for better career opportunities.
What's the selection criteria for IIM Shillong?
Candidates for PGP batch admission are selected through a two-stage process. After getting selected for CAT in the first level, students have to appear for the Writing Skills Assessment Test (WSAT) and Personal Interview. A final merit list is prepared in the second process, on the basis of which admission to the program is offered.
The Admissions Committee will scrutinize the applications in the case of overseas applicants and short-listed applicants will be invited to the Writing Skills Aptitude Test (WSAT) and Personal Interview (PI) on the basis of their GMAT results, scholastic performance, and work experience, if any.
The WSAT and PI will take place between January and April in four Indian cities, namely Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai. Short-listed candidates will be expected to attend PI on an informed date at either of these centers at their own expense or by video conferencing.
Final selection is made based on the results in all those criteria used for short-listing the candidates for PI as well as the performance in WSAT and PI.
Selected candidates will be tentatively offered admission by the end of April, and registration for the IIM Shillong campus program will take place tentatively during the first week of April.
What are the selection criteria for IIM Shillong?
The admissions process for the Post-Graduate Program (PGP) at IIM Shillong involves two stages. In the first stage, candidates who have qualified through the Common Admission Test (CAT) are shortlisted and invited to take the Writing Skills Assessment Test (WSAT) and participate in a Personal Interview (PI). The second stage involves the creation of a final merit list based on the candidates' performance in the WSAT, PI, and other relevant factors such as their GMAT scores, scholastic performance, and work experience.
Overseas candidates will also go through a similar process, with the Admissions Committee carefully reviewing their applications and shortlisting those who meet the necessary criteria. These candidates will then be invited to take the WSAT and participate in a PI, which may be held in one of four cities in India or conducted remotely via video conferencing. The final selection of candidates is based on their performance in the WSAT, PI, and the criteria used for shortlisting them for the PI. Tentative offers of admission will be made by the end of April, and registration for the PGP program is tentatively scheduled for the first week of July at the IIM Shillong campus.
