What is the true condition of Ph.D scholars in NIT Trichy?
This is the situation at every institution, and not just NIT Trichy. The mentors are sometimes very strict on Phd. scholars. This can have a negative impact on their mental health. The solution is to conduct counseling sessions for both the mentors and the scholars. Those who feel burdened and pressured by the intense workload should remember that their hard work will eventually pay good results.
Is it worth doing an M.Tech at NIT Trichy, or should I drop?
If you plan to specialize in one particular branch related to your graduation branch, you can opt for it. Or, if you are currently working in some organization or have some work experience and there is a demand for a specialist in your organization, you can opt for it.
If you are not yet placed and still pursuing your B.Tech, I would suggest you first go for the placements and then give it a thought. NIT Trichy is a reputed institute and offers good academics. In fact, it is among the top NITs.
In terms of rate of growth in next 4 years which would be better option: CSE, NIT Trichy or IT, IIIT-Allahabad?
IIIT Allahabad has an awesome coding culture. You can note the difference when you interact with a lot of engineers from other colleges. In old engineering colleges for the first year, you would be doing foundry and welding. You might also end up learning English etc. but actual coding starts after 1st semester or in the second year. While at IIIT Allahabad coding starts from the very beginning of the course.

Also, there is a great culture of competitive programming in the institute. There are students in other premium engineering colleges who wouldn't have coded completely their engineering. This is unheard of in IIIT Allahabad.
Which college will be better for me, NIT Trichy (production engineering) or NIT Jalandhar (CS, IT)?
Comparing the two NITs we know NIT Trichy has a better ranking than NIT Jalandhar. It also holds a stronger brand name. Unless you are extremely interested in Software, I suggest Production Engineering is a better choice. Some points to prove my opinion are:

So don't lose a much stronger brand simply because of a simple stream issue. Years down the line, your credibility will be determined by the brand of NIT Trichy solely and not by production engineering at NIT Trichy.
BITS Pilani Goa campus CSE vs NIT Trichy CSE. Which is better in terms of coding culture?
Having known some people studying in both these institutes, I can say that BITS Goa and NIT Trichy both are excellent institutes when it comes to any branch. But if money is not one of your major problems, you can easily opt for CSE at BITS Goa.
- NIT Trichy is recognized and known as the best NIT overall.
- BITS Goa is higher than most of the NIT’s and IIT’s.
- The only drawback of BITS Goa is that the fees are a lot.
- For the CSE branch, I would definitely recommend BITS Goa.
- BITS Goa would be the better option available as it is famous for its CSE department and also because of lots of events and activities it conducts.
- In BITS Goa you can join the various events conducted and explore your skills and study at the same time.
- In NIT Trichy academics is given more importance.

What is the role of CPC in NIT Trichy?
One of my friends graduated from NIT Trichy and here’s what I got to know from him. According to him, only clearing the CPC test allows you to attend the campus placements.
Generally, 7 to 9 out of 10 students clear the test. But if one fails, he/she might lose the chance of attending the first 2 to 4 companies coming for placements. However, he/she may be allowed for the rest of the placements.
The test contains questions on both technical and non-technical topics and is generally easy. So make sure to prepare yourself and practice quantum and reasoning, as the students get stuck in this portion, majorly. There will be mock interviews and GD sessions, do take part in all these as these will brush up your skills.
Which is the best hostel in NIT Trichy for first year students of this year?
Fresher girls are given just one option i.e. Opal Hostel. So for them, there’s no question of the best or worst hostel. As for boys, Diamond, Agate, Coral and Jade, all are equally good. But Coral and Agate are the closest to LHC, where fresher classes are conducted. Diamond gets the best Wifi speed, but the others aren’t far behind.
I have lived some of the best years of my life at NIT Trichy. Don’t worry, whichever hostel you get, you’ll have a memorable first year at this college.
How are the faculties of NIT Trichy in instrumentation and control engineering?
I must tell you that the faculty of all NITs is quite similar.
You might be disappointed at the faculty of NIT Trichy or any other top engineering college. This is because the bar of your expectations will be high after clearing such a competitive exam. But don’t worry, you’ll really like some of the teachers from the Instrumentation and Control department. You’ll want to attend their lectures.
Make sure to have friendly relations with your seniors. They will tell you a lot about the different faculty members. Moreover, be consistent in your self study routine and take help from online resources. Don’t expect the faculty to spoon feed you.
Which is the best order of preference for core branches in IIT Hyderabad, NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal, NIT Surathkal?
The best order of preference for core branches in the aforementioned institutes would be
IIT Hyderabad>NIT Trichy>NIT Warangal=NIT Surathkal. Here are a few points justifying my order of preference.
- IIT Hyderabad has the best faculty and peer pool among other institutes as it admits top JEE rank fees for its core branches. The infrastructure is also great because it is a new IIT decked with modernized facilities. In addition to the core courses, there is a popular and industry-relevant course at IIT Hyderabad called Engineering Sciences. It’s an excellent course to explore and identify your interests.
- NITs are also known for their excellent faculty, infrastructure, and high demand among Indian students, but are considered inferior to IITs. It’s the structured curriculum that raises the academic standards of top NITs. The top NITs have produced great engineers in the past and have a strong alumni base.
Ultimately, go for IIT if you want to pursue a Master's from a foreign university as the NIT tag packs global recognition in comparison to the IIT tag.
Which one is better for the MTech: fluid and energy system in IIT Hyderabad or thermal in NIT Trichy?
The better institute for MTech out of IIT Hyderabad and NIT Trichy depends on what you want to do after MTech.
For those inclined towards research work and are willing to go for higher education like Ph.D. from a foreign university, IIT Hyderabad is the most suitable option. This is because it is a new IIT and thus has the best research and lab facilities in comparison to older IITs and NITs. The MTech program here will bring about a drastic change in your overall personality.
For those who want to get employed as soon as possible, then NIT Trichy is a preferable choice. This is because
- The sole purpose of students coming here is to get placed with lucrative packages
- The initial days witness top firms after which only average companies pay a visit to the campus
- The placement percentage is almost 100% every year
- The teachers do it encourage research culture at all.
This does not mean that IIT Hyderabad does not have placement opportunities. It’s just that for placements specifically, NIT is better but overall IIT Hyderabad is the best option.
