Which is better, Delhi University or Mumbai University?

MU
Manish Upadhay Posted On : May 12th, 2022
M.A. in English (Hons.) from Mumbai University, Kalina (2017)

Delhi University is a better option. It is a central university, while MU is a state university. DU receives humongous funding from the central government. Naturally, it stands much higher than any state university including MU. It offers better education, infrastructure, and research opportunities.

DU has hardly 100 affiliated colleges. So, it’s easier for the administration to make sure the education process is smooth. MU has over 1100 colleges. Handling so many colleges, hampers the fundamentals of education, at times.

Overall, DU is more organized and offers better education and learning opportunities.

What are the rules for awarding grace marks for engineering in Mumbai University?

AM
Arpit Mukharjee Posted On : May 23rd, 2022
B.E(IT) from University of Mumbai

Mumbai University offers grace marks if you fail in one subject in a semester. Let’s say, there are 6 subjects in a semester, and if you fail in two subjects, you won’t get grace marks. The university only offers grace marks, if you pass in all the subjects except one. The amount of grace marks allotted is 10%. If you fail a theory examination with 80 marks, then 10% of 80, i.e. 8 is given as grace marks.

Which is better Pune University or Mumbai University?

AB

Both Pune University and Mumbai University are well-esteemed institutions in India imparting superior quality education. However, the one that is suitable for you depends on your individual needs and preferences. Some factors that are usually considered are location, campus culture, and research opportunities. It's advisable to research both universities and visit them in person if possible to make a wise decision.

In my opinion, however, Pune University has a much higher preference rate than Mumbai university. This is because of the following factors:

  • Pune University has a better and well-structured curriculum in comparison to Mumbai University, especially in Engineering.
  • The academic rules are more strict at Pune University and the number of backlogs allowed is also less than at Mumbai University thus maintaining the quality of Education.
  • The exams are conducted consequently and little time is given for preparation. This makes it more challenging for the students and prepares them well for the future.

If you genuinely want to understand concepts and create amazing memories along with a lot of struggles, Pune University is for you. If you are looking for a laid-back campus life and a calm learning environment, then Mumbai University is best for you.

What is different between CGPI and CGPA in engineering (Mumbai University)? How do I convert both to percentage?

AG
Akriti Gupta Posted On : August 4th, 2023
lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

The cumulative grade percentile index can be converted into percentages using two formulas:

  1. CGPI less than 7 can be calculated using the formula 7.1* CGPI + 12
  2. CGPI greater than 7 can be calculated using the formula 7.4*CGPA +10

CGPA

The cumulative grade point average is an educational grading system mainly used in colleges and schools. The method to convert 7 point scale CGPA into a percentage is given below

Initially, you need to convert the 7-point CGPA to a 10-point scale.

If a person has a 5.53 CGPA on 7 point scale CGPA then - (5.53 * 10)/7 = 7.9, which is a 10-point scale CGPA

Now calculate the percentage - 7.9 CGPA * 9.3 (standard number used by companies that come for placements) = 73.47%
