NIT Trichy for B.Tech Electrical and Electronics Engineering seems to offer a better return on investment compared to NIT Rourkela’s B.Tech Ceramic Engineering. The fees at NIT Trichy are around Rs.1.2 lakhs annually, which is reasonable considering the strong placement opportunities with top tech companies and research internships. NIT Rourkela also has a good fee structure but may not have the same level of placement success, especially in the tech sector. Additionally, NIT Trichy provides numerous scholarships and fee waivers for economically weaker students, making it a financially smart choice. If you are inclined toward a broader engineering field and better job prospects, go for NIT Trichy; if you have a specific interest in ceramics and are okay with potentially lower placements, NIT Rourkela could be the right fit.

NIT Rourkela is certainly a great NIT, but comparing it to NIT Trichy is tough.

In my opinion,
Top 7 NITs CSE >= Old IITs Metallurgy (depending on your priorities) > top 7–14/15 NITs CSE > newer IITs Metallurgy. For circuit branches, the new IITs are definitely a solid choice, but when it comes to core branches, the Old IITs are way ahead of the newer ones. So, I wouldn’t consider the core branches of new IITs as a good option.

CSE at MNNIT Allahabad is significantly better than CSE at NIT Rourkela. Don't just rely on the NIRF rankings; consult with some IITIANS and NITIANS—they understand the real rankings based on placement statistics. The top four NITs for CSE are:

• NIT Trichy
• NIT Warangal
• NIT Surathkal (CE not CSE)
• NIT Allahabad (MNNIT)

Rankings can vary year to year, but the average package at NIT Allahabad is impressive for tech branches like CS/IT. A few years ago, a student from MNNIT secured a package of Rs.1.34 crore from Facebook. MNNIT was the first institution in India to introduce computer science as an engineering stream, and since then, the Computer Science department has focused on providing the best environment for CS/IT students, leading to excellent placement results. MNNIT Allahabad is one of India's most prestigious colleges and ranks among the top 3 NITs for computer science and engineering. In comparison to some IITs, MNNIT's tech branches like CS/IT are far superior, boasting a highest package of Rs.45 LPA for CSE and Rs.29.96 LPA for IT, along with average packages of Rs.13.44 LPA and Rs.11 LPA, respectively.

MNNIT Allahabad's B.Tech in Electrical Engineering has a well-established placement record, boasting over 90% placement rates, especially strong in software roles with top companies like Microsoft and Goldman Sachs. In contrast, NIT Rourkela's B.Tech in Mining Engineering doesn't have as much data on placements, but mining engineering tends to have a more niche job market, which may limit options compared to the broader appeal of Electrical Engineering. While both colleges offer decent internship opportunities, MNNIT's coding culture and access to major tech firms make it a stronger choice for those seeking high-paying jobs in tech. If you're leaning towards a more traditional engineering path with robust job prospects, MNNIT Allahabad is the better pick; if mining is your passion and you’re okay with a slightly less clear job market, then NIT Rourkela could be your call.

Both colleges are almost at par with each other, making it difficult to choose between the two. The placement statistics for Mechanical Engineering at NIT Trichy and Electronics & Communication Engineering at NIT Rourkela are quite similar. In this case, I suggest you opt for a branch based on your interests. Review the syllabus for both Mechanical and Electronics branches and decide which one appeals to you more. Electronics & Communication is a circuital branch, allowing you to sit for placements in tech companies, while Mechanical Engineering is a core branch, leading to placements in core companies. If you are inclined towards tech work, consider NIT Rourkela; otherwise, choose NIT Trichy. Additionally, consider practical factors such as distance from home, food variety, and culture. NIT Trichy has a South-dominant culture, while NIT Rourkela has a North-dominant culture and cuisine. The primary mode of communication at NIT Trichy is English, whereas it is Hindi/Odia at NIT Rourkela.

Placements are definitely there for coaching centres in my branch. Many big and reputed coaching institutions like akash, byjus etc came for recruitment. More R & D comapnis can be included. the nterview process and the packages were decent for the role offered.

For my branch that is chemistry the faculty to student ratio was 1:30. The faculties are very approachable and very good. They help in getting good internship and job opportunities. They also help to learn many things in their laboratories. I liked my faculty adviser Prof: RK BEHERA. I liked him because he always guided me and he was always avaialble whenever I need any guidance. He also provided me an opportunity in his lab to work with him and learn many skills which helped me further in my actual internship time. There are 2 semesters in each year. An before each semester thre is mid semster. The exam is relevant to the curriculum.

The overall cmapus life was the best. we had so many clubs, fun activities, events, and I was partof the sports team so I travelled almost every year 2 times whichwas th ebest part and that was alos sponsored to some extent by the college.

Hostel facilities are good. In the first to 3rd year I stayed in 3 sharing room. In my 4th and 5 th year I got a single room. ther were libraries, laundry in the hostel intself. There was hostel days were also where we celberated and had fun.
