IIT Bhubaneswar is transferred to its permanent campus sometimes back. Most of the laboratory facilities for the UnderGraduate (UG) Programme are efficiently equipped as well as fully functional by now. Every school has its own laboratories that they can access.
If we talk about the Sports facilities, they are yet in a developing stage which is rather disappointing for many of the students. Apart from these facilities, other functional facilities include a gym, volleyball court, basketball court, and badminton court (both in Mahanadi [B] and Subarnarekha [G] hostels). Although, there are also temporary grounds for football, cricket, and athletics.
For all the non-functional facilities, the college is taking measures to make them functional soon so that the students can engage in extracurricular activities along with academics.
IIT Bhubaneswar has NSS as a part of extra academic activities with 100 volunteers. Being a part of NSS you can take part in Blood donation camps, awareness camps, cleaning campaigns, etc. Being a part of NSS means you can also volunteer to teach in Government schools located in nearby villages once in a week. If you are interested in becoming a part of the NSS it is completely your own choice which depends on the selection in NSS.
Apart from NSS, IIT Bhubaneswar offers many activities from sports, games, social and cultural events. The Students’ Activity Centre has indoor basketball, volleyball, and badminton courts along with a swimming pool. There are many societies in Students Gymkhana. Coding Society-Neuromancers; Astronomy Club-Nakshatra; Quiz Club. There are three Fests that are conducted every year, the socio-cultural fest - Alma Fiesta; the technical fest - Wissenaire; and the entrepreneurship fest - E-Summit. These fests give exposure to the students also providing a great learning experience.

Mechanical engineering in IIT Bhubaneswar is one of the best branches to study. Last year in 2019, the placement in this branch from this institute was 85%. Apart from this, the institute also started dual degree programs in Mechanical engineering apart from the four-year Btech course.
The IIT Bhubaneswar has the best faculty in mechanical engineering with most of them being from IIT Kharagpur. From the very beginning of 1st year, the IIT Bhubaneswar provides an opportunity for the students to work on their projects by giving them access to DIC (Design Innovation Centre).
As IIT Bhubaneswar is a new IIT, it’s still developing in terms of infrastructure, faculty, etc. If you have the option to get admission in old IIT, BITS CS, or top tier NIT CS, then you should go for these. These institutes offer a better CSE program. But if you don’t have admission offers from any other college of this stature, then IIT Bhubaneswar will be better as it represents the IIT brand.
There is a lack of infrastructure in terms of GPUs, supercomputers, etc. which are required for research works and academic projects. The department of CSE is called the school of electrical sciences and from 2017 they have come a long way. The faculty of this department is good and mostly all of them are doctorates.
The placement at IIT Bhubaneswar is decent, with CSE scoring a perfect 100% in placing all the students considering it’s a new branch. The companies coming to campus are big brands like Deloitte, Capgemini, Amazon, Adobe, Goldman Sachs, OYO etc. as well as PSUs like ISRO, IOCL. The average package is 11.44 per annum for the year 2019.
Considering IIT Bhubaneswar with the colleges mentioned above, consider joining them. But if you have got offers that are not good then go for IIT Bhubaneswar cause the IIT brand will surely help you in the future.

I think you should go for IIT Bhubaneswar. Although IIT Bhubaneswar rankings may appear to be lower than IIT Ropar and IIT Dhanbad, its overall environment and infrastructure are very engineering-focused. It is also one of the fastest-growing IITs in India. Overall, from my experience, I can tell you that you shouldn’t think twice before joining IIT Bhubaneswar.
As an IIT Bhubaneswar student, I suggest you go for IIT Bhubaneswar for ECE. IIT Bhubaneswar has highly qualified faculty members who help the students gather theoretical and practical knowledge. The first-year course fee for IIT Bhubaneswar Btech is INR 2.32 Lakhs.

I am a student of IIT Bhubaneswar and I can vouch for the institution.
I would suggest opting for MTech from IIT Bhubaneswar in electronics and communication is a better choice than IIT Bangalore.
If you ask me, I think you should opt for Mechanical at IIT Bhubaneswar rather than choosing ED at IITM. I am saying this not because I am a student of IIT Bhubaneswar but because of the high academic standards the institute maintains.
