How good is it to join CSE at IIT Mandi instead of EEE at the Pilani campus of BITS?
Institute-wise, BITS Pilani is much better than IIT Mandi. But branch-wise, both CSE and EEE are equally good with CSE at a slighter advantage.
From this, we can infer that BITS Pilani EEE is a better choice. The placement scenario of both the branches is the same and that’s when the institute's credibility comes into play.
Many top firms recruit only from old IITs and BITS Pilani and new IITs are not even considered by these top companies. There is a stark contrast between placement scenarios of old and new IITs in terms of the package and roles offered.
I feel students are initially unaware of their actual interests and so it’s better to target a better college than a better branch. BITS Pilani EE fulfills all the criteria and offers a plethora of placement options that might not be available in new IITs like IIT Mandi.
As far as the IIT tag is concerned, the increasing number of new IITs has diluted its brand value. The IIT tag brand value rests with the old IITs only and the new IITs are not that respected. Companies prefer students from institutes like BITS Pilani or IIIT Hyderabad rather than new IITs.
Which is better: CS in BITS Pilani vs IIT BHU?
For CS, BITS Pilani is better than IIT BHU. It offers excellent resources, infrastructure, academics, and placements for the branch. BITS is widely recognized in the CSE domain. The curriculum followed is probably the best among the technological institutes in the country.
The recent highlights of BITS Pilani placements show the median CTC for CSE to be around INR 18 LPA. While the highest CTC goes up to INR 40 LPA. All major MNCs visit the campus drive. If you can afford the course fee, you should go for BITS.
Does bits pilani offer automobile engineering?
BITS Pilani doesn’t offer a specific automobile engineering course, but there are some similar courses offered by the institute in engineering.
- BITS Pilani offers courses in Automotive Engineering and IC Engines, which are direct implementations of automobile engineering subjects.
- There are some other subjects like Kinetic and Dynamics of Machines, Machine Design, etc in mechanical engineering, which is helpful if you are interested in the field of automobiles.
- There are several technical teams in BITS Pilani for students interested in automotive engineering. A team, named Inspired Karters, works on formula one cars and participates in national and international events. You can also build some projects under a professor for strengthening their own resumes.
It is true that there are not many good engineering colleges for automobile engineering in India. BITS Pilani has provided a way out for such interested students in these subjects. Also, if you are interested in designing and application for vehicles, a master’s degree is mandatory.
Which option is better, CS at BITS Pilani, IIT Dharwad, or civil at IIT D?
If you are interested in pursuing Computer Science, then according to me, BITS Pilani is a great option for you. However, IIT Dharwad is also a good choice, but BITS Pilani already has a well-established reputation and a large alumni network. The start-up culture at BITS Pilani is growing every year, giving you an opportunity to explore the world of entrepreneurship. Before deciding, you should check out the seniors at both colleges and see where you fit in easily.
On the other hand, if you are interested in Civil Engineering, IIT Dharwad is an excellent option. It is a well-established institute with a good reputation in the field of engineering.
If you haven't figured out your interests yet, then it is suggested that you opt for BITS Pilani in Computer Science. The placement opportunities and the chance to study abroad/startups in CS are higher. It is difficult to study CS subjects on different MOOCs while pursuing Civil Engineering at IIT Dharwad. So, choose your branch and college according to your future plans.
If I got in a dual degree in BITS Pilani, can I transfer to B.Tech in BITS Pilani?

Is the GATE rank compulsory for getting admission into the BITS despite only writing the BITS HD?
Both these exams are accepted for admission at BITS. GATE rank is not compulsory for admission in BITS if you have already appeared for BITS HD. The admission at BITS is conducted in two ways. Firstly, you can appear for GATE and get selected to BITS on the basis of your GATE score. Secondly, you can appear for the BITS HD exam and get selected to BITS on the basis of your score in BITS HD.
After the cutoffs are declared for these exams, the counseling process starts. During your counseling session, your marks in either GATE or BIT HD will be considered along with your preference for specialization as well as the campus of BITS. There are three campuses of BITS and you will be allotted a seat on the basis of availability and your overall score.

Can an introvert survive at BITS Pilani?
Being an introvert has nothing to do with your studies, and let me tell you, a lot of the students from top-tier colleges are introverts.
You can focus on developing your English, but as far as practical schools and placements are concerned, this will help you. You can talk to your batch mates in Hindi as well but for your academic and career growth, knowing English is paramount.
A few people in my batch were introverts and shy and did not speak English but over the course of a few months, they have changed with the way they behave, languages they speak as well as their looks.
If you are willing to adapt to your environment, you will definitely be able to survive and finally, your overall success will depend on your hard work.
How can I prepare for CAT in BITS, Pilani?
BITS, Pilani library has a huge collection of books. It stays open from 8 AM to 11 AM. You can take full advantage of the library. For your preparation, you will also get help from your seniors.
BITS Pilani also offers training and special classes for CAT aspirants. Attending these classes can be a great help in your preparation.
What is BITS Pilani Any-learn system?
BITS Pilani is an excellent institute, providing life to students that are a lot different from other institutes, including premier engineering colleges like IITs and others in India.
- Life at BITS Pilani is confined to activities inside the campus only. There are very few to almost nothing to do outside the campus of BITS Pilani. This is because BITS is situated in a very remote area. You will need to travel at least 200+ km to reach the nearest big cities like Delhi or Jaipur.
- The education system of BITS will teach you to manage your study life and extra-curricular life as well as possible.
The first year is the most stressful year at BITS Pilani because you will be new to a system of learning after 10+2. During this year, you should start to participate in clubs and events. Which may help you find your passion.
