Which is better, NIT Kurukshetra IT or NIT Jamshedpur CS?
NIT Jamshedpur CS is better than NIT Kurukshetra IT. It offers better placement opportunities to students. According to the highlights of NIT Jamshedpur placements 2022, students of CSE received the highest CTC of around INR 37.50 LPA. Amazon, Deloitte, Tata Group are some of the major recruiters that frequently visit the campus placements.
Which is better: a CSE at new IITs like Patna, Indore or a CSE at DTU?
My friend was in a similar dilemma last year and chose DTU over IIT Patna. She considers new IITs overhyped and not at par with the IIT standards. Running after the IIT tag is not logical and you should look at the bigger picture. Anaise your career prospects and see if other options fit your prospects or not.
DTU is a great option for CSE considering the excellent exposure and opportunities you will get in Delhi, the capital. The salary packages, the companies, and the profiles offered at DTU are similar to the new IITs if not better.
To make things simpler, here are a few pros and cons of going for a new IIT instead of DTU
Pros:
- The most coveted IIT tag name, helps you get admission to foreign universities and also helps you in off-campus job hunt.
- IITs have better research opportunities
- The academic structure and pedagogy are world-class at IITs
Cons:
- Being in Delhi will groom your overall personality in addition to excellent professional opportunities and exposure.
- The new IITs fail to give a vibrant and dynamic college life and are still struggling with infrastructure and basics. DTU, being old, has a vibrant culture with all sorts of fests, cultural and tech activities.
- Delhi is the hub of coaching institutes for higher education.
- DTU has a better brand name established by its successful alumni spread across the globe.
Ultimately it’s your choice whether you want a better campus life or the IIT tag.
How good is ITM Gwalior for CS engineering?

Faculty and Curriculum
- The faculty at ITM is very poor as they lack specialization and qualification. Almost all the faculty at ITM Gwalior is B.E. only.
- This directly affects the curriculum of the course which is not so great either. However, teachers are very supportive.
Infrastructure
- They have well-equipped laboratories and other infrastructural benefits.
- A lab dedicated to coding and programming is built for students to take additional courses which the school conducts on a regular basis. These courses give an edge to you over other students in Placement interviews.
- The recently established Center of Excellence will give extra benefits, as the students are selected to work on Live Company Projects through its collaboration with numerous MNC’s.
Placement
- With more than 62,226 placement opportunities, 372 major industries, and MNC corporate recruiters, ITM has a very special place among other ivy-league colleges of our country.
- ITM conducts Expert Lectures, diverse seminars, International conferences every semester. This year 4 students were offered a package of 10 Lakhs by BYJUS.
Placements are the only good thing at ITM. So if you want to get a decent placement then only go for ITM.
What is the average package for CSE at NIT Agartala?
NIT Agartala does not release official statements of branch-wise statistics so it's difficult to produce data on the same. However, I asked a few friends regarding the CSE placements at NIT Agartala. Based on what I heard from them, the placements are decent. Almost 100% of students were placed in 2022 and the average package is INR 13–14 LPA. The highest package was recorded at around INR 53 LPA while the lowest package was INR 8.5 LPA.
Many top companies visit the campus for recruitment and the institute has an active training and placement cell that offers assistance to the students in securing internships and placements.

How is the Mathematics and Computing in IIT Guwahati?
For a genuine math lover, Mathematics and Computing program at IIT Guwahati is a literal treat. You need to be proficient in Math to take up this course. The syllabus includes core math concepts combined with knowledge of CS as well. Towards the end, the math is confined to statistics and finance. The syllabus is not very flexible initially but becomes so in the last two semesters.
Here are a few pros and cons pertaining to the course
Pros:
- The MnC branch boasts excellent placements second only to the CS department. The placement percentage stood at 91.94%. Out of the total 62 students that opted for placements, 57 were able to secure decent jobs. However, finance firms and banks are yet to realize the true potential of this department. One can get an INR 20 LPA by doing a decent internship and maintaining a good CGPA.
- Excellent Master's opportunities are even better than CS students. This is the best option for those planning to get a master's abroad. To upgrade your CV, you can do internships and choose electives accordingly. All this will increase your chances of admission to CSE, data science, finance, and mathematics.
- Job opportunities: This program has excellent opportunities in terms of jobs as well as research and many fields are open to hire students of this course.
Cons
- The rigidity of the syllabus makes it the jack of all trades master of none. You cannot choose the elective according to your interest during the initial years. Many useless courses add to the overall workload with no increase in knowledge.
- Those who aren’t into finance may find it difficult to cope with it as it’s impossible to drop finance courses during the initial years.
In the near future when the IT industry will be at its peak, MnC might be better than CSE in terms of monetary benefits. If you aren’t certain about your area of interest, then Maths and Computing are definitely better than all core branches except CS.
How many marks are required to get a seat at DTU (CSE) as a general Delhi category student?

The above cutoffs are for General Category and CSE branch only. As for the marks required, it depends on a number of aspects like the difficulty level of your shift, no. of students appearing, and other exam factors. Approximately, you are expected to score between 236 - 275 to get CSE at DTU.
How is Haldia Institute of Technology good for CSE?
One of my friends completed his B.tech from the Haldia Institute of technology so, it would be easy for me to answer your question.
- Among all the colleges in West Bengal, Haldia Institute of Technology has the best campus life. Moreover, the hostel life is one such life that everyone should experience.
- If you are good at extracurricular activities, then this college has a lot to provide. An annual tech fest is organized at campus.
- Being a state-level engineering college, you shouldn’t expect a lot from it. You may not receive well-furnished labs and all sorts of comfort which includes average teachers.
- Placement opportunities are also decent with job roles in reputed IT companies. Even if you are an average student in your studies, you will get a campus placement.
You can experience a diverse college environment as you will see every type of student on the campus. At the end of the day, it’s on you, how you really want to be and which group really suits you.
Is CSE in ISM Dhanbad better than IIT Bhubaneswar?
ISM Dhanbad is one of the oldest colleges in India with experienced faculty and a diverse curriculum. The excellent research facilities and the established alumni network coupled with the amazing facilities add to a great student culture existing in the campus. Moreover, in comparison, IIT Bhubaneswar was just established 12 years ago in 2008, and it has shifted to its main campus just a few years ago so as compared to IIT(ISM) Dhanbad it lacks a little behind in infrastructure.
Coming to the placement, both colleges being IITs have an excellent record in the CSE department. Same or similar firms come to both the campuses for placements however the packages and the number of offers made by the firms are significantly higher in IIT(ISM) Dhanbad. For eg., Goldman Sachs in 2018 placed 4 offers in IIT Bhubaneswar as compared to 10 in IIT(ISM) Dhanbad although the average package offered by them in both the colleges was the same at 31 LPA. However, Samsung R and D offered made 10 offers with the average package being 16 LPA at IIT(ISM) Dhanbad and in IIT Bhubaneswar they ended up making 2 offers with the average package being 10 LPA. According to 2019 placement highlights in IIT(ISM) Dhanbad there were 90.23% placements from the CSE department with average CTC 39.5 LPA. Whereas, in IIT Bhubaneswar CSE department had 100% placement with an average of 11.44 LPA.
Therefore, considering all the factors at the moment IIT Dhanbad will be the better option than IIT Bhubaneswar for CSE. However, the speed at which IIT Bhubaneswar is growing it can also be considered as an alternative.
Is IIIT Delhi really good for CSE?
Yes, IIIT Delhi is an amazing choice for CSE. Here are some highlights of the institute
- Course and Curriculum: IIIT Delhi has a well-updated curriculum that is delivered through modern pedagogy. The students are given regular assignments and homework to evaluate their understanding of the concepts.
- Environment: IIIT Delhi has a very harmonious environment and has no cases of ragging at all. The seniors are always ready to guide the juniors.
- Coding: IIIT Delhi has an amazing coding culture with its own contest portal Foobar.
- Faculty: IIIT Delhi has a highly talented and experienced faculty pool comprising both Indian and foreign teachers. Most professors are Ph.D. holders.
- Placements: IIIT Delhi has been recording excellent placement statistics over the past few years. This year the institute recorded 96.58% placements with the highest package standing at INR 51.03 LPA and the average package standing at INR 23.72 LPA. Some of the top recruiters included Qualcomm, Microsoft, Amazon, Google, MathWorks, Dell, Synopsys, Adobe, IBM, Accenture, Complex Systems Laboratory, etc.

I am too confused between CSE at DTU/NSIT and IIT Jodhpur. What should I do?
I can never stop emphasizing this, no matter how many options you have always go for the one that gives you the IIT tag.
I am not saying Engineering colleges like NSIT and DTU aren’t good but they are in the developing phase while IIT Jodhpur is in its developing phase. This means it will only get better. Despite being a new IIT, its average package this year was recorded at INR 21.30 LPA, which is a great feat for a new college.
Additionally, IITs receive more funding from the government to provide better research and project opportunities. Specifically speaking about CSE, this year the highest INR 56 LPA was bagged by BTech CSE. The placement percentage stood at 97% while the average package for CSE was recorded at INR 23 LPA.
DTU and NSIT may have higher placement statistics but they lack what IIT Jodhpur offers, the most coveted IIT tag! So choose wisely.
