What is the average salary package for XLRI Jamshedpur?
During the placements 2022 campaign, XLRI recorded 100% placements for its PGDM (BM) and PGDM (HRM) programs.
Additionally, during the XLRI PGDM BM and PGDM HRM Placements in 2022, the top domestic package and average package were both INR 78.2 LPA. A total of 487 offers were accepted, of which three were overseas offers.
The median salary offered to the batch is INR 30 lakh per annum. The average salary saw an increase to 32 lakh per annum from INR 30.7 lakhs per annum in 2022. Highest domestic offer at INR 78.2 lakhs per annum from the ITES sector. The highest international offer is 1.1 crore per annum for the HR domain.
What would happen if FMS and XLRI become IIM Delhi and IIM Jamshedpur respectively?
It seems almost impossible to happen. Although FMS is a reputed institute, it has yet to have the desired campus life. When a student dream of an MBA, a good campus life always remains inside their brain, and FMS does not fulfill that.
If we talk about XLRI Jamshedpur, there is already an IIM in the state of Jharkhand, IIM Ranchi. It is not possible to have 2 IIMs in one state, plus XLRI has a different brand image. Many people consider this institute better than any IIM, whether the IIMs are ABC, and it is a private institute as well, so the chances are close to impossible for these institutes to become IIMs. And if any, how they become IIMs, so I think FMS won't change much, but XLRI will have to follow government guidelines then.
Why is FMS Delhi lesser known compared to the IIMs and XLRI?
Everyone looks at IIM-Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Calcutta through CAT and XLRI through XAT. The IIMs have mastered the art of marketing through alumni networks, events, and branding. As a result, they are able to attract the best faculty, students, and recruiters. The respectable cycle will be broken if they fail in one aspect.
FMS is under the supervision of DU. It has a set budget, a limited number of seats, and consistent recruiters. The cycle is well established; there is no need to change the current situation.
IIMs and XLRI are the only institutions that hold separate exams and require entrance exams. Many advertisements for these entrances can be found in newspapers, blogs, and magazines. FMS, on the other hand, avoids such activities. FMS offers similar opportunities in terms of exposure, placements, knowledge, a strong alumni base, and so on.
What exactly is the shorlisting process of XLRI once you take XAT?
Along with the XAT results, XLRI announces sectional and overall cut-offs for each of its programs. Everyone who has passed all the cutoffs is invited to the next round.
Here are some important points for you to keep in mind:
- If you applied to more than one program at XLRI, you will receive a separate shortlist for each program and will have to complete the remaining process for each program separately, assuming you passed the cut-offs.
- The cut-offs for the second round shortlist are based solely on your performance in the first section of the XAT.
- GK and essay marks do not count for the shortlist but do play a role in the selection process and finally admits.

Can a 96 percentile in the CAT get admitted in XLRI or any IIMs?
For XLRI, you will have to appear in XAT. As for IIMs, the selection for admission varies depending on which category you belong to.
- General Category Male Engineers (GEM): You are most likely to get calls from the new IIMs. It is more or less the same for GEF except for the gender diversity points.
- General Category Non-Engineers: If you are from Arts background, expect a call from IIM A, B, C, even if you have only above 80% in 10/12/Undergrad. If you are a Commerce student you can expect a call from IIM I/K/S apart from the new IIMs.
- OBC/NCL Category: As the sectional cutoff is lower, you can expect a call from all IIMs except ABC if you are an engineer. Female and non-engineering students will have gender/academic diversity advantages.
- SC/ST Category: The required cutoff is fairly low for these two categories. But you will need decent past academics (at least 80%) to be eligible for top IIMs.
But these are only the minimum requirements to get a call for WAT-PI at these institutes. To be selected for admission, you will need to perform well in the WAT-PI round too as the competition will be fierce.
What is the safe score in XAT that considerably increase your selection in XLRI BM course?
Based on the XAT exam trends in the past few years, a low score of 35 in XAT 2020 mostly leads to a high percentile. XLRI XAT cut-off is likely to be around 96 percentile for the flagship PGDM-BM program.
A low score of 33-34 in XAT 2021 will lead to high percentile experts have predicted this fact based on the trends in the XAT exam over the last many years.

For the BM course in XLRI, the safe score considered is 35-37 in the XAT exam. In terms of percentile, a 95+ is safe when backed up by the preferable XAT score. It then increases the chance of getting selected in the XLRI BM course without any hassle. For the year 2021, a slight raise may be expected but it is not sure to be considered.
How shall we prepare for essay writing and GK for XAT to get into XLRI? As this pattern was absent in CAT, how shall we cover these sessions in this short span?
There are no fixed strategy to tackle the essay section of XAT. The essay topics are usually unpredictable. Usually, the topics are abstract in nature. It’s often observed that the topics are based on a common idiom or phrase with an implied philosophical hint. The aim of this section is to judge your language skill as well as your thought process. Practice writing sample essays on various topics and assess them on content and writing style. Reading the editorial section of national newspapers can be helpful for this section.
For the GK section, you should focus more on Economics and Business related topics. Prepare current affairs for the last 6 months. For Static GK read about awards, geography, books & authors, cabinet ministers, and government yojanas.
How good is XLRI Jamshedpur in comparison with IIMs?
