How would internships make a significance in one's life in. NIT, Trichy?
Internships play a major role in the lives of NIT Trichy students. Students are exposed to top-notch technology in R&D institutes, academic institutions, and professional life. Initially, NIT Trichy showed little or no interest in securing internship offers for the students. But now the Training and Placement cells contact the industries in which the students have shown interest in internships. Broadly you will find students aiming for internships divided into 3 categories
- The top students aiming for internships with professors of IITs, IISC, and leading R&D institutions like NAL, NML, IGCAR, DRDO, VSSC, etc. Their main goal is to publish research papers and get admission to top foreign universities.
- Students who want to get into their dream companies target an internship in the same company or industry.
- A handful of students pursue their passions during vacations. Some can be found developing their startup ideas while some can be seen joining music and dance schools.
NIT Trichy students start preparing for their internships in the first year itself. Recently, the institute has also bagged some international internship offers. The institute plays a big role in assisting the students and they even provide airfare for the students attending final interviews outside India. CARGILL, MITAC, and DAAD are some of the fellowships in which students are achieving great success over the past few years. Students attending these fellowship programs became brand ambassadors and encouraged their juniors.

Which is better, Manipal Institute of Technology or NIT Trichy?
Both Manipal Institute of Technology and NIT Trichy are highly reputed institutions for engineering education in India. Both institutes have a strong academic reputation, excellent faculty and facilities, and a large number of successful alumni.
If I were in your place, I would have chosen NIT Trichy for the simple fact that its a government college and ranked much better than MIT Manipal. It’s one of the top NITs and is second only to the top IITs. Some might comment that MIT Manipal has better infrastructure then they should also be aware of the fact that its amazing infrastructure comes out of their pockets. The fees charged are exorbitantly high so the excellent infrastructure is well-deserved. I am not claiming that MIT Manipal isn't good, in fact, it's the second-best private college after BITS but it still has a long way to go to reach the standards of IITs and NITs. However, it's important to note that my answer is only in comparison to NIT Trichy. If you are getting any other NIT that is not among the top 5, then in that case, choose MIT Manipal.
Ultimately, the choice of which institute is better for you will depend on your individual needs, preferences, and goals.
What should I choose, IIST Avionics or NIT Trichy or top NITs?
I have many friends from NIT Trichy so I can give you some insight regarding the institute. NIT Trichy is among the best NITs in the country and it has been among the best for the past few years. The peer group at the institute is great since the highest rankers mostly choose NIT Trichy. Here is a highlight of the recent placement record for NIT Trichy.

In terms of quality of education, NIT Trichy is similar to that of any other southern NITs. What makes it stand out is the campus culture and the excellent placement record.
Should I go for IIIT Allahabad even if I have rank enough to get CS in NIT-K, NIT-W, and NIT-T?
The most practical thing to do here would be to begin with taking a look at the syllabus of both these mentioned programs. You need to be absolutely clear about whether you wish to study for the next 4 years of your life and maybe also be able to develop a career in the same field. Interest and passion are mandatory to be able to sustain in any field of engineering for a very long period of time.
Now as far as my personal opinion goes, since two of my brothers have completed their engineering from IIIT Allahabad, I strongly believe that IIITA is a notch better than the others. Although the syllabus of CSE and IT is more or less the same, the overall academic environment of IIITA is better suited for coding when compared to the other NITs. There are a number of competitive programming websites available online where you will find more students of IIIT A placed at higher ranks than NITs.
There is a process of development, evolvement and growth as a programmer in IIITA for the students. It is known to all that India’s best coder Suryanarayana is also from IIIT A. Another reason why IIITA is a popular option for many aspiring coders is because unlike other colleges, it offers core subjects from the first years itself.
The placement scenario is also far accomplished of IIIT Allahabad.
Does NIT Trichy have gym facility?
NIT Trichy has a decent and well-equipped gym. The campus is widespread and accommodates around 10,000 people but there is only 1 gym for all.
You can book a morning or evening slot at the gym in order to avoid the humidity. However, it is manageable if you are quite passionate. There are certain gym groups and are approachable. If you do not will to be a loner at the gym then you might have to pull some strings to include yourself with them.
There are various students who install pull-up bars in their hostel rooms for themselves. Some have even rods and weights to lift and grounds around offer you enough space to run anytime.
What companies take production engineers from NIT Trichy?
Through conversation with the alumni of this branch, I learned that the placements are at par with the other top NITs. A greater number of core companies visit the campus in comparison to other institutions.
Students who choose to pursue their higher studies get into well-known universities in India and abroad. For internships, however, you will have to try on your own.

Which is better, NIT Trichy (EEE), NIT Surathkal (ECE), or IIIT Allahabad (CSE)?
EEE from NIT Trichy is the best option. NIT Trichy’s EEE department is well known and is highly demanded by the students. However, choosing your specialisation also depends on your area of interest. If your interest lies in electrical gadgets, their working, power supply and all those related things then only pursue this course. Always remember that you will have to take up this degree for four years and if you do not enjoy it then you will never learn from it. In NIT Trichy, you will get to learn about the subject as well as experience it through the different practical sessions. You will be encouraged to work on your projects and create something new.
What would be the better choice - ECE at BITS Goa or ECE at NIT Trichy?
Since you have decided on a branch beforehand, comparing two institutes becomes easier. That being said, BITS Goa is a clear winner and you can go for it without any hesitation. Consider the following parameters
Infrastructure: Being a private institute, BITS Goa has excellent infrastructure and facilities. The campus is fully wifi-enabled with air-conditioned classrooms, well-equipped labs, and a well-stocked e-library. There are several MOOC or reverse classroom courses too.
Faculty: BITS Goa has a thorough recruiting process and only then best professors are selected thus maintaining the standards of teaching here. The faculty members are expected to be highly experienced and have published at least 5 papers. There is also a faculty monitoring committee, to ensure quality teaching.
Course structure: BITS Goa has a well-structured curriculum and the pedagogy adopted is modern.
Campus life: Being located in a tourist city, the campus life experience is full of fun.
Placements: BITS Goa placements statistics are excellent and this year the average package stood at INR 30.37 LPA.
Unless you have any financial constraints, choosing BITS Pilani over NIT Trichy will prove to be a more fruitful decision.
Which would be better to take from NIT Trichy: instrumentation and control or production?
I know a little bit about ISI Kolkata since I have a few friends from the institute. Here is what you should know about the internships between semesters.
The course curriculum specifies that in the summer after completing your first year of M.Tech, you have to do an internship either in the industry or academia. You will have 3 options.
Industry:
- Many companies that visit the Campus for placements of 2nd-year students also select interns for the same.
- Some of such companies are Samsung Research Labs, Google, General Electric, Reliance, Flipkart, De Shaw, JP Morgan Chase, etc.
- The average stipend offered last year was 65,000 rupees/month.
- Some companies offer more than 1 lakh/month. One of my friends interned at Samsung Research Labs.
Academia:
- As per ISI guidelines, you need to pursue an internship at a different academic Institute or industry.
- A friend of mine went to NUS Singapore, while two others went to a university in Germany. You can also apply to other institutes in Japan, USA, and Europe. People also go to IITs, CMI, and other Tier-1 Institutes of India.
Within ISI:
If for some reason you could not get an internship in the above-mentioned ways, you can approach any of the 250+ faculty members across all 5 ISI‘s and can ask to work with them in their labs.
You will have internships at the end of the first year. In the second year, you will have placements, dissertation, academics. So, the only time left to do an additional internship is the winter break after the first sem. Unless you are extremely enthusiastic, I will suggest that you take a break during this period. Because after the break you will be swamped with coursework for 1.5 years.
