I scored 90% in 10th and 70% in 12th. I am a B.Com graduate. Should I go for FMS-Delhi/BHU and prepare for the CAT?

From what I have heard from a professor of mine, FMS Delhi is one of the top B-schools in the country.

  • The institute provides a very good ROI which puts the institute high in the ROI rankings.
  • FMS Delhi is worth your time and money and given the scores, you have obtained you might also end up getting called from reputed institutes like MDI, IIFT, SIBM, XLRI, etc.
  • The score in your CAT exams should compensate for your academics.
  • FMS has a very high weightage to your CAT score.

Try to obtain the maximum percentile in CAT and a good score in the verbal section. If you perform well in the interview, it will put you in the driver’s seat for a final convert.

SJ

FMS Delhi, one of India's top business schools, is noted for its strong academic program and staff. The program cost, starting salary, and job prospects affect business school ROI.

According to the Economic Times, FMS Delhi graduates earn an average of INR 24 lakhs per year (as of 2021), far greater than the program's cost. This shows that many students can profit from an FMS Delhi business degree. However, career path, job market, and personal circumstances can affect ROI.

When assessing a business school's value, do your own study and examine aspects other than money.

Yes, with a 54% in class 12th, you are eligible to pursue MBA in IIMs, FMS, and TAPMI. The eligibility criteria are more than 50% in 12th for most MBA exams. However, there are certain weights assigned to the 10th, 12th, and graduation marks in IIMs. Overall, your score should be more than the cutoff of that year. You need to build your profile and get an exceptional percentile in CAT. The same goes for FMS and TAPMI.

TA

Lives in New Delhi

Both these institutions, FMS Delhi (Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi) and IMT Ghaziabad (Institute of Management Technology) both provide post-graduate programs in finance. They are regarded as one of the best in the country. Although each institute has its own set of benefits and drawbacks, which are as follows:

Pros of FMS Delhi:

  • It has a long history of academic success and is one of India's oldest and most famous management schools. FMS Delhi's finance post-graduation programs are among India's best management schools.
  • FMS Delhi emphasizes research and offers many finance courses.
  • FMS Delhi has strong alumni and industry connections. Above that it is super affordable with a great RoI.

Cons of FMS Delhi: The admissions procedure is very competitive. Students from outside Delhi may find FMS Delhi inconvenient.

Pros of IMT Ghaziabad:

  • It has a tremendous academic reputation in India.
  • IMT Ghaziabad emphasizes practical, industry-relevant education.
  • IMT Ghaziabad alumni have excellent industrial links.
  • IMT Ghaziabad offers many finance courses and emphasizes research.

Cons of IMT Ghaziabad:

  • It is newer than FMS Delhi and may not have the same prestige. Ghaziabad may be inconvenient for students from other parts of India.
  • IMT Ghaziabad costs more than other schools, especially more than FMS. Independently it gives you a good RoI but a very low RoI in comparison to FMS.

If you have calls from both of these then just choose FMS without any second thought. Student circumstances, priorities, and aspirations will finally be the decision that which institute to attend. I hope it helps, choose wisely, All the best buddy!

How is life at FMS Delhi???

p
pranavguptaa Posted On : February 4th, 2026

A typical day at FMS Delhi starts with case discussions in class, where participation really matters. Between lectures, you’ll find students either in the library, preparing for upcoming evaluations, or rushing to society meetings. Evenings are usually spent working with peers: either on assignments, internship prep, or planning events.

During placement season, the pace picks up significantly and becomes the main focus. In between all this, events like Fiesta and section activities give students a chance to unwind and bond. Life here stays packed, but it rarely feels directionless.

How does FMS Delhi's MBA compare to other top B-schools in India?

MJ
Mansi Jain Posted On : April 15th, 2024

In terms of Faculty, FMS's MBA program is beyond par as compared to other B Schools as most faculties have years of experience and are the leading academicians in the country in their area of expertise. Examples are Prof. Kavita Singh for OB, Prof. Venkat Raman for HR etc. FMS Delhi follows a semester system so it makes it difficult for students to go on international exchange programs.
