The quality of professors here is very good. Their teaching methodology and behavior are commendable. Plus, there's renovation happening in the civil department, which is a positive sign.
However, when it comes to placements, civil engineering generally has lower placement rates everywhere. It often requires experience, higher degrees, and good contacts with contractors.
For placement factors, NIT Trichy is a solid choice since it is one of the best NITs. But if you consider all factors like beaches, professors, fests, and the department, NITK Civil could be a better option!
In my experience, it's better to choose Civil Engineering at MNNIT Allahabad over Electronics & Communication Engineering at NIT Surathkal. That said, MNNIT Allahabad has a better placement record for the Civil branch. Here are some reasons to consider Civil at MNNIT Allahabad:

With a high placement rate of 100% and average packages around 27.27 LPA, it significantly outperforms NIT Surathkal, where only 79.8% of Civil Engineering students find placements. Additionally, NIT Trichy has a lower overall fee structure and various scholarships based on family income, making it a more affordable option. NIT Trichy’s Metallurgical and Materials Engineering program offers a chill curriculum with a good faculty-student ratio, but the placement stats are pretty solid, with a highest package of 51 LPA and a placement percentage around 90%. In contrast, NIT Surathkal’s B.Tech in Computational and Data Science seems to attract top tech companies, likely due to the high demand for data skills, although specific placement figures weren’t mentioned. Both colleges have vibrant campus life and opportunities for internships, but if I had to choose, I'd lean towards NIT Surathkal for its relevance in today’s job market; it seems better suited for those aiming for tech giants. However, if you're more into materials and enjoy a relaxed pace, NIT Trichy could be your go-to.
