Which college is best for an M.Tech in CSE, NIT Durgapur or IIIT Allahabad or IIITM Gwalior?
If you are going to take admission for M.Tech in any of these colleges it will be worth the choice. All are quite established and are doing great in curriculum and placements.
But there is always the best among the rest and hence, I would like to suggest you opt for NIT Durgapur. It beats both IIIT Allahabad and IIITM Gwalior. Also, regarding the two IIITs, IIIT Allahabad certainly does better than IIITM Gwalior in competitive programming and placements
- On the other hand, NIT Durgapur holds strong ties with IIT Kharagpur.
- The professors and students both are collaborating on various projects from both institutes.
- The alumni base of NIT Durgapur is also strong. It includes IIT Kharagpur graduates who have completed or are currently pursuing higher degrees at IIT.
- There is a better opportunity in NIT Durgapur as compared to others, in case you are prepared to utilize these.
- If you will seek placement after M.Tech, go for Allahabad.

How good is a B.Tech in CSE at IIITM Gwalior?
IIITM Gwalior offers 4-year degree courses along with five years of an integrated program. The CSE department is better in every aspect. Following points brief about the same:
- The core subjects are taught in the first semester itself. In the second semester, courses like data structures, database management systems, and discrete mathematics will be offered

The infrastructure of IITM Gwalior is new and great with spacious rooms and other facilities. As a CSE student, you will get single rooms in the first year itself. The college has not got much recognition like IIT’S and NIT’s but it is one of the best colleges.
What would be a better option between BIT Mesra BTech IT branch and IIITM Gwalior 5 year IPG IT course considering the fact that I have no problem with 4 years or 5 years?
The best choice will be to pursue a five-year IPG from IIITM Gwalior. The reasons are below.
- There are two programs in IPG. One is IMT (IPG M. Tech) with 119 intake seats, and another is IMG (IPG MBA) with 69 intake seats. Since 2017, the institute has had a strict batch for IT+MBA, unlike before. In the past, students who failed to get a decent CGPA had no option except to take MBA after the third year and they were not allowed to take M.Tech. This is the reason, the placement statistics for the program may look average. However, the situation has changed.
- IIITM Gwalior has an excellent alumni base. Even some of the recruiters coming for campus placement have a history with the college.
- Some students even have cracked Google Summer of Code (GSOC), and most get an internship in their first year.

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Agartala has been ranked by the NIRF for its Engineering Program at No.75 out of 100. Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) has been granted the status of Institute of National Importance. It is also ranked 134 for BTech by NIRF 2020. ABV Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (IIITM, Gwalior) ranks at 100 for the BTech by NIRF 2020.

How is IIITM Gwalior for a PhD in CS/IT? Will it be better than VNIT Nagpur (taking the research in CS into consideration)?
VNIT Nagpur is a better option for CS. The CS department has excellent professors. The labs are well-equipped to carry out research projects. The institute organizes many coding related events throughout the academic year. If you are interested in a professor's area of research, you can approach them about it.
Is it advisable to opt for a dual degree, say at NIT or IIITM Gwalior or IIEST Shibpur, or only B.Tech at the same institutes? Which one gives more pay and jobs?
I would recommend you to go for a B.Tech course rather than a dual degree program if you are expecting to get hired after the completion of your engineering.
Companies prefer candidates who are graduates a little more than post-graduates when it comes to recruitment for jobs. Also, choosing a dual degree program would mean that you will be spending one extra year in rigorous coursework and projects. Projects that are there in the curriculum of Post Graduate Programs can be pretty hectic and could weaken your spirits especially at times when you see your friends graduating and getting job opportunities from companies.
However, if you have plans to spend more time in the academic fields then I would suggest you consider a dual degree for your career. A dual degree can help you a lot in your higher education. If you can qualify for competitive examinations like GATE, then you will be eligible to get a monthly stipend for pursuing M.Tech for 1 year.
The final choice is in your hands as you would have to consider the pros and cons of both the programs. You can perform further research and analysis to make the final decision for your Career.
What should I choose, IT at Jadavpur University or CSE at IIITM, Gwalior?
Both Jadavpur University and IIITM Gwalior are esteemed institutes. Jadavpur University is known throughout India for its excellent performance in the fields of education. It has been known to be at the top 20 of the NIRF Ranking for the last few years in terms of everything.
Jadavpur University has a placement cell and statistics which can be compared to several IITs. Its placement in the IT and CSE cell are in the highest tier of packages. Jadavpur University has the best faculty in all of West Bengal for CSE and IT department.
Jadavpur University program is completed in 4 years as it originally takes however on the other hand IIITM Gwalior has an integrated course of B-tech and M-tech which takes 5 years to complete. The extra one year spent here won’t add much value IIIT Gwalior is not so acknowledged when it comes to the Masters’s degree or the higher degree. Even when we see in terms of alumni networking Jadavpur University has better networks spread around the world.

The decision solely depends on the institutes not on the course then. Both the courses are somewhat similar and Jadavpur University has got the upper hand when deciding about the institute. So IT at Jadavpur University would be the better choice.

It goes without saying, the idea of pursuing a degree in M.Tech in Information Security, that too, from an institute like IIITM Gwalior is a big deal. IIITM Gwalior and IIIT Guwahati are two excellent institutes of our country that are accredited by MHRD, Government of India. IIITM is also accredited by NAAC and approved by AICTE. IIITM is ranked 76th out of 100 in India for MBA by NIRF. Whereas, IIIT, Guwahati is ranked 66th out of 300 in India for BTech by NIRF.
MBA and BTech CSE are two popular programs at these institutions.
