For FMS, you need to get 99+ for a call and at least 99.5 to convert because they give a lot of weightage on CAT Percentile (50%).
For MDI, you need 94+ to get a call with sectionals over 85+, and you need anything above 98+ to convert if you don't have any work experience.
With the new FMS criteria for the batch 2020, students from the OBC category who scored 93.xx and were on the first list. However, keep in mind that conversions with these borderline percentiles are exceedingly tough because you will have to perform exceptionally well in the GD-PI process.
As a result, for an OBC candidate, a score of 97+ may be deemed safe, as an above-average GD-PI combined with this CAT score may get you a seat in FMS.
FMS witnessed the placement season for the batch 2021-23 with the highest domestic package stood at 1.23 Cr and the highest average package of 34.1 LPA. The work experience profile was more skewed towards freshers with 126 out of 269.
The average Compensation for the Top quartile is 51.6 lakhs. The maximum average package was offered to students with 37+ months of experience at 40.1 lakhs.
Nearly 50% of the students, bagged more than 30 LPA and only 3% of students got less than 20 LPA.
Prominent recruiters visit the campus across all the domains including, Sales/Marketing, IT, Analytics, Operations, Finance, Consulting, General Management, and Strategy.
There has been an increase of 19% in Finance roles. Maximum students got placed in Consulting and General Management
The following subjects are offered in IIMs, JBIMS, FMS and IIFT.
Among the above B-schools, FMS will be easier to enter because other IIMs like IIM K, IIM L, and IIM I give more weightage to past academic performance. FMS selection will be based on Personal Interviews, Group Discussions, and CAT scores.
IIM K gives 40% weightage while the initial shortlisting of candidates for Personal Interviews is contrary to IIM L and IIM Indore which gives only 20% weightage. IIM Indore gives no weightage to work experience where IIM K gives only 5% and IIM L gives 10% weightage.
All in all, if you are a mediocre student then you have to outperform others in terms of CAT score and PI/GD performance. Indore is home for freshers and competing here will be difficult but you should focus more on FMS then IIM L and then IIM K for your shortlisting and put your best foot forward and convert your calls.
All the best and Best of luck for your D-day.
Although prior work experience is not necessary to get a job after an MBA, it is desirable to recruiters. If you have work experience, then it will provide you with a little edge over the fresher crowd. If you don’t have then, it is totally fine. Many recruiters prefer fresher over a work experience person.
To do specialization in marketing, you have to complete your college first; then only you will be eligible to take specialization. Institutes do offer a choice to the students to opt for their desirable subjects, but the catch is the institute cannot provide all the subjects to all the students. There must be competition among the students to opt for trendy subjects. To get ahead of others, you must have to score well in your first year.
The only degree offered by FMS (Faculty Of Management Studies) is an MBA (Master of Business Administration).
Your degree, or any other official college document, does not and will not include any reference to a specialization. Your Major and Minor, which are both valid for internal processes, are based on the Elective subjects (that you choose in your second year of the course) from the different streams available to you.
At this time, there are no electives that are centered on the IB (International Business), although there are some electives like International Financial Management and International Business Strategy that do not mean you will be offered an MBA IB degree.
Honestly speaking, your chances of getting into IIM Lucknow Calcutta and Kozhikode are scarce unless you score 100 percentile considering your profile. IIM Ahmedabad, Indore and Shillong won’t give you a call even after 100 as their eligibility criteria focuses majorly on past academics which are below average in your case.
IIM Bangalore is unpredictable in its eligibility criteria. It might take students with poor academic backgrounds but good work experience. So if you have none you can forget this chance also.
FMS does not almost consider past academics at all but for that, you need a CAT percentile of more than 99.5. For the safer side a 99.75 might grant you a conversion.
Don’t get demotivated just because of your past academic performance and ruin your future. Rather make the most out of your present life and opportunities.
The eligibility criteria for MBA Executive program at FMS Delhi is as follows
must have pursued at least a three-year Bachelor‘s Degree program after twelve years of formal schooling having secured minimum 45% aggregate marks or equivalent grades in any of the disciplines such as Arts, Commerce, Social Sciences, Law, Sciences, Mathematics/ Statistics, Medicine, Engineering or Technology.
Additionally, she/ he should have at least five years of experience as an executive or an administrator in a commercial/government establishment/registered organization after passing the Bachelor‘s degree examination.
Although there is no hard and fast rule that only the most experienced student will get the highest package, having work experience will make your resume more appealing to the prospective employer and there are companies that require work experience for various profiles like consulting and product management.
These profiles pay well so it makes sense that people with relevant work experience are preferred to someone with no work experience. But mind you this is not discriminating against freshers, colleges and companies give equal opportunities to all of their students.
